Happy Saturday chat

    Happy Saturday chat

Hi everyone.  We survived (barely) that gawd awful 3 plus week blast of steamy southern heat and are really enjoying the cooler, more pleasant weather.  80 isn't so bad after that steam bath!

You know you've been slacking on weeding the garden when you pull out a clump of weeds and taters are in the roots!  I spent 5 hours weeding last Sunday and got the worst 1/2 of the garden done.  I even found my basil plants and a bunch of squash!  Between the heat and humidity and long work hours, oh, and the blood thirsty skeeters who ring the dinner gong when they see me coming, I just hadn't been able to get down and weed.  Hopefully I can get the rest of the garden weeded today.  I'm not anal about a few weeds, but, gosh when you can't see the produce for them.......

Hope everyone is doing well....haven't had time to go back and even attempt to catch up.

    Morning sunshine!

Today is shopping day. I need to hit the outdoor store and grocery store. Get the dogs packed laundry done meals planned maps printed and so on. Good thing I am up early and already drank my coffee! Which lily tried to help with as usual.

I slept late for me.  I could not fall asleep last night.  Lots to get done today and no motivation.   It was 93 last night at 10 PM. :(

I just saw Sandie's post about her Dad and Lacey.  Sending her lots of good thoughts and vibes.  That's a lot to deal with all at once.

The little tree frog I saw on the sliding glass door a few weeks ago is now tucked into the track of the door.  It's where the screen door slides and we don't use the screen door.  I have to watch carefully so it doesn't decide to jump into the house.

People keep telling me that we're supposed to cool down noticeably soon.  I'm still waiting.  I'm really getting tired of summer, which could be because of the super high temps we had awhile ago and there's still about 2-1/2 months to go. At least  the late nights and early mornings are cool and comfortable.

I discovered yesterday that someone actually removed one of my bumper stickers, so I guess I'll have to replace it.  Maybe I should get a few of them.

Joyce - we're supposed to be 87 on Monday. Won't that feel nice? It actually feels cooler today than it had been but it's only 1:30. I too am a bit tired of the super high temps. I like warm weather but it's been uncomfortably hot for what seems like a long time.

DH is installing a lap licker for Shane. We had 2 at the other house and Shane used them all the time. Since we moved in here, he got into the habit of standing in front of a spigot until you turn it on for him. He'll be very happy to see what his dad has done for him.

I didn't see what was going on with Sandy, so I'm to try to find out. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.

    What is a lap licker?

I will take some of the heat you all are getting. It is only 65 here. I would like it a tad bit warmer. Like 75ish. I never really put my winter/fall clothes away this year and now I am packing them for next week. Sad summer!

Yeah, what is a lap licker?

I got myself hooked on those hidden picture games on Pogo. com this week.  Spent entirely too much time doing them, but I did manage to stop short of paying money to get more.

Okay, so I guess either DH or I made up the name lap licker. It's like an automatic watering thingy. When Shane presses it with his nose or mouth, it trickles out water. Both Buffy and Sassy used them too. Here's a link - http://www.amazon.com/Lixit-Original-Dog-Faucet-Waterer/dp/B0002UOIZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374966006&sr=8-1&keywords=dog+licker
