    Thursday Mindless Babbling 8-29-13

Second to last day at my current job!  Got a little teary eyed saying goodbye to two caregivers last night that I went to visit while they were on shift.  One surprised me with a desk calendar and a couple other little trinkets to bring to my new job.

I finally got some decent sleep last night.  I think exhaustion caught up to me (night prior I got a whopping 1.5 hours of sleep!)

Off to see my mom either Saturday or Sunday.  She's doing much better now and should be back to work next week.  Her union is pushing hard to make her company transfer her to one of the 5 stores in a 5 mile radius to her.  Glad she has such a good union rep!

Sharon -- that *is* great that your Mom's union is being so helpful!  And glad you got some sleep.  I hope today and tomorrow go seamlessly for you!!

Now that I turned the "Evil Fan" off, Ms. Tinkerbell was absolutely FINE racing to her crate this morning before I even could say so LOL.

Sharon, I hope it works out well with your mom's union and they get her a transfer. Good luck at your new job.

My mom is never borrowing my car again. They got back last night. Not that I keep it extremely neat, but she is an absolute slob. Always trash in it, you cant actually put your feet on the floor of her backseat. Her car is that way regularly, but I don't know. Maybe I thought she'd have a little respect for my car. I found m&ms when I got it back last night, more loose m&ms this morning in the little pocket beside my shift column. I eat in my car, but if I drop things, I find them and throw them out. I don't want m&m's melting all over my car. I need to actually remove the stuff I put back into it for my trip this weekend and vacuum to make sure I got them all.

Sharon, glad your mom is doing better. And I hope your new job is awesome!

Jen, I don't let anyone else use my truck. My son did a few times and not only did he smoke in it, he backed into something and dented the fender. Argh. He's a complete slob, too, and I agree with you about food droppings in there - no way, not in my vehicle!

I'm feeling better from whatever cold/sinus thing that was trying to take over my head. And no further insect bites have occurred. I'm happy to report that the one from the other night is not causing me any problems.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Sharon, I'm glad that your Mom is doing well and good luck with your transition.  Jen, that would make me furious.  It's fine if the mess in my car is my own as there aren't any surprises but - just, yuck.

Planning on having a good day here, little bit busier which is wonderful.

I've recently become addicted to Candy Crush and I am regretting ever turning it on.  Sigh.  My best friend and DH are in competition with each other on ridiculously high levels and I'm stuck on 29 or something like that.

I didn't need another reason to feel inferior!!!!!  LOL

    Have a great day, all!

Ugh Jen I'd be ticked off.  If you want to leave a mess in your car fine, but have some respect for other people's stuff.  DH and I both have that attitude and it seams to be rubbing off on Hannah, she gets very annoyed (and rightly so, IMO) when we go outside and she sees that someone has thrown trash, either on our sidewalk or in our yard.  She's a fairly neat kid.

Sharon, glad to hear your Mom's union rep is working hard for her.  Where I work the union pretty much gets their way so hopefully your mom will be transferred soon.

Tina I am happy you are starting to feel better from your cold.

I refuse to play Candy Crush b/c I see so many people talking about it driving them crazy b/c they get stuck, and I know I'd be just as bad.

Aaron goes for his 9 mo. appointment today.  Anyone want to take guesses on stats this time?  His 6 mo. appointment he was 19lbs 14oz. and 27 1/2" tall.

My older sister and I shared a car briefly once in high school. She smoked in it once, and I told her in no uncertain terms, of she did it again, I'd tell on her and make her give me my half of the money from it. I eat in my car all the time, because my job requires me to go from client to client. So, there are inevitably going to be crumbs. But not large pieces of food that could easily be tossed out of the car. I was using my sisters car while they had mine. I ate Cheerios, I dropped some, and when I stopped, I tossed them out of the car. They also tried to be helpful by putting my stuff back, but I had to take it all out again, because it has to go a certain way to fit for when I travel with the dogs.

Steph, his weight will be huge. My 2.5 year old niece is 26 lbs. so by 1 year, he'll outweigh her like most kids do I think.

Hmm my post disappeared. I wonder if it went poof because I said I hated the new forum look?

My 1:45 is going to be late, won't be home till at least 2. So, I get to have Pei Wei for lunch. I love Pei Wei, but the nearest one is where I am now, 30

Minutes away. Though, it's now useless

For me to go to the client. I'm only there till 2:45, and I cannot stay later today because I need to be on time to my 3:30. Till I get set up and clean up, it doesn't give me much time if I only have maybe 45 minutes.

    We have more school drama.

They are complaining that Little Man can't move into Junior Kindergarten from his Pre-K class because he doesn't know his letters yet.

Ummm... you realize that he has learned his fourth language to a fluent level in the last year, right?  He'll be one of the oldest in his class so maybe it will work out well for his confidence.  They did say that they would take him to J-K for their music class as he is advanced in music...duh.

I realize he has a lot of growing to do and he is still adjusting to this culture but they should have discussed this all with us instead of mentioning it as I was dropping him off on his last day before the school curriculum starts up.  Sigh.

We really like this school but they seem to have some organization problems and we never know who his teacher will be one week to the next.  It's a new place, just opened last January and this is the first time their classrooms will be full.  I guess we'll wait and see.

LOL!  Probably not but you never know.  I dislike it too which is why I haven't been around much.  I don't even bother to look at the other threads since there is never anything new.  Boring and annoying sum it up for me.  Maybe it will improve.

Sarah, sorry the school is being so weird. I hope things get worked out so LM can move onward and upward.  I saw the pic of you two at the amusement park.  Picture of joy! Big Smile

Sarah, I can only imagine your frustrations with the school's apparent disorganization.  I'm not a parent, but I think it's a plus that your son will be a little older than everyone else.  Being more mature than your classmates is better than being less mature, I'd think.  And holy cow, he's fluent in 4 languages?  Sounds like he's VERY advanced . . . maybe it's just not the type of thing the "typical" school curriculum is used to considering.  Forgive me if you've mentioned it in older posts and I've forgotten, but what is his native language?  They say English is one of the hardest to learn, so I'd say he's probably doing great, despite their assessment of his "letters" knowledge!

Sharon, leaving a job and coworkers can be emotional, even if you're happy about where you're going.  Good luck tomorrow!  And I hope your Mom gets placed where she can have a 5-mile commute to work!

    Tina, glad you're feeling better.

Jen, I'd be furious if someone messed up my car like that.  Other than DH, no one else drives my car.  Even when I was single, I never let anyone else drive it.

I've never heard of Candy Crush, and it sounds like maybe that's for the best!

I just went to Starbucks to get a Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher (one of the few non-coffee drinks they have).  I also got a chocolate merangue cookie.  It was delicious!  Like a brownie/cookie combined!

    • Gold Top Dog

I am craving the Lime Refresher now, thanks!

LM's native language is Armenian but his multiple caregivers spoke Armenian, Russian and French with him.  He learned English with us.

Having multiple caregivers as a child is the exact reason that I would like him to have consistency with his teachers.  He already has abandonment concerns (not issues yet) and since starting preschool/daycare in May he has had 4 teachers and is about to have two new ones.  That's not even counting subs!

We all know how a dog would respond to that, right?  Be ultra friendly at first and then untrusting?  They would behave friendly for attention but not be able to count on getting it consistently.  Children can be the same way.  Trust me.

    • Gold Top Dog

Sarah, I definitely see what you mean about needing consistency with his teachers.  Every kid (and dog!) needs that in his/her life, but even more so for your son, given his history.  Not that it helps you now, but will this be less of a problem when he's in "regular" daily school (like Kindergarten or 1st grade) since I'm assuming there isn't that kind of turnover in teachers?  Maybe it's more common for that kind of turnover in a daycare/preschool?  It's too bad they can't prevent that.

I sure hope you can work things out to be as beneficial as possible for him.  Poor little guy . . . he's too young to understand why that turnover happens.  He's a very lucky boy having you and your husband in his life now!

Jackie and Julie, I don't like this new format either.  It's not very user friendly.  I can barely manage finding the current day's thread (it requires more clicking and hunting than it should).  I don't like how the posts aren't time stamped and how I can't find threads/posts unread since I last logged in.  I don't check in as often as I used to, either.

    • Gold Top Dog

I've been checking, but really only the General Chat section, since it takes to long to wait for stuff to load.  And there's not much going on since everyone is unhappy.  Kind of a boring place ATM.
