Karen, I got an email from the volunteer coordinator at our local shelter last night asking for help with a "gopher problem" in one of the dog walking/exercise areas.  They were looking for donated or low-cost pest control services.  Maybe Bugsy would like to come out and take care of it?  It sounds like he could have quite a project on his hands (it's a big area).  We're happy to host him -- Ruby would love it.  And we'd love to meet you!

Tell you what, he could come out there mid-June or so and probably stay though mid-late August. Our summers are too hot and hopefully he'll be fully healed up and ready to zoom with Ruby!! He caught another mole when he was out this afternoon.

Well its another day mostly gone that was FILLED with distractions. I have a couple of clients from 5-7 so after I eat I should try and get some more done. Tongue Tied

Tonight on Animal planet is a program called Glory Hounds - it follows some military dogs/handlers for 6 months. I am looking forward to it. The guys were from Camp Lejeune so they are billing it as a show with local interest. Here's the link from our paper

And, I actually LIKE cold calls.....I see them as a chance to meet new people and make new friends.

In all honesty, being in a workplace where we get tons of cold calls, it's annoying. I sit near the front door, but I am not a receptionist. Salespeople come in pitching their wares and not only do they waste their breath on the wrong person (me, who does not make the decisions), but I then have to find the person to talk to the salesman and often end up lying for that right person because we are all up to our eyeballs in work and don't have time. We get everyone from radio & TV sales, people who want to save us money on phone and internet or office supplies, people who want us to sponsor their teams, not to mention the local university's sales and marketing students who are in training. We even get people coming in trying to sell us "fresh" fruit right off their trucks and college students hawking perfume or other crap. Many repeat offenders don't seem to get the hint when I hand them the boss's card and say "please schedule an appointment." It's a rude interruption and although I am never rude to the people who come in, I can't say I don't have thoughts of misbehaving. Would that I could do as I do at home - leave the door locked and for doG's sake, don't answer it.

Yep, you hit most of the ones we get too and they do get annoying and waste a lot of my time.  You forgot the insurance salesmen and when they travel in pairs, they're really annoying. And don't forget the ones who sell cleaning products and come in and start cleaning the floor before you can say a word. lol  I know it's a tough job and I do sympathize with anyone doing cold calls whether in person or on the phone but I can't remember the last time I bought or signed up for anything that was presented to me as a cold call.  I will say I've met a few neat people over the years who came in to sell us something but I would rather have people make an appointment rather than drop in any old time.  I'm quite gripey to them if I'm busy and they don't leave when I tell them I'm not interested.

I can't wait to watch that show Karen though I might watch it this weekend.   I want to watch Argos too this weekend now that it's available.

Deal!  The weather is ideal during the summer -- no humidity, rarely above 85 or so, no bugs/mosquitoes --- perfect for dogs and humans alike.  It's the only time I like the climate here.  Our yard is quite small, but it's fenced and they'd have a ball together (and we could enjoy some "refreshments" while watching them from the patio.

We get sales folks in our office occasionally (we're in a building with other tenants, so they make the rounds).  We've got a No Soliciting sign on our door, but it's not always effective.  The funniest one was a woman offering a mini-facial (she sold Mary Kay or something like that).  Not exactly something I'd think to have done at my desk in the middle of the day, but it sure would beat the usual coffee break!  Smile

I think both of you are in office environments though.  I do think it's a bit different in a retail situation.  It is extremely rare for me to walk into an office, but retail I will.  However, I'm not there to sell anything, but to introduce myself and my paper and I always ask if it's ok for me to stop back and find out when might be convenient.
