It's Fall in Minnesota. I've had the privilege of living in Wisconsin and Michigan (UP). If you haven't experienced fall colors in an Upper Midwest river valley, you have been severely deprived. My job has me driving through S. Mn, and the scenes are fantastic. But, we are looking at a front moving in with wind, and life could change soon. The crops appear to be almost in.

My daughter was bullied in high school. Never really understood why, but one group of girls decided she was their target. This was pre political correctness and teaching staff didn't really care. She survived, and showed that the best revenge is living well. She graduated college with honors, her first job was as an account manager for a small company that involved traveling the entire U.S. She was recruited by the owner of a major fitness company to work on their magazine staff, married very well, and has two of the finest children ever born. She has also become a drop dead gorgeous woman. She has a good time at class reunions when talking to he old "friends" about how life is going. (Some of this may just be my humble opinion, the rest is just pure pride.)

Met a Gordon Setter today. A beautiful dog, friendly and almost blind. It was interesting watching him keep track of us by sound and scent.

May frost tonight. Cold enough for ya? Uff da!!

Julie - I think it appears to be bullying to me when he suggested that because of what she looked like she shouldn't do her job. Like she said, she knows how big she is and doesn't need someone else to tell her. There is a fine line. Kids just being kids and no matter what someone will always say something to you about something. And when it is done repeatedly and maliciously than I think it's bullying. And sometime you need to call someone a bitch because frankly, she is.

We haven't had 2 drops of rain since mid-July. Dryest ever since the1890's and people say that all it does is rain here.Stick out tongue Sunny and mid 60's to low 70's for the next 10 days. Its October right? This weather is unheard of and I miss the rain and grey skies. I'm a true PNW girl.

I think bullying is more more intense and dangerous these days. The line will actually be different for each victim/target and they set the line. When I heard the tape of those kids bullying the school bus driver I immediately thought they were mimicking their parents. Nastiness is a learned behavior, disrespect is a learned behavior, violence is mostly a learned behavior (all my opinion). Where do they learn it? Parents, other adults (coaches, etc), tv, movies,... If you say you want to shoot someone, kids won't all understand you don't mean literally. When you comment on someone's appearance, your kid hears it, may be hears someone laugh at your comments and decide its a way to get liked and laughs. The level of the meanness is higher than it was, I used to teach and did counseling of troubled kids and as ugly as it got, it wasn't as bad as some of the high profile cases in the news. No where near it.

Add me to the 'target' group, I was and am a dork, nerd, brown-nose, geek, whatever term you use. I was also very tomboy and although I was amongst the tallest, it was more about being bigger and stronger. A friend says I was/ am like Amy Wambach of USA soccer, not delicate, lol. I was also very quiet and introverted, I wasn't too bothered about any of the crap,so I was lucky.

Doug I am envious of you experiencing Fall, looks like it will arrive here on Sunday

Can anyone tell me how Bugsy's thyroid was insanely low in the last T4 so they upped his dose and now its through the roof? Meanwhile there is no change in him; weight, skin, attitude, etc.

I don't know if it's the same in dogs, but I know when my thyroid is low, they LOWER the dose. If it's high, they RAISE the dose.

Jackie, I was teased my whole childhood for being long and lean. Sometimes I think it's just as mean to tease a skinny kid as it is to tease a heavy kid.

Tina, when I was in junior high there was a teacher named Mr. Weiner. And yes, he got teased horribly. So much that he changed the pronunciation to sound like "whiner." Which wasn't a whole lot better.

I either have an alien baby in my stomach or some really odd gas. I've had a stomachache all evening, with lots of gurgling. Very rare for me and uncomfortable!

Really???? His has been stable for 2 or 3 yrs - lost track, thus my confusion as to how it had to be altered/upped 2x this summer. But it the blood level of thyroid hormone is low we add hormone and vice versa. Still waiting the call from the vet so I should know more later

I'm not good at explaining how it works, so I found something online to copy and paste. Geeked

TSH stands for thyroid stimulating hormone, and it is not a thyroid hormone, but rather a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. T4 and T3 are the actual hormones produced by the thyroid gland. Generally when the TSH is too high, additional tests will show that the actual thyroid hormones are too low. The pituitary gland is working overtime - churning out TSH because your body is not properly producing thyroid hormones - hence the high TSH/low T3 and T4 combination. What you're really trying to correct here is not the TSH level, but the corresponding low thyroid hormone levels. In general, with a hypothyroid patient, there is an inverse relationship between TSH level and the levels of the actual thyroid hormones.
