    How was your dog's halloween?

Bugsy was ready to go well before any trick or treaters arrived - I set up the baby gate and some chairs to prevent him from getting to the front door

I was very impressed with his night vision - it got pitch black in the cul de sac and I couldn't see anyone but he could

As the night wore on he got into this pose between visits - his nose was on the gate - which is huge, the gate is SCARY!

Then when the kids arrived he did really well - he did his high pitched yip a few times and whined and wiggled a couple of times but overall he was great for him.

A few of the kids came in to pet him which he was REALLY happy about LOL

He also got to see two of his favorite people which caused much silliness.

What amazes me is that no costume freaked him out in the least. One kid was dressed as a wolf for the NCSU Wolfpack with this insane wolfman jack type mask on and the kid was 6' or so. no problem

Then one of the above favorite peeps - who is 6'4" and dressed as a Pittsburgh Steeler (he lost the best) plus wearing some crazy curly black wig came in and it totally doesn't phase him.

Anyway he is the same each year with the costumes but he was much calmer this year - each time we had a visitor and he behaved I gave him some kibble - he started to look for it after I did it twice - candy for the kids, kibble for the Bugs!

I hope your dogs did well too! I wish I could sit outside with him but he is too psycho for that still

    Good job Bugsy!

Too cold to sit outside here.

I also set up a baby gate to keep the fluffs INSIDE.  They bark like crazy every time the doorbell rings, quickly quiet down.  Tasha does not like anyone under 3.5 foot tall, so if she caught a glimpse of a child she started up again.  In between visitors, they were all whining because they couldn't get to me.

Rupert had a wonderful Halloween. He got to stay home and nap peacefully with DH while I took the kids out. lol  We don't get trick-or-treaters out at our house.

We're just getting started here.  Only 2 kids so far.  It was pouring all day, but it's dry now, so more kids will come than we were expecting to see earlier.

Ruby is in costume and on a leash.  DH handles her and I have the candy bowl.  I wish we could do a baby gate on the room right by our front door, but Ruby would leap over it or crash through it!

     I think B would prefer Rupert's or Ruby's Halloween!

Two and half hours of staring at the front door in anticipation has him konked out now LOL

Ours is rescheduled to next week. No trick or treaters for the dogs tonight. Usually Like sits out for a bit with us, then we'll put him in and give out the rest.

We don't get kids at our place (we don't hand out candy) but usually we dress up and get the dogs in costume and go down town. Maze loves it, Sandy enjoys the attention. But this year was too wet and it was Dodger's first halloween.  He did very well! I leashed him up and we went down town (the stores hand out candy every year). He decided that people in costumes are no big deal but roving bands of regular dressed teenagers are to be barked at. LOL.

I was worried about the fireworks since he has shown some fear of thunder. We had one loud boomer that made him start but otherwise he just played with his tug a jug.  Sandy hid under blanket and Maze wanted to go see the fireworks. LOL

We turned out our lights at 8pm.  We had about 40-50 kids, and 99% of them were very polite and friendly, and only one who looked a bit too old to be trick-or-treating.

Ruby did much better than I thought she would.  I think it helped that she had her costume on -- it makes her mopey, so she wasn't as amped up.  She figured out that when the doorbell rang, she'd go to the door with DH holding her leash, she'd see all the kids (she was nice and quiet), then when the door closed, she got a treat.  Only two kids asked to pet her, and she kept all paws on the ground, so that was good (one little girl is someone she sees often).

I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't a stressful evening.  Yay!

:( no trick or treaters at our house.... I love seeing the kids but just a bunch of old people around here...including us. :)

Good job to all those good puppers!  LOL, Bugsy does look like he is really missing something fun.
