Saturday chatting

Ahhh rain. That would be nice. Despite the fact that we have had no rain in forever, I have tons of mushrooms growing in my back yard. It is weird. They don't grow in the front.

I am supposed to be somewhere in 20 mins and I am not dressed yet. I think today is going to be a huge waste of time. I would much rather spend the day cleaning my car out.

 A news article was bothering me all night.  A woman in my town, about my age and whose husband died about the same time mine did, was getting lonely, went on match.com and found what she thought was a "nice, Christian guy" who lived in the area.  She never met him as he was overseas on business.  Over the next year he bilked her of her life savings....800K!!!!   I simply can't imagine anyone doing this, let alone no one stopping her.  She has 2 sons...  Wonder if this guy's conscience is remotely feeling guilty!

Sadly probably not Marty. I dont understand how people can do that to someone else when I feel guilty not giving every time I don't give money to the salvation army bell ringers.

Oh Marty, that is so sad. I always wonder how people can get bilked out of so much money but then realize that these con artists are very good at what they do. So sad.

We haven't had rain in ages and probably won't have any for quite some time. High 90s today and then 100 tomorrow and the next day.

I emailed the volunteer coordinator and asked if the automobile museum where the event is tonight is air conditioned. She emailed me back and said it was not and it was hot in there while they were setting up. I'm so glad I asked and will dress accordingly. Hopefully the delta breezes will kick in.

Jackie I taped some of yesterday's Ryder Cup but gave up because its on all day today too :) It is FABULOUS TV

So poor abused Bugsy howled for ages when I left for a walk without him, I could still hear him a 1/4 mile away  It breaks my heart but we'll survive.

We had several storms overnight and its raining now.........and will do for most of today according to the weatherman.  AOK for me I can watch the Ryder Cup 

To further torment Bugsy I just hid 3 almonds inside a stuffie that had a few tears in it................great that kept him busy for 2 minutes LOL

 I have an insane craving for Chinese food.  Unfortunately, it's only a little after 10am here and they don't open until 1130 am lol.  I'm starving!!  There's no food in the house.  I wanted to pretty much use up everything so I could clean out the refrigerator and cabinets a tad easier. So unless I want a breakfast of coffee and olives - I think I'll wait until I can get some takeout and then food shop later tonight =)

In other randomness, my morning started with an emergency page.  Said emergency page could have been easily avoided if people CHECKED their gosh darned schedule as required. Waking me up early on a Saturday for something so foolish tends to make me a bit cranky.

Marty that's awful.  There are people out there that are just good at using and abusing others, and I doubt very much a guilty thought crosses their mind. 

 

It rained here allllll day yesterday and is looking like it could again today.  Some parts of the state got over an inch and a half of rain!  Yikes.

Marty, that truly is terrible.  I hope they find a way to fry his fanny for that.

Since I worked both days last weekend, I'm being incredibly lazy today and it feels wonderful!

ran to Costco which is 16 miles there and back. saw 5 accidents, people are idiots. Nothing serious, glad it wasn't me.

Got Bugsy two new memory foam beds, his cedar and fill beds have gotten lumpy. The memory foam ones are huge and $24. He's had one in our bedroom for a couple of years and it is like new. The cedar/fill ones are years old too. I don't mind buying several beds at their prices. He doesn't go on furniture so I keep a bed in the most common rooms for him and by and large he stays on them.

I should make a soup for dinner but I'll likely just graze. Looking forward to DH coming home tomorrow

We're supposed to be looking at 100 for the next three days, then a gradual cool down to the high 80s by next weekend.  I was hoping to start digging out Halloween/fall decorations ... maybe that will help me think "cool" for a few days. I have a new sweater I'm really anxious to wear (it looks like a Georgia O'Keefe painting) but it's a bit heavy, so I think it would have to be in the low 60s or high 50s for it to be appropriate. I can barely remember what 80 feels like.

Marty, that's terrible.  How was he able to access her accounts, or did he con her into giving him money? It kind of reminds me of women who become pen pals with guys in prison, and then wind up giving them everything they have. I think it's pretty rare that anyone who loses a lot of money to a con artist ever sees any of it again.

 Joyce, he conned her into wiring money for a phoney business scheme.  She even went into her 401K and now has a lien on her home for that.  She had friends warning her, the bank and even the FBI warned her that it was a scam.  She just had blinders on, and was convinced that everything was on the up and up. 

Her late husband was military, so I imagine she at least has his pension to live on.  Not quite what they had worked so hard for...  The FBI is investigating, but I doubt she'll see any of that money again.  

Makes me glad that I feel that one man was plenty!  

 I have a cold. Sneezing, runny nose and weak like a baby. Power was out this morning from 8-12, somebody hit a telephone pole while Texting and the top fell off, Nobody was hurt not even the driver. Texting while driving is extremely dangerous and irresponsible! Whats it gonna take? GRR!

Wife is in the North Woods at the yearly gathering of her old Girl Scout troop. About ten of them still alive and active. So I get to bach it for a little. Sleep late, run the dog, snack, was going to shoot some, but my range closed. Used to be able to go to a gravel pit or dump and shoot targets. Now, they tend to put you in jail for that.

Was very hot and sunny, so Piper and I didn't last long in the field. My local govt has decided to do something with my alley. Don't know what, but the total to be shared by about 20 households is about $138,000. I already have to pay on assessment for the street in front and on the side street ( The joys of the corner lot). I think I am going to get active in city govt. Please send all rotten tomatoes to my address. I will complete the delivery.

My neighbors, a nice couple and excellent neighbors, are getting their place ready to sell. Power washing, replacing the front door, painting, and seal coating their driveway. Piper had to investigate, of course, and is now seal coated. Bad enough that she walked in it, but her rear legs slid out . Fortunately, she is black and white. I got most of it off with an orange based cleaner. Tomorrow, haircut day.

Sorry you've got a cold Tiffy. :(  People who text while driving never cease to amaze me.  I guess they all think they won't be one of those who has an accident.  Until they do.  Makes me crazy to see them obliviously driving along with their eyes on their phones instead of the road. 

The sun has come out and it's steamy like a sauna.  Time to go put another coat of paint on the baseboards. DH has borrowed an air compressor, nail gun and a miter saw.  He's trying to channel Mike Holmes but we'll see how that works out tomorrow.  lol

Belle pulled the trellis down trying to get to a lizard. 

$138k should pave the entire alley. Those assessments suck!

Sorry about the downed trellis and I will mail boxes of tissues and rotten tomatoes tomorrow.

Our demo today turned out to be a dud so we left after an hour. I was so thankful because I basically have 1 day off this week, today, and I needed to spend it doing things around the house. So, I super cleaned my car, washed the crates and took the steam cleaner to all the carpeting then replaced the floor mats. Do you know that there is not one floormat that isn't made in china for sale at meijers? *annoyed*. Anyway, I cleaned out the garage some more, got it all organized for the winter, then cleaned the deck, the inside of my house and did laundry. I feel like a power woman rawr. Now, I am going to chill with some ice cream (oh I also went grocery shopping) and maybe start the first season of dexter so i can return the dvd to my boss.

We have a search first thing tomorrow but it is unlikely we will find anything. It is kind of a rest of the world/needle in a haystack search at this point. The guy has been missing for 2 months.
