    Tgif 9-6-13!

Tgif Thank god! My office had a lot of conflict in it yesterday. People were stressed and hating each other. Today should be quiet as half the office will be off. I just have to make it through what will be a tough morning then it will be smooth sailing in the afternoon. I can get stuff done with nobody bothering me which is good since I will be out all next week. Did Cathy leave for vacation yet? I'm so jealous of her trip! If you haven't left yet have fun Cathy! My dogs are shedding something fierce. I just vacuumed and there are fur ball clumps everywhere. Lily's allergies are out of control right now too. Speaking of lily she is too quiet she must be getting into something hmmm

Brrrrr!  It's downright chilly here this morning.

I too am glad that it's Friday.  I'm tired this week.  I have to get up earlier to get to the office on time since it's a 45 minute ride.  Next week, I won't need to be in the office much at all, just working my people.  But, this week has seemed long.  So, glad that the weekend is almost here.

My allergies are going nuts.  Two different histamine blockers and I still eat benedryl like candy.

Ryan is 34 today.  I feel like I can breathe a little easier.  Since Mike died two days before HIS 34th b'day, I've been somewhat unsettled this week.  Stupid, but....

Better get started on my day...hope everyone has a peaceful and productive day.

Willa has been doing so well in kindergarten this week. I picked her up on Wednesday and her teacher was just gushing about what a good, sweet kid she is. She was also surprised that Willa is already a beginning reader. I'm so proud of my little Bean!

She did come home with blisters all over her hands from doing the monkey bars, though. She learned how to do it at the park earlier this summer and she was excited to do it EVERY day at recess. lol.

She's such an active, athletic kid - she wants to do ALL THE THINGS. She's been in swimming and gymnastics for over a year and a half. The only time she couldn't do a session of gymnastics was the last 5 weeks because the Y didn't offer it. But it's starting back up again in two weeks. Earlier this summer she also did soccer and t-ball. She also wanted to do dance class at the Y but I said that's too many things!

Now she wants to take drum lessons. With kindergarten being 5 full days/week, I just think it would be too much. I am considering it though, because she doesn't seem to get overwhelmed by being so busy... she actually loves it. Also, I think teaching music at a young age is important. We have a drum set here at home that she loves to bang on. I think I'll see how it goes with school, swimming, and gymnastics for a month or so, and if she's doing fine we can add it in.

    Go Willa, go!!

I wonder how Sharon's new job is going for her.

    Office drama sucks.

No cavities at my dental cleaning yesterday. My implant is scheduled to start 9-20-13. That's a tooth, not a boob. Stick out tongue

Busy busy here at work. I have my annual on Monday, so another half day off.

Wow that's a lot of things.  Hannah has to pick one thing at a time (aside from school).  But part of that is scheduling, we always seem to not have time.

I set alarms for DH and I on my phone and keep it under my pillow (Aaron sleeps in our room and I don't want it to wake him up).  This morning neither of us heard DH's alarm go off and he was 1 1/2 hours late to work.  He got here and his boss asked why he was late and said "and don't blame Stef."  lol  Thankfully they are pretty easy going here and he can make up the time.

The ride in was a little on the chilly side this morning, but still nice.

Sleeping in always throws a wrench into the rest of my day.  Yet, I'm so good at it.  This morning LM was nudging me and saying, "Wakey, Wakey - Daddy is at the Puppy Park and I'm hungry."  LOL

Good for you, Willa!  I think drumming is a great thing to pick up but could you do it every second week or something, just to make the schedule less intense?

It's been cooler here but going back up to 92 today.  The trees are starting to change and my favorite season is almost upon us.  Yay!

I remember playing on the monkey bars so much that I had blisters on my hands too. Good memories and I'm so glad Willa is doing so well in school. My best friend's granddaughter started 3rd grade this year in Colorado and she's taking Chinese. Doesn't that seem odd? I love the idea of learning a 2nd language at such a young age but why Chinese?

We leave for Maui next Wed. DH is paranoid about me mentioning it anywhere, so I won't be posting anything on FB and will deny I posted anything here, so mums the word ;). I'm sure we'll have a good time but we're both dreading the thought of leaving Shane :(

It was chilly enough this morning that I put on long pants and a sweatshirt. It'll be mid-90s later, so I should try and absorb the coolness as much as possible.

I ordered a really nice throw and 2 pillow covers from West Elm and they arrived yesterday. I love it all and got it for a super good deal. The throw was only $13 and looks and feels wonderful.

Hope things are calm for you at work today Julie.

Wow Willa!  She's making me tired just reading about all her activities!  lol

Cathy, I hope you have a great time on your vacation.  We'll need pictures!  I know you both will worry about Shane but I'm sure he'll be fine.

Work is a real PITA lately with some things I can't control but get chewed out about anyway.

I haven't heard from my sis about her dog since yesterday.  I had a little dog drama at the house last night with a dog I found and I forgot to call her. :(  The found dog has been reunited with her owner.

    @JackieG
Wow Willa!  She's making me tired just reading about all her activities!

That's what I was thinking!  I wish I had a tenth of that energy!  I think the music lessons are a good idea -- and maybe it's better she has all these extra activities now before she gets into the grade levels where she'll have lots of homework to do after school.  As for her choice of instrument, I might be wishing for something "quieter" like the flute!  Wink  DH has always wanted to learn to play the drums; I often think he should take it up now as an adult since his parents weren't supportive of it when he was a kid.

Tina, glad you were referring to a TOOTH implant.  Having a boob done at the dentist's office might have been a bit risky!

Cathy, I know a few kids who are learning Chinese, and one of my good friends (who's in her 30's) has been studying it for a few years now.  For her, it's something that could make her even more employable since her career path could involve working with Chinese partners.  The other day I read where if you want to learn another language that makes you valuable in the workplace, choose an Asian or Middle Eastern language.  Apparently there are enough bilingual people who speak Spanish that it's not a special skill set like it once was.

I love West Elm -- we got our duvet cover and bed linens from there last year, and I just got some funky red stools for the kitchen bar/counter in the spring.  I always find things that are marked down significantly (which is how I prefer to shop!).

I feel run down and tired.  But I need to muster up the energy to do a White Tornado cleaning session at home this weekend.  My Mom and our friend arrive on Tuesday, and I've not done much housework since our last guests left in mid-August.

I forgot we were doing an interview today.  I give the skills test.  On one hand I like that my opinion is valued enough that they have me in the hiring process.  On the other hand, it sucks when I know w/ in 5 minutes that this person doesn't have what we need but obviously we have to finish the test. Its even worse when they seem like a nice person and could probably learn what we need, but that isn't what we are here to do.  Thankfully, I don't have to be the one that lets them know.

I didn't realize that this weekend is the craft fair in the town I grew up in.  I thought it was next weekend and that I was going to miss it.  Guess I know what me and Aaron are getting into while DH works on finishing some drywall in the bathroom.

I really want to learn Spanish.  We do a lot of work w/ a plant in Mexico and sometimes communicating is hard.  Plus, since it is spoken so prevalently I just think it would be something nice to know, regardless of work place stuff.  As an example, our neighbors are Latino and we can't really do much more than just smile and say hi to each other.

    • Gold Top Dog

Stef, I love craft fairs -- the one we have here is huge and takes a long time to get through if you really want to look at all the booths (200+ artists).  Much of the stuff is out of my price range, but I've found some special treasures over the years.  Even if you don't buy, just looking at the work people can do is lots of fun.  So many talented people!

I think learning/knowing Spanish is very valuable for personal (non-work) use, especially in communities with a significant Latino population in the area.  I took Spanish for 7 years in high school and college, and I used to speak it fairly well, but most of it is gone now.  We have Spanish-speaking neighbors, and the husband speaks less English than the wife.  Like you said, it would be nice to be able to speak a little for friendly conversation.  I think those tutorial CDs are good, and I'm sure there are online options, too.  DH wanted to learn some basics since he periodically has to talk with guys on job sites who speak Spanish.  Learning it when you're younger is much easier, but it's not impossible as an older person.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yea, I almost never buy anything but I love going every year.  Plus the whole town waits till this weekend to have their yard sales, which I also love.

The last 2 people we interviewed both went to the same technical school that I did, so I know why their skills in this area are lacking.  The 1 class that school does on the program we use is just doing tutorials.  I was lucky b/c I had just taken that class before I interviewed here so even though the information was limited, at least it was fresh.  These last 2 people have only had that 1 class and it was a few years ago.  My boss said I can call the school and tell them that that they need to improve their focus in this area if they want our company hire their graduates.  I think I might, b/c we keep turning down these people and I feel like the school shorted them in this area b/c they aren't putting enough emphasis on this area and its the direction that the field is moving in.  (Sorry if that is kind of confusing, but I was trying to be vague since its a public board)

Hmm looks like my paragraphs disappeared from my first post. Are paragraph Breaks broken again?

Willa  the thought of all that makes me exhausted lol. I am exhausted for you too having to take her to all that janice lol

    • Gold Top Dog

Odd. So if I start a thread paragraph breaks don't work but if I reply they do?

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow, if I wasn't already tired, reading about Willa's energy levels makes me feel OLD too!

Had another really good day at work.  I honestly feel like I'm on vacation!  I'm working a very productive day, but I get to come home and not work.  Weird, but in a very good way!
