    Moaning Monday Chat

Have fun to the iDoggers heading on their trip

freaking poured down overnight again, the mosquitoes are sooooooooooooo bad. Scratch, scratch.

Beastie nearly got himself a small rabbit today Tongue Tied Dear little rabbit hiding in the shrubs isn't going to save your butt.

That's all, things to do, things to do and a boring day of work ahead

Since I am unsure of whether the notification will go out to Sandy or not - I moved her thread to Spiritual Circle

My morning started at 2am, waking up in a cold sweat and throwing up.  Joy.  First I spend Friday into Sunday with a head cold, and then that.  I'm at work with a pounding headache, but some color has creeped back into my face so I look a little better than just death warmed over.

I have a fun day ahead of me filled with billing and payroll.  Thankfully new office assistant can handle the phones and the schedule for the most part.

     Oh Yuck! Feel better Sharon.

Sharon, I hope you feel better.  I admire your ability to drag yourself into work after a horrible night (early morning) like the one you described!  Keep some ginger ale or tea handy to stay hydrated.

I've been keeping a very full schedule here in CT, but have been able to visit with several friends, which has been fun.  Spent Friday night with some friends down where I lived when I first got out of college - we laughed all evening (and more over breakfast in the morning).  Hung out with a very good friend from NYC this weekend (he does a lot of work in this area and comes back to town regularly, so he happened to be in town).  More laughing.  I wish these people could be part of my regular routine more often -- they're good for my soul.

A couple problems:  I've not slept well since I got here (3-4 hours a night) -- partly due to the time change, but also because the bed here is uncomfortable, the apartment building is noisy, and there's too much light in the room.  Also, we've done so much over-eating that it's starting to make me feel ill.  Last night I took 2 bites of dinner and had to stop.  The sight of the plate was turning my stomach.  I'm just not used to eating so much heavy stuff!

Funny comment from DH last night when I talked to him.  I didn't tell him to do any chores while I was gone other than to cut the dead heads off a couple particularly heavy blooming dahlias.  Yesterday he decided to do the laundry I typically do on weekends.  Last night he said, "I did laundry ALL day.  I didn't realize how much laundry you do on the weekend!"  I guess it's human nature not to appreciate what people do until they're gone, whether it's at a job or at home! :-)

I was so sad to hear about the sudden deaths of Leslie's Tasha and Sandie's Lacey.  I can't imagine how they're feeling.  My heart is heavy for both of them.

    Feel better, Sharon !!!

Husbands doing the laundry can be a scary, scary thing.

Anyway, I lost my shirt on the Haskell yesterday.  So what do you do when the horse you bet the house on comes in fifth ??  You say 'HORSE FEATHERS" and move on.

    The Horse Feather

    2oz whiskey

    4oz ginger ale

    2 dashes of bitters

Pour everything over ice in a rocks glass and stir.

Had a decent weekend, was off from the track job due to the county fair taking over the fairgrounds. I did a bit of clearance rack shopping, cleaned my garage, took a long nap. When I was cleaning the garage, a Chihuahua came from the neighbor's yard and down my driveway. I squatted down, whistled, and he came right to me, leapt onto my lap, and proceeded to lick my face. He was unbelievably cute (and I am so not a little dog person)! He was visiting 3 doors down and escaped from his people.

Sorry you lost your shirt Deb. I was sad to see Take Charge Indy pulled up in the 10th race. Early word said sesamoid fracture, have you heard anything else?

    Feel better Sharon!

I think it was a migraine that woke me up at 2 am in retrospect.  I did have a stabbing headache on the right side of my head, but I was really out of it to really make sense of what was going on.  Now I feel like I usually do with a post migraine hangover.  With my allergies, cold and migraines, I can't seem to catch a break lately.

I had to drag myself into work today.  I'm the only one who knows how to do billing and payroll.  *sigh*

In other news, another job opened up at the university that I applied for and have an interview for this week.  Don't get me wrong, I love what I'm doing right now, but I have been asked to do some things that violate dept. labor (yeah not happy about that and let it known, and followed the law and just didn't say anything to my boss - never ask me to violate laws or my ethics) and outside of vaca time I don't get benefits. Thankfully, I don't need medical or dental benefits (get those through my significant other). The university has a rocking retirement plan and that benefit alone makes me want to work there (there are many other reasons).  At this point, I'd only leave my current job if I could get into the university.

They're saying it was a condylar fracture in his left front leg.  The State Vet said over the loud speaker that he was splinted right away and in no danger of being put down.  I feel sorry for Stevens, though.  He said Oxbow was off too and he pulled the saddle as soon as he crossed the finish line.  The Vet said maybe a soft tissue injury.

Very true.  I wasn't concerned when he said he did the sheets, towels, and Ruby's blankets, but when he said he did the stuff in my laundry basket, I choked a bit.  He said he made sure it was all safe for him to wash, not my "nice clothes," as he put it.  The question is:  how does he define "safe" and "nice?" Tongue Tied

DH has done laundry a few times but it requires so much oversight it's hardly worth it.  Tracy it was nice of your DH to do it and I hope he didn't ruin any of your clothes in the process.

Tracy, sorry you aren't sleeping well.  I usually can't sleep well when traveling unless I take Benadryl and even that doesn't help if it's too loud or not dark enough.

Feel better Sharon and good luck with the university interview this week.

I have a bad feeling of dread for this coming work week. DH is leaving this morning and will be back on Friday evening - much longer than usual. When I consider whether or not I can handle everything for that long I feel myself becoming overwhelmed.

I have to figure out how to give myself some leeway during each day.

So sad for those that have lost their dogs and thinking about Monroe's age.

Wow. Am I ever morose today!

    • Gold Top Dog

Sarah -- never bite off any more than **today**.  It's always too much ... Lil Orphan Annie can sing all she wants about "The Sun'll come out TOMORROW" ... but dang -- just do today.  It's all any of us can handle!!

Tracy I never *ever* sleep well anywhere but in my own bed!

Deb, I don't know where you "find" all those      drinks ... you keep me from getting stodgy! LOL   But, I'd be good just with ginger ale this morning to be honest.

Sharon -- migraines are the worst.  I can never throw up with one because if I did my head really **would** fall off and bust apart.  ugh -- passing you my little bottle of White Flower Oil.  without it I'd be sunk.

I'm still feeling so sad for Leslie and Sandie.

It is a bummer Monday for me, I have to leave to take Abby to the vet in 15 minutes.  Saturday afternoon she was running a round outside playing and then all of a sudden she wasn't using her hind leg, so I she over did it. Checked it for spurs or anything else, she didn't cry when I was moving it all around but she was still limping.  I had her on kennel rest and carried her up and down the steps all weekend, still not better today.

Taking her to the vet.  Of course I have to take Freida with, can't leave her alone - ugh!  Just hope it is nothing bad.  She came from a puppy mill and her hind leg was never right from birth (always bent inward and she would skip on it once in awhile)  and that is the one that is hurting her now.  I feel bad for her, worried.

Sorry, but no one likes a bummer Monday!  (I would rather have a migraine then have Abby hurt.)

Ouch - Mare -- gosh I hope it's nothing serious.

    • Gold Top Dog

I hope it's nothing serious with Abby!  I'd rather deal with a migraine than to see any of my furry kids hurt/sick too. Hopefully she just tweaked it a bit and just needs a little more down time.

Callie - you reminded me I need to get some white flower oil!
