Day before vacation chat (Wednesday)

lmbo! That's funny...and thankfully...not applicable to our situation. Aside from the one that is getting less and less subtle about wanting to "Church" our kids...I have nothing to complain about these days in the MIL dept.

Jackie - we ran into the same thing with our tile, even though we were careful to check the lot #s. Since DH and I laid it ourselves, we paid close attention to the variations. It is one of the reasons DH has balked at replaced the cracked tiles though. The extras that we have are lighter and it will probably be noticeable. Sad

Lisa - I hope you have a wonderful vacation. It's been too long since I've had that excited feeling about getting away. I definitely feel overdue.

DH woke up feeling yucky. Hopefully it just a matter of being overly tired and nothing worse or catching.

I think I heard that we might be in the triple digits in the next few days. That just doesn't seem right for this time of year.

LOL that MIL joke is funny. I wouldn't post that on fb either haha

I'm not too worried about my headache situation. I'm a chronic headacher and have been to the doc about it many many times. I ended up taking 800 mg of motrin this morning though it hurt so dang bad, but I think it is related to sinuses and allergies. I haven't been able to wear my contacts for the same amount of time because my eyes are so irritated with allergies and we are having huge variations in our weather right now which usually triggers headaches for me. I just need to be careful with how much stuff I take because that can trigger rebound headaches once the stuff wears off. headaches headaches headaches, it's pretty much the story of my life.

There's a new mexican place downtown that just opened up last week. So far we have been there 3x (we went again today). I asked a co-worker how long it would be before we all got sick of it and his response was "well there are people who eat mexican every day!" *rolls eyes*. It is cheap though! I got lunch for $5. Hard to beat that anymore.

    Lisa, POST IT!!! :)

Jackie, are you going to let anyone jump at dock diving? I would love to let some of my guys jump, but I never seem to have the time.

I could eat Mexican food daily, & be perfectly content. That said, we have so many Mexican food places here, that I could eat for weeks & never eat at the same place twice.

I never get to check in here anymore. Hope that everyone is doing well!

Mmmm Mexican food.  Where I live in NH there's a serious lack of ethnic cuisine. I can't recall the last time I had some good Mexican food.  There used to be this Mexican restaurant in Massachusetts that I went to (near to Boston).  Complete hole in the wall, shabby looking restaurant, but the friendliest staff and best Mexican food.

My allergies have been raging so bad, I broke down and took some Claritin-D today.  My heart is now racing a bit, I get a bit dizzy when I stand up and I'm starting to feel anxious.  THIS is why I avoid medications.  However, I can breathe (first time in a week), and my sinus headache is gone and my eyes have stopped itching.  I'm on the fence if the side effects are worth it.  At least it truly is non-drowsy.  Otherwise, I might start drooling at my desk here at work.

I made the office staff lunch today.  Big salad with roasted chicken and fruit salad.  Went over well :)  I really enjoy chopping vegetables.  It's my form of meditation hehe.

Lisa have a great time on your vacation!

Nice to "see" you, Amanda!  Hope all your pups are doing well.

Lisa, have a great time on your vacation!  We haven't been away on a vacation in a few years.  Any time we take off is to entertain houseguests and visitors, or to have a day here or there away from work.  Enjoy some fun in the sun for me!

That MIL cartoon is hilarious.  I don't have children, but I'm well aware of certain "issues" DH has because of the way he was parented, so it's still funny!

Glad you're happy with how the tile is coming along, Jackie.  I chuckled at your "hoarders" reference.  When we had our carpet installed last month, we felt like that for a couple days.  We had to literally climb over a couch to get into the kitchen, and Ruby had no idea where to put herself since everything was stuffed into one room and a hallway.  Maneuvering around the house was a challenging obstacle course!

Julie, I get headaches very often, too.  Some are due to eye-strain (too much time in front of a computer at work), some are allergy related, some are neck/shoulder tension headaches.  I almost have a daily headache in some form, but waking up with them is the worst.  I also notice them with severe weather changes (maybe barometric pressure??).  Right now we have very cold nights in the 40's, yet it'll be mid 80's today.  That kind of temp swing is nuts.  And sleeping with the windows open means allergens and any air quality issues due to forest fires outside the valely will affect me.  Sometimes I find drinking a Coke or caffeinated drink helps, on top of the ibuprofen.

Can't get motivated to work today!

I forgot to say that it's so cool that your daughter caught a foul ball, Gina!  What are the chances of that, out of all the spectators?!  I've never known anyone to have done that.  She must've been thrilled!  I'm glad someone near her didn't knock her over or grab it out of her hands, like I've seen on sports/news clips a few times!

Cathy, I agree.  I can hear the high school football team practicing from my house and that means the temperature should be dropping about 40 degrees and the jeans and sweatshirts should be coming out of the closet.

    Lisa, have a fantastic vacation!

HGTV?  Yes, but as much as I used to.  Some of these new shows like "Selling New York" and "Selling L.A." are too hard to wrap my head around.  There's just something too off putting about someone looking to rent and thinking that $25K a month is OK, or laying out $5 million for an apartment in NY that's actually smaller than my house, even if it does have top of the line appliances and a view of Central Park. Tongue Tied

Now I guess I'd better finish scooping poop before the yard guys come.  Max has the innocent "I dint do dat, Mom" look down pat, but when I find pieces of the chewed up pot holder in the poop, there's no doubt about who did it.

Tracy, odds are from what I read, hard to get to because every park is different, and there are so many variables like amt of foul balls hit, amt of those in the stands, our seat, the weather, the attendance etc. BUT roughly 1 in 1000 seems to be the accepted "odds" :) I've been to many games, and sat many places and never had one very close where a catch or grab was even POSSIBLE! I should've had her pick me some lottery number huh?

I could eat Mexican food every day!! Like Amanda, we have so many good places around here, it would take a long time to get bored.

Joyce - I'm with you on the new HGTV shows. I used to be addicted to the channel and lately I can't find anything that I can relate to. Million dollar rooms? Seriously? Huh?

I rarely get headaches anymore but I've had one the last few days along with a lot of sneezing when I wake up. I don't generally have problems with allergies but something has them stirred up. I take a tiny Walmart version of Allegra or Claritin or ? and it helps a lot and I don't have any side affects. I'll have to check and see what it actually is.

I agree.  We used to really enjoy the design and makeover shows, but it seems like everything is about people looking for homes at price points (or in exotic locations) that the average TV viewer can't fathom.  Maybe HGTV thinks their viewers like to live vicariously through the lifestyles of the insanely rich, but I just can't relate!

We have a family member who's a realtor in the Boston area.  Recent clients were looking for a "condo" for their daughters who needed a place to live while in college.  Their budget was $2 - $3 million.  Living in a spectacular loft with city views was not exactly the experience I had as a college student, sharing a tiny room with 1 or 2 roommates, 1 closet, and a shared bathroom down the hall.

That's what I was thinking!  Big Smile

I could eat Mexican every day too but since it tends to be fattening I try and control myself. lol

No, I won't be having any of the dogs dock diving, Amanda. Last year I signed Belle up for a class on dock diving after we had watched a local competition but that was a total disaster due to a trainer who had no clue and Belle's lack of experience in getting in a pool. I had to tell the trainer to stop what she was doing with Belle and get Belle out of the pool. The owner of the facility is a friend of mine and I had to watch what I said but the entire class of dogs were traumatized by the experience.

I've had enough experience being embarassed by my dogs in competitions so I can happily watch others have that fun.  lol Belle loves water but it has to be dirty tank water or the ocean.  For non Texans, a tank is a manmade body of water mostly built for cattle and other livestock.  Often landowners stock them with catfish and bass and retriever trainers use them for water training.  :) Rex likes to chase minnows on the edges but not swimming, Gabby likes to bite at the water she splashes in her face and Twister won't get in past his elbows.  Not a dock dog among them. lol  I spent so many years driving all over Texas competing with dogs that I'm happy to have a bunch of non performers. :)

Amanda its nice to see you.   I have really missed hearing about the antics of your crew.  Dont suppose you have any recent pics that you feel inclined to share? :)

Did someone say Mexican food????? does that mean we are having shots or margarita's?

    • Gold Top Dog

Julie, I'm sorry headaches are so much a part of your life but am glad to know you don't ignore them.

My co-worker's baby just made an appearance in the office with mom. I'm always amazed at how tiny the hands and feet are, esp. the toes. Did we all really start out so small?
