We were posting at the same time, Karen, but I deleted mine.

Congratulations on the university job offer, Sharon!

Not sure what time your friend arrives, Cathy, but I hope you have a great visit.

Tracy, from yesterday, cat zoomies are sort of like a dog's, though I will say they make a lot more noise running around in comparison to their size. Missy, my 6lb cat, can sound like a herd of elephants running through the house.

I'm pretty mindless this morning.  I need to get a lot done today so I should try and find some motivation.

Belle had an upset tummy this morning.  She puked twice right after she ate breakfast.  When I left she seemed to be feeling better and was bossing Rex around to show him she was still in charge of things.  That's my Belle. :)

I have an all day seminar tomorrow.  It seemed like a good idea when I signed up two months ago.  I hope it's worthwhile because I'm already wishing I hadn't committed.  Dogs are involved so that's a positive. I'm picking up someone who wanted a ride but it's not someone I'm that fond of so that's a negative.  He'll probably have his ear buds in the entire time so that's a positive.  lol

Cathy, hope your friend's visit goes well and she's feeling ok.

I actually over-slept this morning which *never* happens to me. That's no kind of brag .. it's sort of a curse. Grew up in a home where it was anathema to make any "noise" while others were sleeping. that included letting your alarm ring beyond 1 second. or even ringing at all.

So I'm still really not "awake" ... I feel lost in a haze

6 out of 9 clients cancelled at least part of their hours with me this week. 1 of them cancelled on me yesterday 20 minutes before the session. Regularly, I would have already left home when she cancelled, but I was already in the area for another meeting, so at least I didn't drive out for nothing. I also had to do paperwork for one of my kids this week, so I got some money for that. I have some more paperwork and stuff I need to do today, so I can make up a few bucks for that. My client this morning was a total no show. I have paperwork for her, but that company doesn't let me bill it. Two of my clients are actually away for 3 weeks. One is gone till Labor day, another comes back the week after next. I only have two more weeks with him maybe after that. If I am lucky, the mother is pissed and doesn't want us back. I'll have a few bucks from taking care of the puppy, but I'm totally going to be short from everyone cancelling. At least the next few weeks, I do get a bunch of extra hours with one of the kids. Speaking of the puppy and paperwork, I should let him back out for a bit and get some work done.

    Yay for Sharon!

Happy "Hitting the Books" to Karen.

Cats are the loudest runners, evah!

I have a large stack of on-board computers that go in big rig trucks sitting next to me, ready for me to hook up and program. Joy!

DH and I have to leave work early, pick up Little Man and go to the city building to apply for his passport - right in the middle of the day. How are people that work normal hours and can't leave get this done?!? As it is I will have to come back to work and probably stay late.

Well my calm demeanor has whooshed away. I just found out that I will have long stretches training several hours from home. Would have been nice to know that prior to receiving a schedule. I asked what an abbreviation was and learned it meant this other site. For some reason that has me distraught. I could seriously cry. I am sure I will settle down but right now I am freaking out. :(

Karen- You have so many changes going on right now that you are adjusting to. Give yourself a little leeway, this is yet another unexpected variation on the job you JUST started.

Take a moment, and a deep breath. Just do one thing at a time.

I had to read this like six times to figure out why you were crying.  I kept reading that you will have long stretches of training several hours from home (as in within your home),  It took me  a while to get that is was several hours from home (as in distance).

Jackie:  can I get another pat on the head ???

Well, if it's any consolation - my day went to hell in a handbasket at about 8 am this morning and hasn't let up yet.

I'm pulling out the big guns:

    Scorpion

    Ingredients:

    Preparation:

    1. Squeeze the lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
    2. Add all of the other ingredients.
    3. Shake well.
    4. Strain into a highball glass with ice cubes.
    5. Garnish with the lime wedge.

The guys on the news keep talking about heat and no breeze, but it just doesn't seem all that hot to me.  I think I've just gotten to the point where any temperature that only has  two numbers is OK.  Sacramento might not be getting a breeze, but something is making the tree branches move here and that can only be some kind of breeze.

I enjoyed that discssion on cell phones.  Add me to the list of people who rarely pull it out and keep it turned unless I need to make a call, but I do remember to keep the car charger in the car. Smile Given the number of people I see walking around with their eyes glued to the little gadget in their hand, I'm surprised there aren't more people falling into manholes or getting run over.

In his excitement over the "evil killer leaf blower" Max knocked over a potted plant (pretty close to dead anyway) and now I have a nice little pile of dirt and brown leaves to vacuum up sometime today.Tongue Tied

I misunderstood the hours from home thing, too. I don't mind if Jackie pats me on the head. I get that a lot. Huh?

Husband emailed me -- we have tix to maybe the strangest concert event I can think of. Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and Jeff Beck (Yardbirds - he, Jimmy Paige & Eric Clapton all started with them). But aside from being music legends both Wilson and Beck are probably both best known for getting ticked off and walking off stage during a performance. (how do people DO stuff like that and still retain popularity?)

*smile* so I guess that will be memorable!! (both are way more David's type than mine but will be good). But I told him if I have to haul all the way to CLEARWATER for a concert -- then I wanted to do the Marine Acquarium where Winter is (the dolphin with the prosthetic tail who does all the "pet therapy"?) b/c I've wanted to do THAT for a year. So ... maybe I'll get there now!!

That was at least worth waking up for LOL

Cathy -- Luna did similar a couple of nights ago -- there was a "Palmetto Bug" (read "roach that is 2" long and FLIES and bites!";) in the bedroom ... between Luna and David I thot they were going to completely trash the bedroom. sheesh

     That sucks Karen

And Karen -- that's part of what makes a new job so difficult -- what's important to you and what's important to them -- and how things are interpreted (or not mentioned **at all** because they never dreamed it would be "important';) -- that all comes slamming down hard. I hope it all shakes out ok ... but I'm sorry this isn't easier. And Jen - sorry people have been so irresponsible. I'm SO not good at the "self-employed" thing or "contract" stuff -- no ... "his teacher is maybe going to stop by" -- is NOT right .... it's an appointment. It's a job ... it costs money. Be responsible!
