    Sunday Sunday

Karen -- glad Moen sent you all new stuff (now if they could have just "twitched their nose" to install it??)

Jackie -- sad about your friend - that always leaves such an empty feeling.

Julie -- welcome back -- glad that went really well. Nice to hear how great it all was.

    Kate -- been missing you!!

Cathy -- I am SO glad your friend got there safely & you get to mother her a bit. And that Shane has a new fan!! (people gotta queue up to love that boy!! *smile*)

Tracy -- don't let it discourage you from putting down Spanish if you know it -- it may not be a "trendy" skill but it's darned practical AND it shows you have the initiative to learn something. Does that make sense -- I mean it all depends on what a company is looking for. but ANY language always looks good.

Saturday was difficult -- Woke up again with the back/front muscle spasms that leave me so nauseous -- one dr had told me that if that occurred to lie on my back with my knees elevated. I did ... it literally made it 10 times worse when I stood. Not an auspicious start to the day. Husband came to my rescue and massaged the spasms out. I try to stay mum -- it doesn't "help" and who really cares. I've come a long, long way. And ... all three of the doctors keep telling me this particular type of sciatica (where the nerve isn't just trapped in the spinal column, but where it actually gets trapped in muscle) just takes forever and a day to heal... I shoulda known when the first prescription for the mega muscle relaxers was prescribed at max dose twice a day for FOUR refills (months) and "tell me when you need more". I'm off those for over 2 weeks now ... seemed silly to take them when the spasms only happen every 5-7 days or so. Didn't seem to help and dang I hate meds like that.

I shall stop whining now ... I've finally gotten myself off those completely but these spasms only happen maybe once a week but dang ... this is NOT fun and I'm so tired of having to be so frigging "careful"

Ouch Callie! I've got a sciatica in my lower back that flares when I do things I shouldn't (Like remove the seats outta my van by myself.. ) and that's enough for me...

I posted an update on Maze in the health section. Needless to say, it's a relief..

After 30 days of no rain, we've been getting light showers at night and today it looks UGLY! Feels like a storm is coming in but it's to freakin muggy to care..

This past week has been a test on how much I love my job.. I passed. LOL In other words I didn't walk out in the middle of a client screaming/throwing things fit...Thou I did want a glass of wine afterwards..

Dodger has decided that the new kitten is the coolest thing EVAH! Why.. Nigma will actually play with Dodger when he nose-punches the cat.. But we need to work on Dodge calming down when the kitten has zoomies...

Callie, I'm so sorry you've got back/sciatica spasms wearing you down again. I understand how you feel about the meds; it's frustrating when meds that help you feel better in one respect have negative effects in another. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make the spasms permanently disappear! Too bad Tink's fairy dust wasn't more powerful!

Kitty, well done for getting through the testy situation at work. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would say that even though my job doesn't involve clients throwing things at me, there are days when a glass of wine is called for after the workday!

Funny you mentioned the kitten doing zoomies-- Tina mentioned her cat doing them the other day, and I had never seen or heard of a cat zoomie!

My boss's wedding was okay last night. It was at a viticulture center, and the ceremony was outside, so it was a gorgeous setting -- views of the vineyards and surrounding hills, sunny, breezy. Dinner was indoors, and that room was rather sterile (typical education/conference room), food only fair (lukewarm prom-type meal). Toasts and speeches went on way too long and about 20 minutes of photo montage video of their tight knit family and friends. Like us, many people (like 80% of the crowd - probably business acquaintances) left as soon as that stuff was over and the dancing finally started, around 9:30 or so.

SIL and BIL left at 5am - saw them off, went back to bed for a bit, now doing linens and towels laundry. Phew. No guests until September when my Mom arrives!

Tracy, when Nigma does zoomies, I swear he reminds of a someone high on speed. This morning he went ripping around the room, did a flying b!tch slap on Sandy then took off again.. Poor Sandy was just laying on the bed..LMAO!

ETA: Just for Tracy! Nigma starts out like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8JJaANpC_U (not my cat) and then turns into this....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38biewVAAGk

Those were too funny!  The kitten doing circles must've been getting dizzy!  Big Smile

I forgot to post earlier that I read your post, Cathy, late last night.  I'm glad your friend arrived safely and that your "chat fest" is well underway!  I know just what you mean about never running out of things to talk about when you're with your dearest friend.  It's interesting how that only happens with certain friends.  It's a definite chemistry, that's for sure.  Enjoy the rest of your visit together!

I forgot to give you guys the latest Rat Patrol Update.  The kill count is now at 24.  Yes, you read it correctly:  24 rats.  And my other neighbor (to the rear of us, not to the side, where the rats are) just told us he spotted some scurrying around in shrubs that line his fence closest to that other neighbor.  We're calling an exterminator tomorrow -- maybe we can get a group discount.  We need more than the dozen traps set in the neighbor's yard.  We need things set in all our crawl spaces.  This has to be eradicated before the weather gets colder and they start looking to move indoors.  It's seriously creeping all of us out here.  It's like we live in the subway tunnels or something.  Ugh.

Ugh, Traci...I had some rats in my crawl space  and they chewed through some plastic tubing on my brand new heat pump, and water was shooting out (which was the noise I was hearing).  I was apprehensive about the pellets that the exterminator threw in the crawl space, but he assured me it would be fine, the rats would die right there, and the dogs would not be harmed.  And that's the way it was!  With that many rats, you really need to take care of it.

Tracy, I hope  the exterminator can help you get the rats under control.  We see a rat now and then at work and once we had one coming in the yard eating bird seed.  They don't freak me out too much but if they got into the attic I'd be freaked because of the damage they can do to wiring, etc.

DH has been on a weight loss kick.  He's lost 12 lbs in a little over a month.  He has a new app on his smart phone to track calories eaten and calories burned.  He's driving me crazy with it. Don't get me wrong.  I support him 100%.  It's just the constant letting me know how many calories he ate and how many he has left for the day and how many this activity burned and on and on.  I told him that I was sure vacuuming burned a lot of calories.  He totally bought into it and vacuumed everything including the blinds in all the rooms.  Now to look up how many calories are burned cleaning windows.  :)

I've got no motivation to fix dinner.  I bought some nice pork chops and corn on the cob.  I guess I'll grill those and maybe make a salad.  It's so hot outside I don't want to cook inside or outside.

Marty, the damage you experienced is exactly the thing DH is afraid of.  I definitely realize that's a serious concern, but my fear is Ruby catching one.  A couple hours ago -- broad daylight, voices and other noises in our yard and next door -- I saw one scurry from under our Witch Hazel shrub and back into the neighbor's yard.  Ruby was inside at the time, but if she saw one, I know she'd tried to get it.  I told DH I think the rats are gathering together like those monkeys in Wizard of Oz, like an army, preparing to take over all the yards right on our corner.  I imagine them chanting: Oh wee Oh, Oh, Oh -- just loke those creepy monkeys!

Jackie, your DH and my DH must be cut of the same cloth.  He does the EXACT same thing when he gets serious about a diet/exercise plan (it goes in 2-3 month spurts, then he falls off the wagon for a month).  He has an app (don't know which one) and he is constantly announcing calories burned, calories eaten.  I need to point out some high-energy chores like you did.  Great idea!

hahaha! Great idea! Tell him there's a WHOLE LOT of calories to be burned at my house, and he's welcome any time! Wink
