HMM edited to add: Her link wasn't working -- this is what I got when I followed the bouncing ball on Banfield's website: http://www.banfieldcharitabletrust.org/pet-news/helping-pets-injured-in-oklahoma-tornado/http://www.banfieldcharitabletrust.org/pet-news/helping-pets-injured-in-oklahoma-tornado/
We all know how incredibly careful we must be when donating to situations like this. A friend of mine (actually the lady that helped us adopt Tink after she came out of Ft. Hood) just sent me this.
I have not checked this out -- but she has a number of "first responders" in her family - particularly near Blanket, Tx (and she also has family up in Oklahoma near Moore). Because she's done rescue for ages, **and** most particularly because she's seen the 'bad side' as well as the property done stuff, she's very careful. But I told her to let me know if she found something particularly worthwhile. So that's the full extent of all I know but I thot since we have so many in the general area I'd post what Rita just sent me (since she gave me leave to do so) This is specificially about Oklahoma I believe.:
FROM HER EMAIL:
They can donate to Banfield's fund and there are listings of other rescues that are helping. You have to be so careful about donating in situations like this.
Initially all the animals were being taken to Home Depot, where I will be spending a lot of my money for home repairs in the future. They set up a triage and had a veterinarian there to care for the animals being dropped off. They have since moved to the Fairgrounds and several veterinary clinics are also taking animals. Some Texas rescues are also there now.
I have really been surprised at the number of exotic birds that they've found. And lots of livestock, horses, donkey's rabbits..."
