I think bullying is more more intense and dangerous these days. The line will actually be different for each victim/target and they set the line. When I heard the tape of those kids bullying the school bus driver I immediately thought they were mimicking their parents. Nastiness is a learned behavior, disrespect is a learned behavior, violence is mostly a learned behavior (all my opinion). Where do they learn it? Parents, other adults (coaches, etc), tv, movies,... If you say you want to shoot someone, kids won't all understand you don't mean literally. When you comment on someone's appearance, your kid hears it, may be hears someone laugh at your comments and decide its a way to get liked and laughs. The level of the meanness is higher than it was, I used to teach and did counseling of troubled kids and as ugly as it got, it wasn't as bad as some of the high profile cases in the news. No where near it.
Add me to the 'target' group, I was and am a dork, nerd, brown-nose, geek, whatever term you use. I was also very tomboy and although I was amongst the tallest, it was more about being bigger and stronger. A friend says I was/ am like Amy Wambach of USA soccer, not delicate, lol. I was also very quiet and introverted, I wasn't too bothered about any of the crap,so I was lucky.
Doug I am envious of you experiencing Fall, looks like it will arrive here on Sunday
