    Foggy Tuesday

not just my brain is foggy! Wow its really thick out there!

I was sitting on the floor stretching and reading earlier when B walked right up to me and stuck his nose about an inch from my face. I asked him if he wanted breakfast and he nose-punched my iPad firmly. Um OK breakfast it is! LOL

After successfully squelching zoomies at one point yesterday I wasn't around when the burst out a bit later. I was on a client call and he came flying in and performed some insane things and I couldn't stop him due to the client call. No damage to the walls or him so we are all OK

I hope Charlie is feeling better today

and that Shane doesn't have a Gotcha Day hangover

and Callie's mom keeps getting better

hmmm was there more? no doubt but unfortunately my brain is foggy Wink

Hey Deb did you survive the post retirement weekend celebration??

better your ipad than your face lol. Nose punches to the face are neiko's specialty.

Ditto what you said about all the people and dogs feeling better!

i talked to my sister for quite a while last night and gave her lots of encouragement for the help she is getting for my nephew. He is 5 and has adhd and odd and he is extremely difficult to handle. She is trying so hard but her husbands side of the family keeps discouraging her and telling her he is just being a normal boy and doesn't need behavior therapy and so on. BS. He's not just a normal boy. He has anger problems, can't focus etc and is already being ostracized at school. I feel pretty bad for my sister but she is doing a great job learning how to parent him and teaching him new skills (working with their therapist). The last thing she needs is people making her feel like the bad guy (which they were doing).

Oh Julie!  I got plenty of that with my youngest son who is also ADHD.  If your sis wants a shoulder, please feel free to give her my email addy.  Having a child like that is tough and made even worse when everyone around you has to toss in how stupid YOU are in your handling of the situation.  Lots of hugs for her and her son.

Its so pretty here today.  Yesterday was overcast and pretty gloomy, so I'm thrilled to have the sunshine back.

A full half of my garden is now planted, and the other half is stuff that can't go in yet.  Boy, did I pay for that though!  At least now when I sit it doesn't feel like I'm sitting on rocks!  Owiee!  I think I'm fairly active, but when I do stuff like that I find out that I'm really just a slug!  Sore muscles in the back and shoulders I expect, but butt??  Legs?  Ankles?

Oh well!  The first half is done and I'm pleased with it, so that should be good enough not to fuss.

Hope everyone has a great day.  I'm off to the trenches.

Aw Julie I am sorry to hear what your sister is going through - it is tough enough to have to fight to get the right support for your child/self but to also have to fight family is awful! Lots of places seem to have support groups now for parents of kids with behavioral problems/ADHD etc. Hopefully she can find a local group

I need to do a shameless brag:  Bugsy did 2.3 miles this morning in 32+ minutes - that includes loads of sniffing and several poop stops. Average pace was just under 12 minutes/mile with a fastest pace of 9.5 minutes/mile

I guess the zoomie episode didn't hurt

Yeah Bugsy!! I feel for your sister Julie, I had to fight mostly with my family that something was wrong. It's hard to admit but she is his mom and is doing the right thing. Charlie is definitely limping. His appetite is good (shocker), poop and pee good, so I am not too worried at the moment. He is resting comfortably in our/his king bed. Is there anything OTC I can give him. I don't want it to feel too good as I don't want him to overdue it, but I would like to ease his discomfort a bit.

that's a pretty quick pace Karen!

Lisa, I don't think I would give him much. When Abbie gets her limp going, I leave it alone until becomes really pronounced and obviously really painful. If she feels too good, she won't rest it and will instead run around and hurt it more.

Hey Deb did you survive the post retirement weekend celebration??

Yes, we had a blast - go look at my pictures in the Photo thread.

Happy Belated Gotcha Day, Shane - tell Mom to give you a big kiss from Auntie Deb.

I wish I were still in Maine lol.

I've been offered the office management position at my CURRENT job, because my coworker is leaving. I'm still waiting to hear from the university about that job though.  So for now, taking the advancement at work....

No roller coaster ride with your job, Sharon. Sheesh!

I had a very nice day off yesterday and then the buzz was killed this morning by my stupid DS. I may need bail money...for me.

If I get offered the University job, I will be taking it - but for now it is a bit of a roller coaster.  Least I'm back up to full time hours for now.  I just emailed my contact at the university trying to find out if any decision had been made yet - letting them know I was offered a position and all, but my preference is to work for them.

    • Gold Top Dog

good luck with the university job! if that doesn't go through then at least your situation at the current place has improved!

tell me about it! It was a bit more than I felt up to

Lisa I agree with Julie - you could use traumeel (whole foods carries it - I get it from amazon) but if he's eating, drinking, pooping and peeing fine the pain isn't too bad and may just keep him settled enough for it to heal.

    Loved the photos Deb!

    Good luck Sharon!

Good luck with the new job prospect Sharon!

Julie, that just sucks that the family is giving her a hard time about the kid. Unfortunately, I see that happening all too much. Honestly, nobody wants their kids to have a hard time. Yes, some parents do things that make their kids act like brats. But, for some kids, there is something different about that kid, and you need help in how to handle it. I don't know if it's helpful, but sometimes the kids have siblings who are great kids, and I point that out. They didn't do anything wrong with that one. They did everything just as how they did it for the other kids, and those kids turned out great. It's just that this particular kid is different, and needs things done differently. They did a great job with the other kids, and if this were a normal kid, that would have worked. Since they did a great job in the past, once they know what to do, they will  do a great job with this one.

My neighbors got a new dog. They already have one, which they are barely home with.  They both work full time, which is fine, but then they have two young kids, so they get home and they're back out the door most nights for the kids activities. The dogs they have now are two pit mixes. They never trained the first one, and they are very lucky that she is good. The new one has been whining since the neighbor left. I think she must have come home on her lunch to take the dog out, or she went to work late. I'm not sure because I got up ridiculously late due to feeling like crap. The first dog is the only dog in the world I am terrified of. I went in once to take her out, and the dog had some serious territorial guarding issues. She goes crazy any time someone gets out of a car or walks by the house. Yeah, two loose dogs in the house alone, one with territorial aggression... I don't see any potential for redirection there. Now they're barking like crazy about something.

Editing- the new one is in a crate. The neighbor just responded to me on facebook. I wrote and asked it that crybaby was her new dog.

exactly Jen. My sister has a daughter too. She is younger by a couple of years but she is an angel in comparison to my nephew. We talked about that too last night. How my niece is soooo very different and it goes way beyond the boy vs girl thing.

I'm trying to get some reports written today. On one side of my house, I have the dogs barking. In the house on one side, there are dogs going insane. In the house on the other side, we've got loud music. I think once I meet the new dog, the neighbor said she'd bring her over around 1, I might go out to the library or somewhere else to get my work done. I could maybe go sit back in my room in the basement, but I don't think I'll really do it there. I hope the Wi-Fi is working in the library though, because I may need it. Last time I was there picking up stuff, it was out.
