Saturday chat!

    Saturday chat!

Home sweet home! Today is going to be nice and relaxing. The weather is beautiful too. I am sitting outside the airport waiting for for my ride and it is just gorgeous out. The class I was in was a lot of work but very fun. I met a lot of great people and learned a lot. Karen we did that disc profile thing. Isn't that what you do? It is good stuff! I sat next to this one guy from Co most of week and we just had a riot. Before we left he came up to me and said I feel like I need to give you a hug goodby. That was so nice. Totally made my day. I hope we get to work together in the future sometime. I also met lots of people from Puerto Rico which made me really want to visit there bad! I need to learn Spanish one of these days so I can go do a rotational assignment there. Anyway, the class was valuable and a great opportunity to network. Now I am home for a couple weeks then off travelling again. This summer has been hectic! I hope you all had a good week and there were no sickies or deaths, etc. While I was gone!

Julie, glad you had a good week! You should consider a trip to CA one of these days.  You'd get lots of opportunities to practice Spanish.

Where is everyone this morning?  It's almost 10:30 here, so it must be well into afternoon on the other side of the country. Is everyone sleeping in really, really late?

I can see clouds gathering up, but if there's going to be anything resembling thunder storms, it will be up in the mountains and all we'll get in the valley are a few clouds.

Yes Julie I am a DiSC provider and facilitator

been catching up on bits and pieces here - rainy day and that is fine with me

DH is once again working on the kitchen faucet. Moen sent a whole new unit, I am avoiding the kitchen LOL

Glad you had a good week Julie

Joyce NC would be a good place to practice Spanish too :)

Julie, I'm glad you had a great class. Karen, the faucet repair sounds familiar...you just did this while ago, right?

Sunny with those puffy clouds here--just gorgeous. Today is our annual Firemen's Fair so I went and spent some money :-) I think most of the yardsale and booksale stuff just rotates every year or two. (I scored a great sewing machine last year, so keep rotating!)

Mozey had a bath yesterday--she doesn't like it but is very good during the whole thing. (Getting her feet wet really bothers her--she must lick them dry as soon as her bath is done.)

Nice to "see" you, Kate! I was thinking of you yesterday -- my mother was heading to Portsmouth to spend the weekend with my cousins. I missed seeing them when I was in CT last month because they were away. It 's been a few years since I've been to RI, but I'll let you know if I'm ever in the area!

I don't know what the disc profile is. I'll have to google it. Good luck with the faucet situation, Karen!

Glad you enjoyed your work trip, Julie. Learning valuable stuff AND interacting with fun and interesting colleagues makes for a good week.

I just read something about Spanish being so much more common throughout the population that it's less highly desired on a resume than it used to be. It said if you want to boost your skill set, consider learning Chinese or Arabic. I think Spanish would be far more useful to most people, unless you have certain career paths with Asian or Middle Eastern connections.

We have to go to my boss's wedding tonight. Not really looking forward to it. Luckily, another couple who are our long term friends were invited (the husband does work for my employers), so we'll be able to hang together. I've got a bit of resentment over having to buy a gift (and something decent for DH and I to wear) when I've not had a raise in several years. But, it'll be a huge wedding, and I know we'll get plenty to eat and drink, so that's a pseudo-benefit. It's at a venue with fantastic views, and it's a nice day, so that'll make for a pleasant evening, too.

It turned out that our existing faucet was faulty, so the company sent us a whole new. Happily it's all installed.

Crazy B is tired of me hunkering over the laptop so I guess it's break time :)

It was a long day.  The seminar was good and I got to see dog friends that I only see at various seminars.  I did find out that a very old and dear friend passed away a week ago.  He was in his late eighties.  He was a wonderful, intelligent, funny man who could talk about any subject with any person for hours.  I'll miss him even though it's been a few years since I spoke to him.  It's a shame to lose touch with old friends only to find that they're gone.  I'll call his wife tomorrow to express my sympathy.  They trained dogs together, ran a huge ranch together and were truly best friends for over 60 years.

My dogs were very happy to see me and they spent five minutes sniffing my clothes like Hoover vacuums.  :)

Just popping in to say "hi" quickly. My friend arrived safely and we've been chatting non-stop. You'd think we never talked on the phone for hours every week :). We took Shane to an animal adoption event this morning and he did great. There was a litter of what I'm guessing was lab puppies and I had to steer very far away. Adorable!!!

DH is working today & tomorrow, so we're just hanging out around the house. We'll go to the farmer's market tomorrow morning and then my friend's cousin is coming by for lunch and visit. I wish the temps were about 10 degrees cooler so we could spend more time outside.

My friend keeps talking about what an amazing dog Shane is. I already knew that but it's nice to hear others say it too.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

ETA - We were typing at the same time Jackie. I'm sorry about the loss of your dear friend :(

Jackie, I so sorry you had sad news about your friend. He sounds like he was a person we'd all want to know.

Karen, I'm glad the faucet is fixed! What a pain that you had a faulty unit, but at least they company sent another one.

Tracy, I do hope you get to RI! I'll wave to your Mom--Portsmouth is just across the bay from me.

Cathy--your weekend sounds fun--I, too, would have to move past the Lab puppies quickly!
