    Saturday chat

Not so sure this will work, but will give it a try.

Gotta say this new format is confusing as heck.  And S L O W, but it's still Beta?  I'm not exactly a 'puter pro, but I'm thinking that means just a test version?

Yesterday was my last day with the Beacon.  Thurs was supposed to have been our last newspaper, but the boss decided to continue on.  He still hasn't accepted that I'm leaving so later today I'll have to email him, with a nice long explanation of why.  We are ALL leaving.  When you tell your staff that the end date is the 29th, you can't expect them to wait around for you to change your mind.

His editorial this week has me leading the charge to keep the Beacon going.  Lets get all passive agressive and guilt Glenda into staying......Yet, he can't offer a time line, he can't say that the paper will still be going in 60 days.  Money isn't a huge part of my decision since I'll only be making slightly more $, but, the potential exists for a huge increase, and I only have one job to do.

For almost 40 years I've avoided being a sales manager.  Not for lack of offers, but because all I want to do is sell and not be responsible for anyone but me and my numbers.  I don't mind training, I'm good at it, and I don't mind helping a co-worker with a tough client.  But, I don't want to be responsible for someone elses daily sales calls, and production or lack thereof.

Unfortunately, its become a great deal more than just sales management.  I'm the one he relies on for everything not editorial.  Bills need to be straightened out?  Glenda will do it.  Collections made on other peoples accounts?  Pass it on to Glenda  You name it, it falls on my shoulders.  I'm one person doing six jobs and I'm just worn out from it.  Oh and, from only being paid for ONE of those jobs.

Probably way TMI!  Sorry.  But, that's what's been going on with me and why I've been so scarce lately.  But, I've missed all my friends here.  This week I've been trying to go to forum.dog.com and just got the under construction deal so I didn't even know the forum was back.

Many of you know from Facebook that we lost Shadow last week.  Shadow was Sheba's "solo" pup 10 years ago.  Such a laid back mellow guy.  We really miss him.

Does anyone have any great plans for the long weekend?

Glenda -- no I didn't know about Shadow -- I am so sorry.  So ... what are you doing if not at the paper?

So far today I keep running into "dead ends" -- probably all exacerbated by the "long weekend" meaning eveyrone is trying to do everything **now** ... so I'm practicing being patient (not my strong suit)

Hi Callie!  Long time no "see"!

I am actually moving to another weekly.  My first day is Tuesday, although I did my orientation yesterday.  My job is to sell.....and that's it.  This is a start up, like the last one, but this one is being run as a business and not someone's hobby.  They have had a weekly in South County for 25 year and know what they are doing.  I'm excited.  And, even better, I wasn't looking for a job....they came looking for me.

Hey Glenda, glad to see you back!  We have missed you!  It sounds like this is a good move on your part.  You sounded rather hassled before, and knowing how much you liked to do at home also, I was wondering how you managed to do it all without losing your mind!

Frustrating afternoon here...I had bought a small pressure washer last year, but never tried it out (hoping my son might do it :)  With all this rain, my patio is looking green and black and ugly, so I decided to put the thing together today and try it out.  First, the instructions were not very clear for a dummy like me, who doesn't understand all the terminology.  So I went online, and they had obviously revised them so even a female could do it and understand what they were saying.  So I got it figured out with confidence it was done right...hooked up the hose, and couldn't get it to stop leaking.  Sheesh, do I need a new hose?  I know you can replace the fittings, but that's beyond me as to how.  I hope DH is up there looking down and feeling horrible that he is not here...  :)

Hi Marty!  I'm not sure I haven't lost my mind!  But, then, there wouldn't have been much left to loose in the first place!

Sorry about the issues with the  pressure washer.  Hope you get it figured out.

    Marty, how frustrating!

Glenda, sounds like leaving is for the best, you've been running ragged.

Looking forward to a picnic tomorrow a friend of ours is coming with their new little one. She is going a little stir crazy at home. I need to go through my clothes and make sure I have enough for our trip, not so sure I do.

Hey Glenda. Thanks for using the new site. I am so sorry to hear about Shadow. You're quite correct. The site is in 'beta', which means it's still very much under development. I am one of the people that you can shout at for this experience. That said, we know we have work to do to get this format working well and we will do what we can to ensure you get the best combination of the familiar forum experience as well as new formats. Keep watching as we will be making changes in the next couple of weeks. Jonathan

I wish I had known sooner that the site was up and running.  As I said, when I'd go to forum.dog.com I got the under construction page.  I've been trying to come to the forum for about the last week since life started to settle down.
