Today is going to be a really rotten work day. But at 5 I AM DONE! I can't wait to be out of cell phone land next week Lily keeps trying to get me to pet her with my foot. I am sitting here cross legged and she is rubbing herself all over my foot. Does anyone else's dog do this? I swear this dog is loopy.

Yesterday I went with DH to a place that sells gear for military and LEO - we know the owner and I had asked whether they carried a brand of pants for ladies too. Its a dumpy kind of shop but FULL of great gear. I wound up getting two pair of pants - my intent is to use them for hiking and field work. I thought of you Julie because I bet they'd be awesome for SAR stuff.
Anyway our little excursion turned into a chat over a few beers and me wishing that a) my liver could handle more than two drinks LOL; and b) it was Friday not Thursday. Ah well I didn't get up AS early as usual but its going to feel like a long day

Meanwhile my version of a canine nuisance is driving me insane, his inability to be normal speed is both hysterical and frustrating.

OK if I don't do something with him very soon I will kill him

Oh and the best news I've got is that I woke up to 62* Big Smile Going to go into the low 90's but its the lowest humidity and clearest sky we've had in months

Monroe and Morrison had a lovely romp with DH this morning since it is a nice, cool day here.

Yesterday I got to play with broken equipment that had been sent back, trying to figure out what the problem is. If I'd know that I could make a career out of breaking stuff.....well. I just can't leave my desk for too long because installers are calling me to remotely program their device. Fun times.

The blog post on Ichthyosis (a rare, genetic skin condition causing thickness, flaking, redness and general discomfort that affects both myself and Little Man with different types) went over well. I believe that folks picked up on the humor in it. Hopefully, it raised an interesting question and spread some awareness at the same time.

Some of my friends read it and commented that they didn't know that much about Ichthyosis, even though they know me so well. It's a good feeling!

Those cool temps sound wonderful.  We wake up to 80 and humid and it just gets worse from there. lol

Working with men is so funny sometimes.  Tongue Tied They can be so different in the way they interact with each other as opposed to the way women do.  Especially blue collar guys who pride themselves on being rough and tough.  One guy was teasing another about his handwriting being sloppy.  That guy said "you write like a girl".  I offered gold stars for the best handwriting next week.  That caused a lot of hilarious kidding.

Julie, I hope your day isn't as bad as you're anticipating.

Sarah, I had to google Ichthyosis. Interesting stuff.

Jackie, that's so true about how men relate vs. women.

We have a girl interning 2 days a week and she didn't show up today. Boss asked if I knew where she was. No, I don't. She's not doing anything for me, so hardly speaks to me. She's been sick the past 2 weeks so it's just as well that she's not here, IMO.

I hit my head on the vanity yesterday morning and have a nice lump today.  Embarrassed

I have 2 more ripe pear tomatoes! Woo hoo!

Why are oatmeal cookies and granola so yummy, but a bowl of oatmeal is totally unappealing?

Must be the crunch.  I like oatmeal in the winter but it has to be cooked exactly the way I like it and I won't eat that instant stuff.  It's like gummy goo.  Ick!

I'll be losing all my money at Monmouth Park on Sunday for the Haskell Race.  I'm betting the house on "Pick of the Litter".  Probabaly doesn't have a shot in Hades of winning, but at 15/1 I can't resist.  No matter how much money I lose, I will thoroughly enjoy downing about a dozen or so of the Haskell's signature drink:

Official Haskell Drink - The Summer Wind

    What you'll need:

    1.5 oz Vodka
    0.5 oz Triplesec
    3 oz Sour mix
    Fresh limes

Directions: Serve over ice gently shaken or stirred. Garnish with thinly peeled lime rinds or lime wedges.

Went to bed thinking of Leslie and Tasha and woke to read the sad news :(. Run free Tasha.

Another hot day but then we'll cool down and be in the low 90s most of next week. That's going to feel sooooo good!!

Julie - I hope you have a fantastic time next week. Wish I was going too but I trust you'll take a lot of pictures for us.

I have my eye dr. appt at 9, so I'm stalling on feeding Shane until then. He seems to think he should eat now though.

Shane doesn't react to noise on tv usually but there's a Coit carpet cleaning commercial that starts with a ringing doorbell and he barks every single time he hears it and wants me to go check the door - lol

    hahaha

Bugsy also ignores TV but currently we have some commercial for a new development and it has the guys from Duck Dynasty (or lookalikes) on and they do a duck call. Every time, B's head whips around.

It is so sad about Tasha. Sad

Jackie we have EARNED a morning in which one can see out the windows LOL

I bathed Bugsy and his white chest is no longer lake green.

I am an indiscriminate oatmeal lover. I find the packets too sweet and strongly prefer making it from whole oats but I like-love all of it. DH has never forgiven me for choosing porridge for breakfast when we were at a 5 star resort in Scotland. It was the most spectacular spread for breakfast you could ever imagine and I came back with porridge, followed by yogurt and muesli. Embarrassed

I think that eating porridge in Scotland is perfect!

Hmmmm...... DH is ordering Chinese for lunch (he works in the same building). Lunch Date!!!!

Eye dr. appt went well but long. This guy is wonderful but very, very chatty. I did find some of the stuff fascinating and he's obviously very passionate about his work. He put the ductal plugs in the lower eyelid and I'm so hoping that'll help. He also had no qualms about prescribing the Restasis, so I picked that up too. He found that I have narrow angle glaucoma and will need laser surgery in the not so distant future. My friend had the same thing and the surgery, so I wasn't unfamiliar with the condition. I was just glad he didn't want to jab me in the eye today. I was going to get my mammo done but the wait was an hour and I'd already been there long enough. I'll go 1st thing in the morning one day soon.

I eat oatmeal a few times a week. I like the packets with fruit and cream but I also add some greek yogurt. I'm sure it's not the healthiest but I find the packets very convenient for work and the microwave.

Cathy, I'm glad the eye appointment went well and you liked the doc.  It's good he found the narrow angle glaucoma and that it's correctable with laser surgery.  Hope the plugs work for the dry eye.  I should check into that next time I go for an eye appointment.

Karen, it's very hard to resist puppies.  Very, very hard.  Foster a litter and you may be more resistant to their charm. lol   I'm sure Bugsy would be thrilled to be a fairy godfather and your DH wouldn't mind. Much. lol I'm completely immune to puppies and Gabby is proof of that. Wink

Porridge in Scotland does sound impossible to resist.  I've always thought it must be like mush and taste terrible based on reading novels set in England. Perhaps that's not the best source of accurate info though. lol  I'm sure I would have loaded up on everything else too.  Except kidneys.

Deb, that drink looks great!  I think I'll have two as they look so tiny on my monitor. :)  Good luck with your horse.  It's gotta win based on that name!

I love oatmeal most any morning, except when I have the urge for  an egg.  I get the box of minute oatmeal, nuke it, then stir in some frozen blueberries.  My son uses a variety of dried fruits.  Much more satisfying than those expensive packets!

I have a new grandniece, Talia Claire (after her great-grandmother, my MIL).  I'm really happy for this niece to have finally found her guy and a family.  She wanted it so much and the clock was ticking!  BTW, she is a veterinarian who has wanted to be one since she was 8 and lost her beloved dog.  Dreams do come true!

    Congrats Marty!!

The oatmeal in Scotland was lovely, I put cream (heavy cream) on it and fresh fruit. I can still taste it's yumminess. Of course that may have been the setting :)
