CKC registration question

    CKC registration question

I recently submitted an application for standard registration for one of my dogs, to the CKC (Continental). I filled out the form, submitted it along with three pictures as it dictates, and the $15 fee for the standard registration as listed on the form.

I received a letter yesterday stating they had only received partial payment. It listed the requested service as PAW-STANDARD-REGISTRATION with a fee of $30. The check I sent has already cleared the bank, and it listed a balance of $15.

I've emailed them for clarification and expect a response tomorrow.  But in the mean time I searched their site for any mention of a PAW registration and couldn't find any mention of that type of registration and double checked the downloadable form to make sure I'd read the fees correctly.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on?  I guess it's possible they've changed their fees, and haven't updated the form? But I clearly recall calling and speaking with a rep before I submitted, because I had a question about another dog, and I'm pretty sure I clarified the fees at that time?

My understanding is that a Continental Kennel Club registration is worthless... hopefully others will chime in.

It's good for identification purposes and proof of ownership for dogs that didn't come with AKC papers... that's about it.

Yep- that CKC is more a scam.

Hopefully this will come out right- if that's why you're registering with the CKC, you can accomplish the same thing with a microchip.  Also, mixed breeds can now be registered with the AKC through their Canine Partners program http://classic.akc.org/mixedbreeds/index.cfm and, unregistered purebreds can be single registered through their PAL (Purebred Alternative Listing) http://www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm

I heard back from the CKC, and got it all straightened out. Thanks.
