    Thursday Thots (090513)

Sorry I've been so "gone" this week -- just intensely busy at work.  Even as much as *I* normally type I went home with a stiff neck/shoulder and my hand joints protesting from all the mouse stuff.  *rolling eyes* -- I'll stop complaining and be thankful for "job security"???

Luna's being a total stinker -- she jumped the gate yesterday, snagged a whole BOX of greenies off a shelf she should not have been able to get to ... opened the box, got into the heavy liner and ate the WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLEEE thing.   Guess who spent most of her time at the water bowl last night?  And she's the one who gets so flakey about a crate -- David told her last night she's begging for one with her antics.  (and all chocolate and drugs are literally under lock & key grrrr)

Vacation is over...back at work.  I think they missed me :)

Had a great time with the kids, grandkids and yes Great Grandson too.  They all came to "Nanny's" house for Labor Day.  Of course I have no pics to post cause I ran over my camera in the spring and have not had an opportunity to replace it yet. :(

The boys, Hot and Rock, had a really good time as the petting was increased by many hands, lol.  My daughter was a pushover for luvins and treats.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I'm confused by the forum again. At one point I could click on general chat and see a linear more familiar forum look, not the sticky note look. Now I can't find that linear look anymore and can't get away from the sticky notes which makes itssooooooo freaking hard to find threads, keep track of what’s new etc. Ugh.

Work is pretty crazy today and certain individuals are highly frustrating.

The weather is cool and windy. Fall has definitely arrived.

I need to find d some Grey pants for work. And some shoes to go with. Shopping.Bleh.

Luna sounds like Co-Co as far as being a complete stinker and iffy about a crate.  She will completely destroy a normal wooden baby gate, and a metal crate.  Now she stays in the kitchen behind a metal, extra tall gate.  She has opened that (not sure how) a couple times, but after they eat I've been putting Dusty in with her during the day and that seems to help.

I know what you mean Jewilee, I like the linear one better than the grid/sticky note one better too.  I have found if I click the first General Chat link I get the sticky note page, but if I click the 2nd one I get the linear one.  I just can't figure out how to get to the 2nd one w/o opening up a thread to get the Home > News & Entertainment > General Chat > General Chat > Thursday Thots path.  Doing it that way works, but takes more clicking/waiting.

So close to vacation, I can barely wait.  And Hannah has no idea, so she is going to just be blown away.

Julie -- I think they're tweaking a LOT but haven't uploaded what will be more of a 'new face' on it incorporating the changes.

"shopping" is an ugly word.  I get most everything online now -- makes my life easier.  "Fall" hasn't fallen here -- yesterday was probably the hottest day since the beginning of July.

However - on the plus side I got probably THE best honeydew melon I've had in years .... and I've got 3 dogs who have been happy happy to share.  About the ONLY thing I miss from up North is the fruit ... but once in a while they do it well down here.  LOL

I'm looking at Downtown Disney to see where it would be good to meet up -- you have to tell me what Hannah likes so I can be "prepared" to chat about what she likes!!!  And I can't wait to see the baby!! -- oh yeah... and Mom 'n Dad too!! LOL

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL sometimes we are are just their "handlers".

Hannah is at that point where almost anything could peak her interest.  Since we'll be down there I imagine she'll have princesses on the brain.  She usually also likes to talk about different games that she plays on the Kindle.  She plays soccer.  When she grows up she wants to be an art teacher, or a fashion designer, or own restaurants and she can go on and on about what kind of food will be served and what it will look like.

Um ... somehow I have this memory of these two gals with me at the Magic Kingdom -- and as the characters swarmed the stage near Cinderella's Castle, one of them said "Oh .... it's .... it's ....the  PRINCESS-ESSSSSSSSS!!"

She's what ... Steph ... 10?? I forget ... and how old is the baby now???  (time goes by so quick)

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL hmmm, sounds like the people in your memory were completely lacking in decorum....

Hannah is 8 (though she likes to tell people "almost 9";) and Aaron is 9 months, but looks like older/bigger.

Julie, if your on the Home page where all the sticky note type threads are, you can go to the dark blue bar near the top of that page and click on The Forums.  That's the linear looking list.  You click on general chat from there and it's in a more linear format.  I much prefer the linear format.

Busy day today.  Then I got all upset about my sister's email about her dog.

My sis is getting all kinds of conflicting information about her dog who now may or may not have cancer. huh?  They already said he definitely had cancer but they had to wait for the results from the biopsy to determine what kind.  She said they want another $500 to test for another type of cancer. WTH?   She's spent well over $3,000.00 and the dog's been through exploratory surgery and still no diagnosis.  The dog can't put any weight on a rear leg and they're giving him NSAIDS only for pain which obviously aren't working at all.

I told her to think about finding a new vet or take him to a vet school or specialist.  They charged her $57.00 for 7 Previcox tablets and he weighs about 70-75 lbs.  That seems very high to me.  She lives in Phoenix and I know the cost of living is higher there but still seems outrageous.  I get 30 days of carprofen for Rex for under $40.00.

I was probably too forceful about it and she may feel defensive now which makes me feel bad and sad.  OK, rant over.

Oooo, Hannah might enjoy a princess makeover at the Bippidy Boppidy Boutique!  If you can find it, I had a thread about taking my granddaughter there.  We also ate at the Rain Forest Cafe, which was great for the little ones!

mmmmm -- you think???  rotfl ....

Jackie -- gosh that is so frustrating -- for you *&* for her.  I think AZ is one of the few states that doesn't have a vet school (IMHA dogs always have a tough time there).  But surely a specialist??  There are times you hear stuff like that and just want to scream at the agony ... *and of course* it triggers difficult stuff for you.   I've got you and your sister on my printer -- bright pink!!  Stickies on printer = good, sticky format?  not so ...

Bippidy Boppidy Boutique?  That's just too funny.  Someone needs to open a shop with that name around here, just so I can chuckle when I see the sign each time I drive by!

Ginger -- welcome back from vacation.  After seeing this crazy new forum format, you probably feel like you could use some more time to rest your brain!  Glad you enjoyed all your extended family.

I like the linear format of "headings" more than what I think you guys are referring to as the sticky note format (that's the squares set out in a grid-style, right?).  When I find myself on the page you described, Jackie, it's still not ideal because you have no way of knowing which of those different "lines" or areas has a new thread in it since last logging on.  I think I need the linear format AND a "Posts You Have Not Yet Read" function.  For now, it's okay because no one is really posting anywhere but in the General Chat, but hopefully that won't always be the case.

I have a conference call in 15 minutes with the consultant for our new software.  My boss is supposed to join us since he's got the info about a couple glitches, but he's been gone for a couple hours.  I hope I don't have to try to muddle through it alone because I don't have a good portion of info she'll need.  Sigh.  Too many new systems are making me feel stupid right now.  Not fun!

    • Gold Top Dog

Jackie, I forgot to say that I hope your sister can get some better information about her dog.  Something doesn't sound right about all that.  No official diagnosis yet, despite the exploratory surgery?  Between that and biopsy/lab results, you'd think they'd be able to give her more definitive info.  What an upsetting time -- not exactly when your head can think straight about finding another vet or going to a specialist, etc.  Good thoughts going her way.

    • Gold Top Dog

Ha! Thanks to Jackie, I can now see the linear format. I'd been wondering what everyone was talking about. I much prefer it this way :)

Jackie - I'm super sorry about the mess your sister is dealing with but I'm just sure she appreciates your support and advice. If she's feeling overwhelmed right now, it's probably not because of you. (((Hugs)))

I'm trying to get as much taken care of today as possible. I'm off Fri. & Mon. and then back for one day before vacation. I always send out an email to our sites to let them know in advance that I'll be gone. It gives them time to get things to me that won't wait until I get back. Unfortunately, it also means I get hammered for a bit after I send the email.

We now have 49 school sites throughout Calif.!! It's scary to think how much we've grown and how fast we've done it. Personally, I think we need to stop growing for awhile but the head honchos don't seem able to say "no" to anyone.
