Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. What a horrible tragedy. His poor family. What is it with people who have disputes with someone, whether it be a neighbor, coworker, boss, random driver, or even a family member . . . and they think the solution to the problem is to shoot the person? It seems the knee-jerk reaction for some people in disputes is to grab a deadly weapon.
Karen, I hope your friend's situation with her child improves over time, but it can be a lifelong struggle. We have an old friend whose daughter was diagnosed with a major mental illness over 20 years ago, and it takes a toll on the whole family. She's always greatful when her daughter is feeling reasonably well, but there are ups and downs. I imagine with an adopted child it would be much harder because you lack all the family history (medical and emotional) to provide some insight into her issues.
Julie, get some Vitamin C, some Airborne, and drink lots of water. I don't know if they truly work, but it can make you feel a bit better if you try to fight back on those approaching germs!
We've been having some great fall weather --- cold at night (50's), mostly sunny days, reaching low 70's by afternoon. My favorite weather! I washed and ironed my capris for the last time this weekend, and I wore my new boots two nights in a row because my tootsies would be too cold in sandals!
