a hawk flew over the hood of my car and caught a rodent of some sort on the highway median.  Pretty cool.

THAT is impressive - I find hawks amazing.  One was perched in a tree overlooking the on ramp as we made our way to the Obedience show venue this morning.  I took it as a good sign, my friend said "ooh, kind of threatening."

Gracie competed this weekend and we had a good bunch of shows, all things considered.  Got beaten by a mini schnauzer yesterday, then a pug today.  The pug was on fire, with perfect 100s in both classes for High Combined Rally- so I gotta give them loads of credit!  Maybe the cutest back-up I have seen in a long time!  Gracie placed each class, but a few things went off wrong.  When she zones out, her call fronts from a stationary position are her fail point. Yest afternoon the judge took 10pts off for it, so when it happened again today, I opted to re-do (automatic 3-pt deduction.)  I should have left it alone - this judge only took 2pts off, but had to tack the 3 for the retry.  So a 98 went to 95, whereas the day before a 99 went to an 89.  Oh well, she's 9 and a 1/2 yrs old, so the fact that she's still working in the high 90s (usually) is something to be proud of.

(I would have really liked that High Combined Rally rosette, though. lol)

Totally exhausted and going to bed now.  Hope everyone is well as can be.  Thinking a lot abt Deb!

I know it's late back east and you're not likely to see this, Karen, but I'm so glad to hear that your Mom's power had been restored.  I hope it's on for good.

Her comment about "the elderly" is exactly the kind of thing my Mom says.  She often refers to "old people" when she's talking about something, and I'll think to myself, "Mom, you're 75 . . . . I think you're in that demographic."  But I know she doesn't consider herself like "other" old people, that is, those who don't work or don't drive or aren't very mobile or social like she is.  I'm glad she's that way --- much better than acting like some 50-60 year old people I know who seem far older than that.

I'm also glad to hear that the immediate dangers of fire/explosion seem to have passed for Deb.  I hope this week brings much more comforts and improvements for everyone in the affected areas.
