    Saturday chatting

Goooood morning! It is going to be a beautiful sun shiney day here. I hope everyone else is having weather like this I ran the dogs around with a friend last night pretty hard and now abbie is limping and won't put weight on her front leg again. This is the same leg as last time. I am tempted to take her in but they said it was muscle and not joint last time we went. I am not convinved. What is up with hollywood and all the crappy movies lately? We wanted to hit the movies last night but there was absolutely nothing that sounded remotely good. Half of the movies were reruns.

Agree about the crappy movies and I really hope Abbie is okay.

I'm going to get Shaned fed and me cleaned up and then we're going to go to the Lend a Heart/Lend a Hand orientation. I was going to skip it since I'm not sure Shane is as good of a candidate as I thought he might be but I figure it can't hurt to go.

Still in the mid 90s here and for the next few days but the mornings are beautiful and cool.

Oh Abbie!! How did they evaluate her last time? FWIW I recall someone's dog having a soft tissue shoulder injury and it took 6-8 wks of crate rest to heal :(

Speaking of limps.............I sent another video/update to the surgeon. His response was that he wants us to come in and get an MRI - I have felt sick to my stomach ever since I picked up the email at about 7 last night. B isn't enjoying his rest days <= understatement, but I am doing the best I can to keep him settled.  The pain meds are starting to upset his stomach so I am not giving any today.

Its a gorgeous day and I am wasting the morning away doing nothing LOL I have a ton of cleaning to do and I should do a hike or something. We have a casual gathering to go to later.

Julie there are a few movies I'd like to see - The Bourne one and Lawless are the two that come to mind immediately - I pay little to no attention to films but I would like to see those two

    Poor puppers.

Right now it's overcast here, but that's ok.  Nice and COOL, and today is a day for the kitchen.  I've got 20 lbs of ground sirloin, 10 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breasts and a 15 lb pork loin to do something with today.  Would like to get some bread baked too.

Hope everyone else enjoys their day as much as I'm going to enjoy mine!

The only movie that sounds appealing to me right now is the Finding Nemo 3-D, but I can't usually handle 3-D, and I have nobody to go with me. I was going to suck up getting sick from it, but not to go by myself.

The allergies are still being a pain in the ass. I think it might rain Monday night, and finally, I might be okay. If not, I have no idea when I will be able to breathe normally again.

Apparently, I missed an interview yesterday. She never confirmed that the time was okay. She wrote and said Thursday or Friday after 10:30. I responded and asked if Friday at 11 was okay. She never wrote me back to confirm that it was good. I meant to call, but feeling crappy all week, I totally forgot. I feel terrible about it, but having responded back with a question about whether that was okay, I expected to get a response to confirm it.

I need to go have a fight with my printer, and also write back to another person who I do not want to have a meeting with. We were supposed to meet tomorrow, but she blew me off on Wednesday (meeting was scheduled on 8/25, so asking me to reschedule 2.5 weeks later for non-emergency events pisses me off).  The thing we need to do will take 3-4 hours, and we need to get it done by October 6th. So, we need to start next weekend so that we have the following weekend available if things don't work out as planned next weekend. If it turns out well, this is something we might look to present. She can't do next weekend, which is too bad for her. There are other people who will be coming out with me next weekend who were willing and able to do it (and one who was counting on this person to bail at the last minute so that she could get in on this). Had she told me earlier, we could have moved it up and made it earlier (with or without her, I was waiting to give her time to get it ready). One of the other people, the one who was counting on this one to be a flake, said she thought my excitement over this particular thing intimidated the flake. That is entirely possible, because I was pretty darn excited over it.

Julie and Karen, I'm sending healing vibes for Abby and Bugsy.  I hope both of you can find out what's going on with your pups.

I want to see Finding Nemo in 3D.

We've got the house back together, mostly.  We still have to put up the new baseboard molding but that's not happening this weekend.  We all feel so much better having everything back in it's rightful place.  Poor Rex was the most freaked out without his favorite spots to hang out in.

I'm off to the hair salon for an emergency procedure. lol  We're going to see Vince Gill tonight at the Majestic Theatre.  I absolutely love this venue.

The weather is cloudy and coolish here. :)  We had 3 inches of rain Thursday night!  Big Smile

Karen, get the mri. You will feel better knowing than not.

The vet last time just manipulated abbies leg from shoulder to toe and the vet said her joints felt good. She thought it was just a muscle pull. How you can tell that without an xray, I have no idea. But it is pretty much too late today to take her in so I will just rest her this weekend and see where she is at.

I don't get the attraction to 3d movies. They make me motion sick, which is probably why ha. And wearing someone elses glasses that have never been washed sicks me out

Glenda what are you going to do with all that meat?
    • Gold Top Dog

The 3D movies make me sick too, but I do love that Ellen Degeneres. I would take a Dramamine if someone would come with me to that.

Folding my laundry and watching YouTube videos was definitely a better use of my time than going to meet with the person who wanted to meet with me this morning. Yup. I did hear back from my other, more promising, real Padawan. The annoying one who wanted to see me this morning and bailed on the meeting tomorrow is not my Padawan. Both of these people need supervision in order to be able to sit for their certification exam.  The one who bailed doesn't usually meet with me, my Padawan will be meeting with me regularly.

I love 3D movies and fortunately have no problems with feeling sick. When we went to see Avatar, they gave us brand new glasses and we were able to take them home. Good thing too cause they're really cute Wink

I rushed to get Shane fed and ready for the orientation but the headache I'd woke up with (again!) was only getting worse and the thought of sitting for 2 1/2 hrs feeling this way was more than I could imagine. I sent an apology email and feel badly for bailing at the last minute but I'm still glad I did.

I took Shane to our favorite place for a walk and out from behind a tree trunk came a huge wild turkey. Shane was a mixture of super curious and scared. I didn't want him to start acting up or the turkey to chase us, so I kept us walking but Shane kept looking back for the longest time. We came around again and I thought the turkey had left and then I saw him peeking from behind the tree. As we moved, it moved to stay hidden behind the tree trunk. So cute!

I've taken motrin and as soon as it starts working, I'm going to get some cleaning done.

Julie, I have an enormous pot of sketti sauce simmering.  Much will be bagged and frozen, but will also get several lasagna's made and in the freezer.  I've done 4 meals of stuffed peppers, a couple meatloafs, goulash (family fav), and need to run out to the store for pintos so I can do refried beans to put in the burritos.  Will also put together a couple shepherds pies.  Have a 10 lb bag of russets baking for twice baked taters, and plan to filet some of the chicken for picatta, slice some for stirfry, and probably put a couple chicken caseroles in the freezer.  I also do stuff like make up patties for burgers and separate them with was paper.  Whatever I can do to make weeknite meals quicker to get going.

The BEST movie going right now is unfortunately only at film festivals.  Brilliant Mistakes is an incredible film.  Can't wait for it to be on DVD because I'd love to see it again.

    Back to the kitchen........

Same thing happened to us when we saw Avatar.  It might depend on the theatre you choose.

My hair gal spent a ton of time on my hair and it sure needed the attention.  She's having lots of personal problems which also made the appointment longer as she sometimes gets so carried away talking, she stops working on my hair.  Luckily I didn't have too much to do so it wasn't a big deal.  She's a nice gal who is struggling as she's self employed and now has some health problems and no insurance.

Cathy, I am laughing at the curious turkey. :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Abbie is howling at the kids blowing horns down the street. I am totally amused.

LOL Cathy that turkey story is hysterical!

    Julie - no video??

Jackie I am thinking of you as I am steam cleaning my carpets...............and dreaming of tile

I decided to move the modular couch in our TV room and I can see why sometimes B is desperately trying to get under there - it seems DH drops a peanut or almond or 2 from time to time - ahem.   Anyway once I moved it I couldn't not clean the carpet - it looked like a vacuum cleaner commercial with the nuts, dust, and other junk under there. I really wish I could put the couch in a different position but there really isn't any other way to have it. Sad

I'm seriously considering moving in with Glenda. Big Smile

Cathy, we have huge flocks of wild turkeys wandering around here.  A few days ago it took me about 10 minutes to be able to pull into my driveway because they were on both sides, wandering back and forth. They used to live over behind the cemetery, but now they're spread out all over.  Funny thing is, Max will walk right through a flock and not even notice them, but he can spot a cat or a squirrel a block away.  They're fun to watch, but once they move into a neighborhood they can become a real PITA in a very short time.

Joyce - we have large amounts of the wild turkeys here too but I hadn't seen any in several months and I think this might've been the 1st one Shane has seen. He honestly looked a little terrified. He doesn't have high prey drive like Sassy had and as we were walking away, it seemed like he was afraid it was going to come running after us. Big Smile

DH says they've seen a few skunks recently on their morning (pre-dawn) walks and Shane doesn't seem too interested. He likes squirrels though but will stare relatively calmly at them. What he really, really, really wants is to catch one of the large pigeons or Mourning Doves that landed out back.
