Luke has fricken fleas. Stupid Certifect. I need to remember to tell the vet it failed

You might be able to get a refund if you contact Certifect.

I'll have to try it, though I wonder how I prove he got fleas.

Happy Anniversary, Jackie and Mr. Jackie!!

It's been winter here for like a month already. Sad Usually we get eased into winter but not this year. We seemed to have skipped fall weather altogether. We've already had snow a few times, and it's been freezing every night for a while.

I'm FINALLY starting to catch up with work. I've had a few big, long-term type projects that are finally near the end. I hope. lol. Plus I've had a ton of little projects that kept popping up and were keeping me from making steady progress on the big ones. Anyway, I'm starting to see the light! I've been really busy since before my vacation.

Yaaay Mr and Mrs Jackie!!!  37 years wow :)

Ugh on the fleas Jen.  I absolutely positively cannot tolerate fleas.

Busy day today, so back to the grind.  Least it's keeping my mind off stuff.

Oh and tonight, I need to attempt to shave Moki.  This will hopefully involve little bloodshed.  I've never attempted to shave a cat without a helper, but if Moki behaves like she usually does when attempting to do things she does not like I should be fine (she usually goes catatonic).  She's unfortunately badly matted in places not easy to brush, so its off with her fur!

Jen, this is from Merial's website about Certifect:

"Your peace of mind is our top priority. That’s why CERTIFECT comes with our
    SATISFACTION PLUS GUARANTEE.

If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied with CERTIFECT, we’ll offer to replace the product, refund your money, or send a pest-control specialist to inspect your home and treat it if necessary"

    I just realized it's 10-11-12.

    That is all.

I just spoke to Merial. They said this is not uncommon, because it's not a repellent. They also will not honor the guarantee because our cat is not treated and the other dogs are using Advantix. So, yeah, Merial sucks.

I would simply die Jan. Seriously!! I am home this afternoon because the guys are coming to replace our doorwall. Of course this is the only afternoon DH had plans so here I sitting waiting for this guys and dreading the whole deal with Charlie thing. Not to mention there is going to be a 8 ft. hole in the back of my house this afternoon. Talk about chilly. At least the sun is shining.

Happy anniversary Jackie and Mr. Jackie!! Party!!! Our anniversary is next week and I'm thinking a night out for Mexican food would be perfect too. I hope you have a great evening.

Karen - I completely relate to your comments about Bugsy but Shane also barks, so imagine how fun that is when he's bored. It was my friend who pointed out that it was after we adopted Shane that I mysteriously dropped 5 lbs. At first I thought that couldn't possibly be it. I don't walk him for miles each day or anything but recently I became aware that I rarely sit for very long when he's here at work or I'm home. He might nap for an hour but otherwise, he wants attention of some kind or he wants to go out and then come back in and then go back out.....Super Angry. I really do think I can attribute the weight loss to having the equivalent of a 2 y.o. child to care for.

Ruby is like a human toddler, too, Cathy, but I haven't noticed any weight loss (and 5 pounds would make several pairs of pants much more comfortable to wear!).  Like Shane, she barks when she's bored or wants attention.  It drives DH nuts when he sits down to enjoy his coffee after dinner, and she gets right in his face: "Walk me.  NOW."

Congratulations Jackie and Mr. G!  That card was hilarious (and so true).  Reminds me of another funny anniversary card I've seen.  A couple is sitting on the couch, watching TV, and it says, "For our anniversary, let's try a new position."  Inside it shows them still sitting there, but they've switched places on the couch.  Stick out tongue

Wow - Janice, you've seen snow, and a couple of you have mentioned fleece pj's and/or flannel sheets?  Today is our last day of sun, rain comes tomorrow.  Weatherman said we had NO rainfall for 82 of the last 83 days!  We'll get our due now.

Sharon, how sad about your classmate.  A few weeks ago, a classmate of mine died, and I later learned he took his own life.  We went to school together from grades K thru 12.  No one I knew heard he was struggling with anything recently, but obviously he was.  His parents still live in my hometown and are devastated.  He had 3 siblings and a young daughter, too.  I've lost a few other classmates at young ages - accidents, cancer, suicide.  So sad.

Jen, I hope the flea problem is short-lived.  What a nuisance!

Tracy  . . . . I totally forgot (since I was swamped after coming back from vacation) but Ruby is BEAUTIFUL !!!  I bet she and Jamison could do some serious napping together !!

On a positive note regarding Shane, I had a big smile moment last night. From the 1st time I let him out back, I worked with him on "come" and other things. One thing that was really important was to keep him from getting amped up when the 2 JRTs next door went off at the fence. Sassy used to go crazy. So, the 1st time I heard the dogs go off, I called Shane to me and then treated him. Last night we're sitting out back and I hear the little dogs starting to go off (they sound like crazed beasts) and Shane looked at the fence, looked and me and came bounding in my direction. It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. It was like the dogs going off was his sign he was gonna get a treat, and he surely did. Big Smile

Perfect example of classical conditioning.  Congrats on doing such a good job Ms. Pavlov. :)

My monitor at work started flickering yesterday.  Today I decided to swap monitors with absent coworker to see if it's the monitor or a video card problem.  I rarely see his monitor when it's not being used, and therefore lit up, and was so grossed out when I saw all the sneeze debris all over it.  Yuck! Ick! How can he not notice how gross it is and clean it.

Good boy Shane!! And gosh I wish Bugsy were so pliable LOL

I can't believe this............that freaking infection/cyst in my finger is really bothering me today - I thought it was long gone. I realize that cysts can come and go but since this was caused by something stuck in there and he cleaned it out I thought it was done. Hmm

I couldn't figure out why Bugsy was limping this morning, then I saw the yard and discovered he had been on a mole hunting rampage. Me thinks his pouncing into the ground and fervent digging did it. He did take care of two of them so hopefully that is that.

    It is soooooooooooo pretty today.

DH is home - he spent the morning fishing off of a pier. He seemed to enjoy it despite not catching anything

Thanks, Deb.  I bet they could, too.  She shares a couch with our friends' Lab mix when they're together, so she likes napping partners!

What a good boy Shane is to respond so well, despite yapping JRT neighbors!  We struggle with that issue when Ruby goes to the fence and barks either at a person going by or the neighbors' dog.  If she's just relaxing quietly outside and we call her, she'll come immediately in the backdoor and go into a solid sit, knowing a treat is coming.  But once she's in that arousal mode and focused on her barking activity, I can't get her to come to me.  DH has better luck because he uses a very firm, stern voice (plus, she minds him more).  I've tried to change my voice, but it only makes me sound ridiculous, and she ignores me anyway!

Gross about the sneeze debris, Jackie.  My coworker has a habit of putting her fingers right on my monitor when she wants to show me something at my desk, and her fingerprints drive me insane!  I'd feel a little OCD telling her to get her fingers off the screen, but one of these days  . . . . .
