No worry about sharks there?
Well, it is the ocean, so yes, there are sharks. I do think about it when the dogs are in the water but the chances are so small that I'd hate to not enjoy the ocean for fear of sharks. Before I watched the movie Jaws, I'd be out in chest deep water but now I'm too chicken even though I know the odds are much higher that we'd get in a car accident than get bit by a shark. I usually don't go out any deeper than my knees. :) Just in case. lol The dogs don't go out very deep either, except Belle who has to be watched closely so she doesn't just start swimming out to sea.
You should have seen the huge alligator gar skeleton we found on the shore at the bay. The head was at least 15" long and the whole fish was about six feet long. Those are mean looking fish and they get huge and have wicked looking teeth.
There are very few shark bites reported along our coast. You see people catching them quite often and they mostly waste them which makes me furious. In some areas we also have alligators along the coast. We also have a lot of portugese man of war jellyfish and their venomous tentacles are agonizingly painful if they touch you. Luckily we didn't see any this trip.
