Mindless Thursday

    Mindless Thursday

I slept like a rock last night. I could have slept another couple of hours this morning too. I can't wait for the weekend. I am sincerely over winter.

Whoa!  It's hold on to your hats here!  Gale force winds and of course nothing but ice where there was snow, so yippee!  Poor Theo looked like he was on ice skates and he got blown a good 5 feet.  While he was trying to pee.

Day two of hubby working mornings.  Unfortunately the alarm went off at the station around 10:30 last night so he had to go in then.  The GM lives within walking distance, but couldn't be reached, so the alarm company called here.  All of which means, Todd didn't geet the rest he needs so he'll probably be cranky again tonite.

Much to do today, so best get started.

    Have a great day everyone.

same here - I know ours is nothing compared to yours but it seems to be a very long one here. IIRC November was miserable and usually by now we are firmly in early Spring. Instead we are looking at another freezing rain 'event' tonight. Followed by rainy day after rainy day. I took a quick trip to the lake last evening and it is more full than I can ever recall. This after being drained to a puddle in November-December. I think I heard we are expecting another 3 inches of precip in the next 3-4 days so pretty soon I should be able to carry my kayak from home and drop it in LOL

Bugsy is getting cabin fever and taking it out by hunting and killing. He's destroyed any and all toys in his wake. Last night was pawing at my laundry room door (a first) I opened the door and he launched himself in, grabbed my jeans and 'killed' them (thankfully via death shake not ripping them) Earlier I had stopped at a friends and their cat was rubbing on me. This morning he caught two moles. He's plum loco.

I am severely unmotivated to do anything. I need to at some point go out and do some exercise since its the last sunny day in the forecast for over a week Sad

Just another fine day here in nature's refrigerator...

I wish we had some of the rain and that I could share some of our warm weather and sunshine.  We had a few little showers yesterday but not even to settle the dust.

The Army Corps of Engineers is starting a flood control project that includes the area behind our building at work.  I'm sort of bummed about it because the creek that runs back there is home to lots of wildlife and birds.  I regularly see hawks, ducks and all sorts of other birds.  We've been in this building the mid 80's and I've never heard of any flooding anywhere along this creek but there must be a reason all this money is going to be spent and all the wildlife displaced. Sad

They supposedly got started yesterday on the project.  All I saw was a bunch of guys walking around looking at the creekbed (it's dry right now).  I pictured them with thought bubbles that said "yep, this must be the creekbed". lol The project will involve road work too and that's going to make getting to work a little tricky.

Good job, Bugsy, killing those cat jeans. Surprise  I'm glad he's feeling well enough to go hunting and killing as odd as that sounds when you type it out. lol

     OMG what a morning.

I am buried in paperwork and my phone rings - its mom "blah, blah, blah"

still on with her and DH is contacting me on my cell with mindless info as he waits to go with his daughter to pickup the little guy from school.

While still listening to mom and responding to DH a friend starts texting me

Then the UPS guy needs a signature - at least that precipitated hanging up with mom LOL

sigh, the paperwork hasn't actually sorted itself out

Jackie I hate projects like that - around here they rarely do any good and clearly have some political motivation

Well, that was fun.  I'm gonna have one heck of a bruise from being blown into a car in a parking lot.  Holy Hannah, the wind is BAD.  I had two appointments this morning and after those, rather than cold calling or stopping by to see any of my peeps, I decided I would come home and reach out and touch someone via phone or computer.  It is seriously dangerous with the high winds.

And, Deb?  Those drinks look divine.  How 'bout you just line them up for me?

B....way to go killing those jeans!

It seems like all of my coworkers are sick and some have had this nasty cold for what seems like months. I'm feeling very grateful that I haven't caught anything.

Jackie - that's sad about the development and how it'll affect the critters. There's a farmer nearby who is suing to block the development of a plant on the hills behind his home. It's gorgeous property and home to just about every bird or animal indigenous to this area. I really hope he wins the suit.

Super chilly here this morning but at least the sun is out. I hope it's warmer down south where Lisa is.

You've probably never heard of Minnehaha Creek and Falls. It's a beautiful creek runs from Lake Minnetonka to the Mississippi river, right through Minneapolis. It has of course been tamed for urban living, but is usually surrounded by parkland as it winds through the city. Recently, a couple of cities decided to put the bends back in it in a few places. Makes it seem wild. Swamp grasses and willows planted. The cities can actually pump water in to the creek to make the Falls pretty when visiting dignitaries want to see them.

Snow coming next few days, so I am getting out with the hound for a long walk. Got a nice place down by the river. If the sun shines, I'll take some pictures. Otherwise, it looks like scenes from an old black and white Swedish film festival.

Arrg.  My company is really struggling financially.  It's come down to the fact that if I want to keep my job, I have to start cold selling.  I hate sales.  There's a reason I've never applied for any sales job.  Ever.  But, I like being employed.

I'm bummed, I had a game night plan with my gal pals at my house tomorrow, but many of them have families and things came up and another has no car at the moment (they all live about 45-60 minute drive south of me).  So, we're rescheduling.

In exciting news, my significant other asked if I'd like to go on a cruise to Bermuda.  It took less than a nanosecond for me to say yes lol.  I'm very surprised he asked.  He's not a beach type of guy, but he said it sounded appealing and there's some good prices with Norwegian cruise line out of Boston.  He just really needs to get away from work and what's further away than on the ocean lol.  We're tentatively thinking of going in May since the prices are lower than say July.  I'm really really excited.  I love boats, the ocean and anything involving the beach lol.  It'll be nice to get away.

Doug, those falls are incredible all frozen and I would imagine it's a lovely area year round.  The creek here will be deepened and cement lined when all is said and done and they are supposed to plant some native trees and grasses on the edges. Tongue Tied I dread the many nests that will be disturbed and destroyed but maybe it will be like many government projects and nesting season will be over before they get started on demolition.  They sent us an outline of the plan last year since our property is right on the edge of the creek.

I'm taking Gabby to the park at lunch.  I hope I can keep her out of the creek which is the same creek as above, after it crosses under a few roads, and gets to the park. The section of creek in the park usually has water in it even when we're dry but it's pretty swampy right now.  She doesn't mind a bit.

ETA:  Tina and Deb: get a room. Big Smile
