    Toozday talk

Morning all!  I have a jam packed day today but I'm having so much fun I still feel like I'm on vacation.  Its sooooo nice just to have to go out and sell and not worry about anything else.  I'm having a ball AND I'm doing well.

The heat is heading back our way after a lovely taste of fall.  Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90's!  Groan.  But, other parts of the country are getting so blasted with bad weather that I simply don't have any room to complain.

I too am missing the daily drinks!  And I'm not even much of a drinker!  Here's hoping that at some point they'll be quick and easy to post again.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Hi all, whew it is record setting heat in NW Arkansas.  I hear rumor that we will get a slight cool front this weekend with a possibility of rain.  Wheeee!  We need some rain.

Karen, I dont know how I missed your new job, sounds like you are very busy.  Glenda sounds like your new job is just what you needed to lift you up!

All of my boys, Hot, Rock and hubby are becoming Air Condition boys this summer, lol.  They do not even want to go outside until it cools off in the evenings :)   I have to say that I dont blame them but " sum buddy haz to work. "

Well got to get back at it..have a great day all!

Busy, tired, and hot here. I was given a bunch of tomatoes the other day, so DS made gazpacho. I have some for my lunch today. Already tested it and it's yummy! Cool and refreshing.

    Not much else.

    • Gold Top Dog

I never heard of Gazpacho so I had to google it Stick out tongue  That sounds like something my Hubby would love.  I have all those ingrediants growing in my garden so ..... looks like Gazpacho is on the menu for next weekend   Thanks Tina

Gazpacho is delicious, best served very cold in a bowl sitting in a bed of ice, if possible.  Now I'm hungry again.

Visitors over the Labor Day weekend left us with "The Crud".  If you are not familiar with "The Crud" it includes congestion, sore throat, muscle aches and general weariness.  It sucks.  It's a good thing I love my friends so much!

Things have been very strange with our weather, high highs and low lows so we don't know whether to use the AC or open windows.  Sigh.  I vote for AC and consistency right now.

I miss Deb and my daily, virtual drink.

I learned a lesson this weekend - I went and got a chiro adjustment when I was a tad too tense (reports day - go figure), and not only did it not 'hold' but I relapsed into the whole sciatic nerve trapped in muscle thing (which is NOT like typical sciatica).  Not a pleasant weekend, but I seem to have recovered pretty danged well. (probably because I already had the big guns muscle relaxers to take at home thank goodness).  Lesson:  I need one of Deb's drinks after reports -- do NOT go get adjusted on that day! *crossing eyes* Duh!

However -- Charlie has discovered a new nemesis.   Not only water coming from the sky  (which is evil as you all know) ... but dang.  NOW some idiot human has planted these things that make WATER jump up out of the ground and then THAT falls down on your head.

How Cray-zay ARE these humans.  I mean -- WHY would you do such a thing deliberately???  Isn't it enuf that water falls from the sky??  WHY would you make it jump up out of the ground to fall on a poor unususpecting little spaniel when he's outside sniffin to do his business.  It's just WRONG, he says.

So much for the sprinkler system we've just had repaired.

    • Gold Top Dog

Poor Charlie!  Maybe he needs one of the cute canine raincoats to wear when the sprinkler system is on!  When we pass by houses with their sprinklers on, if there's a sprinkler head close to the sidewalk, Ruby tries to get a drink from it, despite the force of the spray hitting her whole face.  Goofball!

Callie, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.  That sounded painful!  Sarah, I hope the Crud moves along quickly and you're all feeling better soon!

The tomatoes are perfect here right now, and luckily we've got 2 friends who grow and share them with us.  The other day, I sliced one for a turkey sandwich, and it was such a gorgeous color inside.  Incredibly juicy and such flavor!  So many wonderful things to do with tomatoes:  gazpacho, salsa, bruschetta, pasta sauce, etc. etc.

I head to the airport later today to pick up my Mom and our friend.  House is all tidy, yard looks nice, frozen lasagna ready to go in the oven for an easy (although late) dinner when we get in from the airport.  Now I'm trying to get through loose ends at work, but I'll probably have to come in tomorrow for a couple hours.  I'm taking Thursday and Friday off.  We'll see about next week's schedule.

We're supposed to be in the 90's today and tomorrow -- they're saying some records could be broken.  Better than rain when visitors are here, but 90's are NOT my favorite weather!

Taking a quick break from FB where I have been defending the honor of all New Jerseyans and our rather rotund Governor, who can find a good meal in even the sketchiest of locations.

With that in mind, I give you:

    Ingredients:

    • Ice cubes
    • 2 ounces Laird's Applejack **
    • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
    • ¼ ounce grenadine

    Directions:

    1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the applejack, lime juice and grenadine. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

** Proudly made in New Jersey since the 1600s.

Sarah:  LM is just adorable !!

I haven't been on because my computer at work locks up everytime I try and load the forums under this "new and improved" version.    I have called the Geek so many times in the past few weeks, that I run the risk of getting arrested by members of my own Department for unauthorized computer use.

Speaking of members of my Department, if you could all send a good vibe out tomorrow for everyone who lost a loved one on 9/11 and maybe a special athought to those in the tri-state area who suffered again and lost all the remaining pictures, personal items and other momentos of their loved ones during Hurricane Sandy.

Here's hoping they upgrade my government mule of a computer at work soon !!

P.S. the name of the drink is "The Jack Rose".

    • Gold Top Dog

Hi Deb. :)  Nice to see you finally had pity on us and posted a drink.  It smells sort of funny though.  Oh, it's from Joysey.  Never mind. lol

Tomorrow I will be thinking of those who lost their lives and those left behind.  I had never thought about the photos of lost loved ones being destroyed by that bitch Sandy.  That's sad.

Busy today with reports that I should have already done but put off because I work better under pressure.  Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Tracy, hope the family and friend visit goes well and the weather is decent.

    Cathy, have fun on vacation!

Sarah, sorry you got the Crud from your visitors.  Hope everyone feels better soon.

We're going to have some storms here soon.  We had some yesterday too and it was great if a little short on actual rainfall.  It cooled us off and I'll take that.

Thanks for the cocktail Deb!  We just cant seem to function without our resident mixologist Wink

We will definately be keeping everyone that way in our thoughts and prayers.   I understand that many of the Emergency rescue personnel that survived 9-11 are struggling with medical issues now as well.  Thanks to them and their families for the sacrifice, our un-armed forces protecting our citizens at home.

    • Gold Top Dog

Hi, Deb!  Thanks for stopping by with such a tasty sounding beverage.  Definitely refreshing on the hot day we're having here.  Hope you get your computer issues resolved soo so we can cyber-drink with you more regularly!

Yes, the added tragedy of losing photos and other momentos of loved ones who perished on 9/11 is truly heartbreaking.  I don't understand why things that seem so unfair have to happen; it's beyond reason.

Remembering everyone affected by 9/11 (those who died, and those who survived but have permanent emotional and physical scars from that day) is a must on each year's anniversary.  But I also try to remember it on a regular basis in a small way.  When I climb stairs, I try to think of the first responders climbing UP into the towers to save people, as well as all the people climbing DOWN to evacuate the building that day.

I nearly forgot to wish Cathy a happy vacation -- enjoy Hawaii!

Wow!  Another phenominal day today sales wise.  This new paper is soooo darned easy to sell it's scary!  But, the parent paper has been around for 25 years and they have a solid gold reputation, so that helps.

Wow, Tracy, that's a really nice thing to do....I'm going to start doing that when I have to go up stairs instead of thinking that it should be illegal to make old people do stairs!

    • Gold Top Dog

Deb!!! So good to see a post and a drink from you!!

    I love gazpacho!!!

DH and I will both be thinking of all those affected by 9/11 :(

Managed to finish up stuff here at work and would really like to get out of here but boss and others are having a pre-Board mtg, so I feel like I need to hang around. I have everything packed and ready to go. Not sure there's room in the suitcase for any of DH's stuff though. I feel like I've done really good to get by with only 1 checked bag for both of us. When my friend flew out, she had 2 for just herself. I go through periods of feeling super excited to feeling nervous about the details (missing the flight, forgetting something for Shane, etc.). I know leaving Shane will make me sad but he'll be in good hands.

Tracy have a nice visit with your mom and her friend.

I might be able to find the forum from DH's laptop but if not, I'll chat with ya all when we get back next week. Hopefully I'll have some good pics to share. Aloha.....
