Lisa, that photo of Riley on the horse is absolutely adorable! She looks so tiny up there.
It was drizzling this morning at 5:30. It's supposed to be in the high 60's today, overcast, and chance of showers. They're saying near 90 by the end of the week, so I'm not going to put my sandals away yet!
I think we have a sign on our door that says "mini dog shelter." Yet again, we housed a stray dog overnight on Saturday. A guy found a pitbull mix wandering in a park down the street, and while walking him through streets nearby looking for the owner, he ran into our neighbor walking her dog. She gave him our name/address since we'd "know what to do." This guy lived in an apartment and couldn't take the dog home, but he didn't want to leave him lose in the park. This was about 8:30pm.
The dog's ID tag had a disconnected cell phone number on it, but no other names/addresses. The dog was very sweet, happy to eat a late dinner, have a walk around the block, then sleep quietly in a crate in the garage. We posted a notice on the county's dog control website, and the guy who found him posted on Craig's List. Someone called us yesterday morning, and after giving us some very specific info about the dog's appearance so we'd know she was legit, we arranged for her to pick him up. Apparently, they had a bunch of people over for a BBQ/football game party, and people wandered in and out of the unfenced yard all evening. He was out there unsupervised, got away, and no one missed him until late that night. Anyway, he was happy to see his owner, and we were glad we didn't have to keep him again last night until the county shelter opened this morning. He was unneutered, so I thought about giving her a brochure about the low-cost spay/neuter clinic here, but I refrained. DH did tell her she had to get an updated ID tag with an accurate phone number on it.
It's a Monday! First full week I've worked in a while . . . ugh.
