Sorry to hear about your uncle Julie.
So, my dad bought my niece a Furby. She is 21 months old, so entirely too young for one. I took it out of the box today and put batteries in it. Well, first I just got it out of the box. She wanted nothing to do with it, but I could not walk away with it. So, I brought back with batteries a few minutes later. I had it on the table for a bit, then I put it on the floor. She pulled her feet back away from it, and cried, "my shoes," like the Furby was going to get them. So, I pushed it back a bit. A little later she cried, "mommy, please," as in please make it stop (she calls everyone mommy, she was talking to me).
I vacuumed up the flea powder, but my room still stinks from it. Hopefully till tonight it's better, but I think I'll vacuum it again later.
I'm all disappointed. My niece was supposed to stay till tomorrow night. My brother in law decided he's getting her today and taking her to Maryland (where his family lives). We were going to go to the Chinese buffet for lunch. One of my mom's friends has never met her, and my mom needed to see her for something. Her friend is sick, and we may still go if he picks his kid up when he said he would. We were also going to bring her with us to a demo at a pet fair tomorrow. She would have liked that. I was going to probably have her work Luke in weight pulling (with the help of a friend of mine, but all she would really have to do is hold his leash and follow me and Callie, so she can do it). But, the bigger deal is, her father doesn't really take very good care of her in general. We've picked her up at 10 and she hasn't been out of bed and changed yet. The reason she is potty trained, and was at 18 months is because he didn't change her, let her sit wet, and she kept getting rashes. She'd spend a few days here, it'd be cleared up, then she'd go home. Oh, and the big kicker, his sister's boyfriend. His sister's boyfriend tried to touch one of his younger sisters. The family didn't tell him never to come around again. The only reason anything was done about it at all, is that my sister I believe called the cops down there about it. The kid has no history of lying about anything like that, and the family essentially took the guy's side. Hell, even if the kid is a liar, you still take them seriously, and you also take the precaution of never putting anyone who might be accused alone with them for even a second.
