Mindless Thursday

    Mindless Thursday

Holy allergies! I feel like my face is all puffy. I'm thinking a vacation day is in order for tomorrow. Abbie has some stomach gurgling going on this morning which is always a bad omen. I hope I don't come home to diarrhea in the house.

I hope I don't come home to diarrhea in the house.

That could win the understatement of the year award.

It's cold but the sun is shining this morning.  We have a boat load of people coming over tonight for the NFL draft.  As a Lion's fan, the draft is sort of like the superbowl since we will never get to the superbowl anyway.

I am dreading this weekend as we are planning on cleaning out the basement.  I seriously want to rent one of those dumpster things and just throw it all out.  DH is such a pack rat it drives me crazy.  We must have at least 4 old VCR's, a couple of DVD players, etc.  I feel like I should warn our local Salvation Army store that they are about to get a huge influx.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Has anyone heard from Glenda this week?

I think men are far worse pack rats than women. They love to save stuff just in case they might need one tiny part. When I was married, I used to wait until he went overseas and then things would disappear. He seldom noticed.

Someone please stop me from killing one of my co-workers. He is on a rant about something and it's suddenly my problem to solve. Not my call, dude. I'm just a little person here. Confused

Julie, that is truly the understatement of the year.  Hope you take a day off tomorrow and that you don't come home to any nasty surprises.

Cleaning out a basement sounds like as much fun as cleaning out a garage.  :(  I don't know if there's proof of this but things you put away and don't see do reproduce somehow.  I don't know why this phenomenom hasn't been thoroughly studied by scientists.

Another busy, busy day here at work.  I'm waiting on a call from an insurance underwriter for help with a form they want filled out.  The form must be filled out but 90% of what they are asking doesn't apply to our company.

Tomorrow is an official city holiday.  Today is the Battle of Flowers parade.  Huge crowds line the parade route and downtown is a nightmare.  Naturally, we have five different downtown locations to get to today and these jobs have to be done today.  The weather will be good for the parade watchers and those in the parade.  Last year it was 95 which isn't unusual for this time of year.  Today is supposed to be in the low 70's so they caught a lucky break.

I need to pack Luke's bag sometime today. He's going away for the weekend to a flyball tournament. This is the first time I'm not taking him, but he's going with one of my best friends. Still though, I'm going to be worried about him.

I want to let you all know that everyone can breathe easier today. I found the correct color of sprinkles for Riley's birthday cake. DH is so relieved.

Sun is shining. Snow is melting. Rivers are rising. Being a good Minnesotan, I know that, as fate averages out, now is the time to start crying. It's just too nice out.

Wife is taking her car in, probably getting new tires. Tires are made from gold, apparently. This could hurt, but there is no point in getting cheap tires. We intend to drive this Taurus for probably 10 more years, or until it backtalks me when I am in a bad mood. I am not really comfortable with a car that can talk. I like dials, switches, knobs. This car has more computing power than the first space shuttles.

I was looking at a few woodworking sites yesterday. I thought making wood boxes (jewelry, display) would be fun, not to expensive, maybe make nice gifts. I have a couple first attempts that turned out well and a display box that is almost done and looking really good. I found a site where the guy has a 20 by 20 workshop with more power equipment than I thought possible. He makes some really nice boxes out of exotic woods. Some of the woods come with a $100/ square ft upcharge. Nice boxes. The thought of a miscut, at those prices. I'll stick with Oak, mahogany, pine for a while. Maybe try some of my birch and locust. Hickory proved to be no fun.

    OMG so am I!! Wink

Jackie I can't understand why that phenomenon hasn't been studied either

Darn Lisa I have plans already or I would come to the NFL draft party - I did get a chuckle out of your its a Lions fan's Superbowl

Boy the news of late is filled with terrible stuff - local, national and worldwide

Chilly currently but I think its supposed to become sunny

DH & I are playing in a golf tournament today for the club we belong to - this will sound terrible but we are like the youngsters (and we ain't young) so with the chilly weather it will be a nightmare.  We've had chilly conditions in the past and lots of the members (primarily pushing 80 and up) don't play or they start to play but then don't actually play any shots. Its a scramble so it doesn't really matter unless your team has 3 of these plus you as I did a few years back. Oh and its the annual get up to date with the members that have passed Sad At least at the end there's BBQ, popcorn shrimp, and banana pudding LOL

I have been in a fast-paced world of my own and have missed some stuff.  I hope everyone is safe and ok.  Not much to report here, but wanted to wave hello!  (Oh, and PTL, of course!)

I deleted CNN from my channel menu. No facebook, and I don't text. I usually ignore email, and use my phone only to speak to people. I am eliminating a couple of forums that are hostile and confrontational (that means they disagree with me). More time is being spent in the shop and running Piper. Life is much better. I don't need constant reviews and reruns of events for hours every day for multiple days. I need some time to digest and think about events, and I need some to to not think about tragedies. Too much input, and you can not function, especially when the input hurts. There is always some tragic event occurring somewhere in the world. Thanks to modern technology, now it all happens in real time in our living rooms. You can not effect most of the problems. All you can do is feel bad. Why deliberately subject yourself to it?

    YEA for perfect color sprinkles!!

I have been hit and miss lately, I hope all is well ( I was checking yesterday's posts and am happy to see successful pooper stories) I will have my first Colonoscopy tomorrow so it is an appropriate subject. LOL!

Bugsy...you must take the stairs slowly and one step at a time or we will have to go see your human mom in the luney bin Wink

It was 27 and frosty here this morning.  Of course I have been waiting almost 8 years for my Chinese Wisteria to bloom and this spring there is tons of them ready to open and they are longer than a foot each and we went below freezing....:(  I hope they survive)  My Japanese Wisteria and my Lilacs have been in full bloom for a week now.  My sweet hubby went out and clipped several lilacs for me to bring in to enjoy.  I had a crazy bad first few days this week with my Fibro,  not that I would want to fake that but it is amazing the things he can do when I cant Stick out tongue

Callie I am happy to hear that your mom was able to go home.

Karen, do something special for yourself with that big raise Wink

Hope everyone has a good day and a better weekend.

    Yay for the right sprinkles!!

I don't have a basement but I'd love to clean out the garage. My DH is also one to hold on to everything and I'm the queen of tossing or donating.

Speaking of DH - he went back to work today after a 3 week break. Hallelujah!!

Another windy day but at least it's sunny and will be warm. Since I came in for a mtg on Monday, my day off, I'm going to work a short day.

I started my day with trying to log on to my credit union acct and couldn't remember my user name. They'd enhanced the security recently and I after a few failed attempts to log on, I used the chat feature. The person helping me asked a bunch of questions like "what was the amount of your most recent deposit?" and "what is your checking account balance?" I know she must've thought I was a ditz when I kept answering with "ish" attached to all my answers. She was kind and patient though, so it wasn't too painful.

She wants a Lalaloopsy cake (for those unaware of what the heck a lalaloopsy is: http://www.lalaloopsy.com). But it needed to be ice cream themed. Oy! I came up with a plan using some of the dolls she already has but couldn't find the sprinkles to match their outfits. I have been driving DH up a wall over it. I am not a good cake baker/decorator so this will be my first attempt at a themed cake. Should be interesting to say the least.
