    Saturday Chat

Cause I'm creative like that! No catchily named chat today.

I'm headed out in a bit to take Luke and Callie to a demo. She'll definitely do weight pulling,  and he will definitely do flyball. Whether each does both, we'll have to see. Callie can't do flyball if there would be a risk of her running into the road, and Luke for weight pull is questionable. I was going to have a friend work him, and he would have done fine with her. My friend is sick, and can't come, so now  I'm dragging my mom along. Callie is known to act like a fool for my mom. Luke might work for her, but right now I'm taking a step back and clicker training him to do it. I had practiced with my friend what to do with him. He could also easily be handed off to someone else to handle him. He would work for a stranger for a bit. Callie is too crazy to hand off. I think I'll let her try Callie, and I'll work Luke. They wouldn't come out together for flyball. Luke runs in a team if it can be done, and Callie just does some basics.

Good luck to Luke and Callie!! Sounds like a fun way to spend the day.

DH was up super early and took Shane for a walk, came home and then left for the gym. Shane always comes back to bed with me and I wanted so badly to sleep in but couldn't. I had trouble falling asleep last night too, so it's definitely going to be a day for napping.

I have a dog walkers mtg at HB tomorrow and the reactive dog class is held before that but I'm going to skip it for awhile. I was going to talk to the trainer about pairing me with dogs that are more aligned to my size and strength but decided I might come off sounding whiney, so I'll just take a break for a bit.

It's supposed to be a little warmer and it's sunny - Yay!!

We have SUNSHINE!!!  Glorious, beautiful sunshine!!  Of course it's only 42, but that IS up from the overnight mid-20's!  We've got the woodstove going, but drying clothes outside on the line!  Shoot, they won't freeze, there is sunshine and a good stiff breeze, so why the heck not?  Laundry smells so very fresh and clean after drying outside.

Have a few errands to run, then I'll get some chores out of the way and try VERY hard to do some yard work.  The wind has stripped our trees and I'm sure the neighbor isn't thrilled that they are blowing in his yard.  I respect his desire for a meticulous yard, however, I have trouble understanding it.  A few weeds, some leaves, none of that really hurts anything, but, that's me, and he has a right to have a pristine yard if he desires one.......I just can't always get the leaves up as soon as he'd like.  With two weeks of rain though, he can't complain much.

Off to start the errands....yipee.  Not.

Apparently, herding dogs are becoming obsolete:

It's 40 degrees and downpouring. Makes for a cold miserable day. But I hit the cider mill to restock on fresh apples :)

I contacted the bank to refinance yesterday. Just the thought of going through the process stresses me out but if it works out I can save nearly 3% on my loan. They say they don't need an appraisal either which is what had me the most stressed. I hope it works out.

I need to rearrange my bdrm to get my bed away from the drafty windows.

The cold weather has my ears hurting.

Julie, refinancing is a huge pita, but it is sooo worth it. Especially if you're saving 3%. And/or shortening the length of the loan.

Nothing too exciting going on here today. It's good to have a day with no plans!

Julie - I don't remember reading what happened with your fridge. Is it fixed now?

Our refi was relatively painless but we refinanced with the same bank, so they had most information. We also didn't need an appraisal, so that was great. I hope your's goes as smoothly.

They did great. Well, Callie did not work in the flyball demo- too close to the road for her. She was nuts the first timeout for weight pull. I ended up sending her back to her crate pretty quickly that time. I can't bring my mom with. She just gets her too crazy. I did get her out later and work her a bit, and she did much better since my mom had gone off somewhere else. Luke did great. He worked in flyball and weight pulling. We had to have a short course for flyball, only two jumps. He caught his ball both times, he didn't run out of the course. If he catches like that tomorrow at practice, we'll be competing very soon.  He actually did a nice job pulling too. I had to give him a little higher weight then he usually has. His weight, a laundry detergent bottle with 1-2lbs of pebbles, has holes it, so I had to give him the 2-3lbs. I'm glad I talked to someone who clicker trained her dog to pull, because otherwise, I'd have to keep finding different people to get him to work. He happily works for other people, because he's more concerned in socialization than actually working. So, he will pull so he can get to the person and say hi to them. Once he's gotten to know someone, he was quitting on them too.

I was just trying to add a location to some of my pictures from today. I got pretty excited when I saw something that is near where I was. There is a TKD school near there, and it's the style that I used to do, and have a 2nd degree black belt in. It looks like they might even have some classes for my level at times I could actually make it to. I think I'll have to contact them and see if it would be possible for me to stop by and check it out.

Glad to hear you, Callie & Luke enjoyed the day.  As for your 2nd degree black belt in TKD --- that's something many of us would like to take advantage of when we find ourselves needing the 2x4.  You might be an added "weapon" for some circumstances!  Hmmmm, a chef who makes homemade noodles and has a black belt?  You could have an interesting reality show of your own!  Stick out tongue

Doug, that video was too funny (and the song very catchy, too). How does that bunny not get stepped on?!

Wish we had your sun today, Glenda.  Oh well, we were lucky to have it well into October this year.

Wild Saturday night here --- off to put my clothes in the dryer!
