    It's Friday!! Chat

Ahh last day at the office for a week. I won't be on vacation but any day not in the office is a good day. Well Monday will be a vacation day and we are going white water rafting. Rawr! I need to go work clothes shopping soon. That's never very fun. Today will be my first bike ride to work in weeks. Pray for no flat tires. They have been plaguing me lately! Looking forward to no plans tonight and tomorrow except cleaning and errands.

OMG I totally didn't sleep last night. Not the tossy, turny stuff I do normally, completely wide awake, adrenalin surging through me, making me feel hungry.

DH wanted to go out for a meal to celebrate (we did, just a local place) but I was in no mood for celebrating. I am sooooo stressed!! Once this starts on Wednesday my days are LONG and there won't be any room for normal stuff during the week. So I've made an appt for B at the vet because I think his thyroid prescription requires a T4 test. I have to try to re-arrange my allergist appointment that I made 6 weeks ago and it was the soonest appointment. I can't renew my asthma meds without a visit so not sure how that is going to work.

Add in the 428 documents I need to complete asap for the job. And take care of loose ends with current clients and future already planned training events.

Add in a messy, food empty house and 2 people arriving here on Sunday staying through Wednesday

    and Indifferent

But I am still taking B to the NAVHDA training day tomorrow! So there

Well I had best start typing something that is going to alleviate some stress rather than mindless blathering LOL

I haven't been around in awhile, but Karen, my gosh, whatevers going on, good vibes that it all goes VERY smoothly and with a minimum of stress.

Going to be a very fun service day....not.  Pouring rain here which makes it oh so much fun to drop the papers and see my people.

Big changes coming soon on the professional level for me.  Just can't say much at this point, other than that I'm super excited!  And, that I might actually get weekends to call my own again!  What a novel idea.

Julie, I think there must be no worse torture than shopping for clothes.  I look pretty good dressed, but dang, when I get in the dressing room with those harsh lights I look like a hog.  Not good for the old female ego!  And darn it, a size 8 is only a size 8 in a few brands, and then you're sneaking up to 12's in others.  Uniformity in sizes would be a real blessing so you could just grab and go without having to expose yourself to yourself in those mirrors!

Off to spend my day with wet feet!

    Have a good one all!

Sending no flat tire vibes to Julie and de-stress vibes to Karen.

Deb, we obviously need a drink of the day.

Saved me time since the above is what I was going to say. :)

The shelter gal called me this morning to say she forgot to let me know sooner that tonight is a class on TNR.  It's from 6-9 PM.  Decisions, decisions.  Should I cancel date night for this?  I don't think anyone who knows me will have any trouble figuring out what I'll decide.  Drinks

Karen, have fun tomorrow!!  I wish I could go with you.  Bugsy, try not to show up the purebred hunting dogs too badly. :)

Unfortunately, I hover between sized that are sold in different departments, even different stores! I hate clothes shopping right now. I can't wait to lose a little more weight and be able to shop in one store, except my legs won't get any shorter.... sigh.

Karen, I'm sending destress vibes your way. A little over a week ago I felt the same way so I do understand. I dog walker, some deep breaths and understanding that I can only do one thing at a time was my solution.

I am juggling multiple projects and a dentist appt today but no stress, DH is home. Yay!

Gosh Karen, I started feeling anxious just thinking about everything on your plate. Now that I work 1/2 time, I find it hard to remember how I did it all but I did. I know you're worried about Bugsy but I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Glenda - good thoughts for positive job changes for you.

I have a closet full of really nice business suits and dresses that I used to wear when I worked downtown. It's time to find a woman's shelter to donate them to. I sure don't miss dressing up every day. Speaking of - I got my 2nd pair of Teva sandals yesterday and love them even more than the 1st pair. It's so nice to have something as comfortable as my running shoes to wear in the summer.

My friend arrives a week from today and I have a lot I want to get done between now and then. It would be awesome if the weather we're having holds on through her visit. I told her to bring a sweatshirt because our mornings are in the mid-50s. She seemed pretty happy about that :)

Forecast for the weekend;  Cloudy, temps mid-80s, humidity levels ranging from 85% to 99%, chance of thunderstorms and rain (heavy downpours at times).

This can only mean one thing:

    The Monsoon

    1 1/4 oz light rum
4 oz sweet and sour mix
    1 oz pineapple juice
    1 oz passion-fruit juice
    3/4 oz Myer's® dark rum

Combine all ingredients and pour into tall glass filled with crushed ice.

    Monsoon tropical drink

    My work here is done.

Deb -- to be honest I don't think I've ever tasted rum in my life. I think I just need to mail myself to you and let you educate me! ya think?? I mean - that sounds seriously ... deficient ... to me!

Julie -- here's to good wheels and good tires. Glenda -- wow -- you go girl!! (but try to stay dry) Cathy -- enjoy her visit! Karen -- ugh, I so do *not* do 'sleepless' well. But that would be the night I'd just get up and DO something. So *clinking glasses* here's to the "patience of Job" for Karen -- and may everything go well to get it all done! Jackie - continued good thots for you cos I'm sure all your stuff "ain't over". To all those buying clothes -- good luck, but heck no, I'm not going with you!! that's way up there with a root canal! Have a good day -- hopefully I will find out soon how Mom made out at the dr and if we have a diagnosis yet. (and thinking of Sharon's Mom as well)

Karen, no wonder you were wide awake all night.  You've got way too many "To Do's" on your list.  I felt like that just before leaving for CT; it's not a good feeling.  Nothing makes it go away until each of those items is crossed off the list.

I was just talking about clothes shopping with a friend last week.  We were saying how sizes are not consistent from store-to-store.  What I find is that many stores have "down-sized" the old sizes.  Something that used to be a true size 6 is now a size 2 or 4.  Believe me, I know I have not shrunk or lost weight in the past 10+ years, yet I'm wearing smaller sizes.  I think it's a sales tactic by the stores to make women feel smaller and therefore buy more items.

I would love to avoid the dressing room situation like you described, Glenda.  One of my friends only orders things online.  She tries everything on privately at home and then returns stuff that doesn't fit.  She controls the costs by shopping at stores that offer free shipping and/or allow you to return things for free to the brick-and-mortar store in town.  Kind of a good plan, I guess.

I saw a headline this AM that a second winning lottery ticket was shared by a big group of NJ coworkers (15 or 16?).  Back to my point yesterday:  I think it's excellent.  The lives of several people will (hopefully) improve greatly.  I think whether it's one huge winner or several smaller ones, there's always going to be a percentage of winners who cannot manage that kind of financial windfall, so I say increase the chances of success by spreading it over a group.  Can you imagine their excitement when they realized they'd won?  Talk about an office party!  I think I saw they were folks in an area very affected by Storm Sandy, so that's even cooler!

It is a sales tactic called "vanity sizing".

Really?  That's an actual term?  Wow -- I was kind of being facetious when I told my friend I thought it was a conspiracy, but I should've known it was real.  It's kind of the opposite thing we see in the average restaurant, with servings being so huge, "super-size" options, etc.

Boy, we are always being targeted by marketing efforts, that's for sure.

Speaking of marketing and advertising, has anyone seen the commercial with the little girl and her Harlequin Great Dane -- it's for a dog food, I forget which one -- she's painting the dog's toenails and everything.  It's so cute; the dog is so gentle and calm with her.  I wonder if it's really her dog, or if they just managed to cast a pair with perfect chemistry?

This reminds me  . . .  the other night Kate and I were watching tv and that commercial for Cheerios came on where a little boy and his mom are having breakfast.  The boy asks his mother if she ever ate Cheerios with her mom, and the mom says yes.  Then the little boy says something to the effect of "so everytime we have Cheerios for breakfast, it's like eating with Grandma" and you can see the mom trying to hold back the tears because obviously Grandma is no longer with them.

So, I said to Kate "I don't know how that mom held it together because I just want to bawl my eyes out everytime I see this commercial".  Kate looks at me like I have two heads and says "the mom can hold it together because she's NOT the mom - you DO realize she's an actress and this is a paying gig for her, right"??

Duh !!!!  Talk about feeling stupid !!!
