    Monday chatting

I crashed last night at 9 pm and it felt awesome. More rain in the forecast today. Blech Our search was a dud yesterday. This guy did a great job making sure nobody would find him. I feel bad for his 4 kids. You can't collect insurance with no body for 7 years. Would be tough to be a single mom with 4 kids We hit the underarmor outlet on the way back and I scored a sweet pair of snow pants. The ones I really wanted though were the wrong size. They were this awesome yellow orangish color and looked like cargo pants. Very funky. I have to drive around the state today with about 5 other people. Only one of them agrees with me about the safety issue I am going after so this should be an annoying day.

Yesterday was beautiful! I got my mower and yard winterized, cleaned the gutters, and blew the rest of the leaves to the curb for pickup. Saturday I put my hazmat suit on and cleaned DS's room. I'm positive he did not inherit many of my genes. I'm glad to say I survived the ordeal.

Julie, I heard on the radio this morning that the highway shooter has mysteriously stopped his spree. I hope he's OOC.

Sorry Julie its another stunning day here

Bugsy has a bit of a party hangover but is still hassling me for a run, um no!

I have wanted to upgrade my camera for ages and there is a sweet deal on for the one I want, must sell my old one first though, Anyone in the market for a Canon T1i DSLR body? Geeked

Lisa I am sure that Riley will miss her riding after two weeks off, I sure hope so anyway!

    Not much else

Tina your hazmat suit comment made me chuckle

It's warm and muggy this morning.

Gabby has cold tail.  I noticed it yesterday.  She looks pitiful with her tail hanging down.  She spent a lot of time in the water Saturday and though it wasn't cold water, I'm sure that's the cause.  Funny that all the years I owned and trained Labs I never had one dog get cold tail.

I was so tired yesterday but never got a chance to take it easy.  By 8:00 pm I was ready for bed but I managed to stay up until 9:30.

Lisa, I'm sorry that Riley got freaked about riding and I hope she gets over it and can continue the lessons.

Luke was ready to go at 5:30 this morning. I made him come back to bed after I took him and Callie out and he got his breakfast. I thought he'd sleep later, considering that was probably the most running he'd ever done in a day. He ran 20 heats in a little less than 3 hours. He actually ran 21 times, because I resend him one time after it was explained to me when I should and shouldn't resend. I thought he'd be tired. I was tired after he got us up at 5:00 AM to get ready to go.

I need to call my dentist today. I really, really need to call her. I really, really do not want to call. My stomach still feels off since Friday, and worrying about this is not helping.

    Edited to add:

So I ran Luke yesterday with an open team.  They sometimes practice with us. Actually,  they usually practice with us right now because they don't have many dog/members right now. I didn't join that team when I started with a team because they used to practice after us, and I couldn't do afternoon practices. Yes, as a team, we sucked, and it was not all because it was Luke's first time out. One of the other dogs on the team has also just started running. From what I can tell, that dog only has the same titles Luke has, so he definitely hasn't had much experience either. Anyway,I had such a good time with them. I've gone in with my team before, and nobody was having as much fun as we were having yesterday. I've been in with my team when a new dog is starting out, and last time I went out, one of our team dogs got a pretty big title during that tournament. On some teams, they're cheering in the ring as soon as they realize a dog has earned a title. That's how the team I was with yesterday was. As soon as we knew Luke was going to complete he first good run, there was a bit of partying going on in our lane. Someone from the team we ran with yesterday went over and signed Luke up for his second ribbon. I've known since pretty early on that the team I am actually with, and Luke is actually registered to (I have not yet registered Callie) would probably not be where I was going to stay forever. Being that Luke is a height dog, and he jumps the lowest height, I can pretty much just offer him out to open teams forever if I wanted to do that. The team we were with yesterday would keep him and use them on their team too probably,  and I don't  think I'd mind too much. Yeah, it'll take longer to get titles, but I think I'd have a lot more fun doing it. But, I sort of think switching to the other team that practices with us maybe wouldn't go over too well. Going to any other team, that would probably be okay. If I had a big dog, no one would care much about that. But I think taking a height dog to the other team we practice with, maybe I shouldn't, at least not yet.  At least not unless my actual team doesn't start to use him. I'm waiting to hear if my team will actually use him for a tournament in December. I'd like to go, it's a nice place, and near Hershey, so that's good for me. I thought after they saw him yesterday, I might hear back about him being used. Nothing yet. It was also interesting who from my team came by and offered congratulations on Luke's titles. Not shocked by the one person I didn't talk to.

    Gabby has cold tail.

I have since learned that it is from the muscles getting overworked and in some cases causing inflammation that puts pressure on the nerve. Nothing really to do with the cold. I sure hope she's back wagging soon, the last time B had it he was in a ton of pain :(

That explains it then and yes, it seems very painful and she continues to try and wag despite the pain.  She keeps looking at her tail like what's wrong with you.  I still find it odd that I've never had a dog with this and all my Labs spent tons of time swimming.  Guess that's why I never explored the reasons for cold tail.  They should call it tired tail. But as I tell others, just because something never happens doesn't mean it's not common and just because it does happen doesn't make something common.

     Poor Gabby Sad

I hope Gabby feels better soon.  I've never had a dog experience cold tail before.

Hope Riley will be back up on a horse soon!  A trot can be quite scary if they're not ready yet.

I want more sleep.  Why is it when you finally feel all cozy and comfortable, maybe having a pleasant dream, the blasted alarm goes off?  Even Ari seemed perturbed by it this morning.

    Feel better, Gabby.

I just realized, I need to re-do my sig. I have to add Luke's FDX (flyball dog excellent) title to it.

Awww, poor Gabby. I hope her tail feels better soon.

It started raining in the middle of the night and I slept fitfully from about 3 AM on. I really love the sound of rain but for some reason, it keeps me awake listening to it. On top of being cold and rainy, it's super windy. This is the 1st storm or even measurable rain that we've had since we adopted Shane. I'm not sure how I'm going to keep him occupied indoors all day. I'm hoping there's enough of a break in the rain that I can get him out for a walk.

    Go Giants!! Party!!!

    Morning all,

NWA had a great fall day for all the crafters.  I stayed at home and tried to get some things accomplished.  Lots of wind over the weekend but the tems were warm and the sun was shining.  Today we will have more wind and some rain.

Hope everyone has a great day.  Got lots of work to do today.

Hugs for Riley (special dont be afraid hugs)  Good vibes for Gabby's tail,  Yea for team Luke.  That's all I can remember

    Big Smile

I had to catch up on the weekend's chat . . . I'm sorry to hear about Riley and her change of heart about riding.  Like others said, hopefully a couple weeks off will help her forget her fear, and she'll be back in the saddle ASAP!

Karen, that downtown event you described sounded like a lot of fun.  We used to enjoy bringing Tonka to things like that, because he was so calm and loved everyone (and he was unusual enough in breed and size, that he got a lot of attention, which he really liked).  I don't know if we'll ever be able to bring Ruby to such things.  DH tried to stand in line with her a couple weeks ago at an annivesary promotion at our favorite pet supply shop - a photographer was there taking photos of pets - but he had to leave because she was getting too vocal and wired up with all the other dogs in her sight.  He felt like people were staring.

Tina, I had to laugh at the hazmat suit image, too!  I hope you enjoy the added space you'll now have in your house, especially since it'll stay clean and tidy!  :-)

I did too much consuming of media this weekend.  Watched "The Trip" on Netflix Friday night (very funny), went to see "Looper" on Saturday (crazy violent, but quite good in retrospect), and watched the Patriots game yesterday (stressful!).  Not very productive, but I did do a few loads of laundry and ran the vacuum!

It's pouring now.  Blech.  Makes Monday feel even worse than it would anyway!

Busy day for a rainy day off. I got split pea soup going in the crockpot, made 2 batches of cornbread muffins and then made some chocolate chip cookies. It was nice to have the oven on and be busy and Shane doesn't bug me when I'm cooking. He does like to curl up right by my feet though and that can make things dangerous for someone like me.Embarrassed

There's only been a few minutes when the rain let up, so I haven't gotten him out for a walk. He wouldn't even go out to potty unless I walked all the way out with him. Made me realize that showering and blow drying my hair was a total waste. I can see now that it's going to be a challenge keeping my carpets clean this winter. Shane has very furry footpads and we'll need to wipe those off whenever he comes in. Fortunately, if you put a towel out, he'll lift his paw for you. Big Smile
