Foggy Tuesday

Julie - I too feel for your sister. How frustrating for her but I'm glad she's got you to lean on.

    Good thoughts for Charlie.

Kisses will be delivered to Shane from Auntie Deb tonight. I tried to upload some pics here yesterday but wasn't able to. I think it's because I'm using chrome :(.

Sharon - congrats on the promotion!

I had quite the time getting my crown done yesterday. This dentist is amazingly kind and patient or it might've been a horrible experience. He numbed me up and gave it time to work. He started drilling and I felt fine - no feeling on the tooth at all but the whole right side of my jaw (the side being worked on) started to ache pretty badly. He stopped and said he thought it was either a different tooth or sinuses causing the pain. With my mouth closed, it subsided, so he started again. Within a minute or so, I started having the most intense pain in the sinus area on the right side. omg - it hurt so bad :(. He stopped and I sat up and rubbed that area like crazy - feeling a little bit like the crazy patient all the while. He had his asst. get me some ibuprofen and I took that and with the rubbing and sitting up, it eased up and he was able to finish prepping the tooth and all was fine from then on. I had been using the Flounase (sp?) spray and taking an allergy pill every day lately but I hadn't done either yesterday, so I won't make that mistake again.

I met the neighbor's new dog. Very cute, very athletic body. That dog needs a job. I'd love to throw a weight pull harness on her. I bet she'd fit Callie's just to try out.

Cathy, that sucks about the dentist, but yay that they were patient and figured out the problem. I often, when I go to the dentist, take extra allergy meds. I'll usually take a decongestant. I  don't know if it really works, but I tend to gag when they work on certain spots, and I heard that could help the issue. Definitely never skip allergy meds at when you go to the dentist. They get into areas that can aggravate the allergy stuff.

Editing again... I can't focus today. Still the music on one side. The dogs are out now on the other, but now the cleaning lady is there vacuuming. I'm going to go get water ice and head to work.  Too late now for the library.

Cathy - how do you get paragraphs to show up in Chrome. I use it to and can't get them to show up. Very frustrating and one of the reasons I don't post as much because it drives me batty!!

I'm super busy today but I need to vent. When the mail carrier delivers a box that doesn't fit in the mailbox, she drives up the driveway and beeps. So today I hear a beep and I'm all excited because I know what it is.

She takes the box out and shakes it so I can hear the sound of broken glass moving around. She said it was like that when she got it and she was going to scan it as damaged. I am sooooooo bummed. It was a really nice glass jar with a screw-on lid, a pour spout spigot thingy, and an infuser in the middle. Shattered.

I called Zulily and they gave me a refund and a $15 credit, but they can't replace it because they're sold out. I actually cried. I've been looking for something like this for so long, and finally found an affordable one. I sent a message to the manufacturer asking if I could just purchase a jar directly from them, since the lid, spigot, and infuser were not damaged. I really hope they get back to me. Crying

Janice -- how disappointing!  You'd think the place would know to pack something so fragile in sufficient protection.  I hope you're able to get the jar directly from the manufacturer.

Cathy, that sounds like a miserable dentist appointment!  I never thought about allergy meds (or not taking them) affecting how you feel during dental work, but it makes sense.  I've had sinus infections that have made my teeth hurt, so all that stuff is inter-connected.

Bugsy -- I'd need roller skates to keep up that pace with you!  Wow!

Tina, I'm sorry your DS's behavior is causing you to consider criminal activity.  Wink  If we can't help bail you out, we'll send you plenty of chocolate to make the prison stay a bit more tolerable!

Sharon -- I hope the university job comes through, but if not, I'm glad you've got a new opportunity at your existing place.  That should help in the meantime!

Julie, I'm sorry your sister isn't feeling fully supported by other people in the family.  I was talking the other day with a friend who has the opposite problem.  She's the grandparent, and she always thought something was going on with her grandson, but no one else did.  Eventually, a grade school teacher intervened and he was found to be on the autism spectrum (high functioning).  But now the problem is the parents are rather passive about doing anything to help him.  They are very low income and live where the school system is lousy, but they don't even try to educate themselves about things they could try at home on their own.  My friend tries to suggest how they could be more involved or proactive, but they just let things be.  She knows he's being short-changed and it makes her sad.

Thanks for all the well-wishes for my Mom -- she has definitely "turned a corner" -- and in fact SHE fixed dinner last night (first time she's been able to be "up" long enough to do anything) **and** she was excited about what she made them to eat! Phew!!

Charlie spent another night glued to my leg -- it's that danged "water falling from the sky" thing -- by mid-summer last year he got used to it but the fear is back again this spring.  In fact, we were getting ready to go out, David had put the dogs out and Charlie had a panic attack wanting in ... David was clueless but before he and I got TO the car the sky opened up.  Should send him to Doug -- the dog's a better weather-guy than most meterologists.

When he panics I gotta say -- listen to the very very end of the Who's "Baba O'Reilly" -- he's not crazy enough to be Keith Moon, but I think he does a very impressive Zack Starkey!!  But for all the world that's **exactly** what it sounds like - frenetic drumming.  I don't know HOW he can make his paws beat on the door that fast.

It would truly be funny if my heart didn't break so badly for him.

    (((Jan))) - I'm so sorry!!

Lisa - to get paragraph breaks, I use a (no spaces) twice. There are other tricks to doing stuff with Chrome but that's the only one I know and use.

This allergy thing has been a totally new issue for me. I've never had bad allergies or taken medicine in my life until the last few months. It was only because of the pain in my ear and the dr. saying it was caused by fluid build-up from allergies that I started taking a pill every morning and using the spray. When I went for my physical, she said there's still fluid in the ear (clear - so no infection) and to keep taking the meds. Since I don't have big problems, I forget sometimes though. One thing that reminds me regularly is that I can't sleep on my tummy anymore. If I try, it feels like I need to try to clear my throat or I'll choke. I'm sure it's related to the sinus drainage - blech! ETA - no idea why but it took out what I showed for a paragraph break. So, let's try this. You use a less than sign, followed by a small p, followed by a greater than sign. I do it 2 times but I'm not sure that's necessary.

This website is wonky!! It took out the description of how to get page breaks and won't post my edits to add the info - grrrrrrrr Lisa - use a less than sign, a small p and a greater than sign with no spaces. I use 2 but I'm not sure that's necessary.

with Chrome or Safari you need to put  < /p > at the end of each line that you want a break after

I put a space after < and one after the p, so it didn't make a break but those are not needed

Safari is what's on an iPad, right?  I was using DH's iPad over the weekend and tried posting here, only to get the huge long paragraph.  So, I'll try this trick next time I use it.  Cathy, you didn't mention the forward slash, but Karen, you put one in there.  Is one needed?

I need to take a class on everything connected to Apple products.  I've had my iTouch for 4 years, and it has the same music on it that I loaded the first couple times I used it -- and I've never downloaded any podcasts or anything.  If I traveled a lot, I'd use it more, but now I just listen to some music on the rare occasion I go on a walk or to the gym alone.

    Hope I remember everything........

Yea for your rain Jackie, Congrats to Mr. W's retirement....bless your heart Deb.  Sorry about both Charlie's, hope one is feeling better and one is getting some sunshine, Jen hope you are feeling better, Callie I am so happy that your Mom is feeling better.  Yea for Bugsy and btw, Mom needs a stress free zoomie free day young man :)

"Happy Gotcha Day Shane"   It is certainly a celebration for you and your humans, a house full of love and furr makes everyone happy!!!!

I cant believe I missed Johnny!  Did he call us old...or hags...lol, I am sure glad he is doing well in school.

Colonoscopy went as well as they go.......good for 10 years the man said.   Thats a good thing cause any sooner than that I might have to fight someone Angry  I am inclined to believe childbirth was easier.... it has been a few years since that tho.

I have been re-posting or "pinning"  BBD's from Petfinder to my Pinterest account.  Hoping to get more exposure for adoption.  Here is my rant....I almost want to cry at the number of dogs in just the two seaches I do each day  which is  Big Black Dogs and Berners.  So many are owner surrender, cant take care of me anymore.  This week there is a Dobe beautiful male, several Rotties, a couple of Landseers, Labs, Danes, even a Ridgeback and lots of other gentle giants.  I know I am "preach'in to the choir"  but some days it really gets to me.   I would love to help them all but cant, I hope the exposure does help some of them.

It is sunny and 80 and beautiful here and we will be in the mid thirties they say on thursday night with more rain.  Is it spring yet?????

Ginger -- glad your colonoscopy went fine.  I'd say 10 years isn't long enough to want to delay another one!  Tongue Tied

I understand how you feel about seeing so many homeless dogs.  I feel the same way when I look at our local shelter's website.  My heart especially hurts for the middle-age to senior dogs (and far more cats!) who are waiting to be adopted.  It's not often an adopter wants a pet who may not be with them for many years and/or who may have expensive medical issues due to their advancing age.  When I see the photos of the older eyes and greying muzzles of 11-year old labs or 9-year old boxers, I just want to cry.

I know people have terrible things happen in their lives that cause them to give up pets, but I'd live in a tent on the street before I gave up my dog.  I hope I'm never faced with that kind of crisis.

Edited to add:  Thanks for the test, Karen.  I will remember that helpful tip!

Oh, I wish you hadn't said that. I have yet to get one done cause I'm a big chicken. I'm glad you're good for 10 years though!!

I'm thinking about treating myself to a Kindle Fire. I'm having trouble justifying it because DH and I both have laptops, plus a I have a netbook I never use. I know the Kindle would be for different purposes but...I don't know. i guess it feels frivolous. I wish I'd asked for it for my birthday but the next gift giving time is our anniversary and that's not until October. I have so much trouble splurging on myself but I did sign up for Nature Box because they had a 1/2 off offer. I got it last week and it included 6 pouches of different "healthy" snacks and I've loved each one of them. I'm not sure it's worth $20 a month but I kind of like the idea of a package of goodies coming in the mail. ETA - Geesh - sorry for the mindless rambling. This is the time of day I usually need a nap ;)
