    Monday Chatting

Where is everyone this morning.  LOL

Sooo tired this morning.  We had a good weekend.  Riley had her 1st official riding lesson yesterday.  I have never seen her have such a serious face when she was riding.  At one point I thought that maybe she wasn't having fun, but after she was done she so excited and asked when she could ride Dolly again.  I guess that's a good sign.  Here are a few pics:

I guess everyone is busy getting ready for work. It's not often that I get to start a MC thread. I had planned to get out early to take Shane for a walk but here I sit drinking coffee instead. It's actually really chilly this morning but will be in the mid 90s most of the week. I took Shane for a walk yesterday evening and it was really too hot. I made it a short one and it did the trick of tiring him out but I won't do that again.

I was supposed to go on DH's health insurance effective Sept 1st. I hadn't gotten anything in the mail though so I called Kaiser yesterday and they said they show nothing even pending for me. I was soooooo mad!! The person I'd been dealing with in DH's HR had been a ditz but she'd assured me it was taken care of. I emailed her and told her it needed to be taken care of ASAP and asked DH to look into it today too. The thought of something happening and not having medical coverage makes me cringe. DH emailed me last night and said "don't go anywhere until we hear something". I guess he doesn't have much confidence in my driving skills. Stick out tongue

LOL - I knew as I was typing that someone else was probably starting a thread.

Love the pictures of Riley and the horsies!!

merged the threads ladies! That is a late start for a Monday!!

Gosh DH has come home and been irritable, bah humbug!

Bugsy is settling some, we had a long walk this morning, its really the only thing that settles his mind/anxiety. Still limping badly so I am giving him rimadyl. He is happily resting next to me as per our normal routine Smile

Sounds terrible but I wish mom were going home today but she's here until Thursday. I am ready to just get fully on my schedule. She is looking to be entertained - which is completely understandable - but I am trying to catch up with work/emails/yardwork etc.

The crazy storm we came home to on Saturday evening has brought the MOST wonderful weather. It was in the 50's this morning and we are expecting highs of about 80 = stupendous!! Big Smile

The tree that got hit by lightning has suddenly shown itself to have died. I had been watching it all summer and not seen much indication it was dead, but noticed it immediately yesterday.  I'll need to get some quotes for having it removed asap I guess. Its way too tall to leave so close to the house

OK best get moving - although I don't want to disturb beastie LOL

I love seeing Riley riding!  Big Smile

Cathy, that's ridiculous about the health insurance.  I'd be freaked out too and I hope it gets straightened on soon.  I was going to take a picture of the tile we picked out but can't find our sample tile.  It's called Durango Noce and is on Lowe's website if you want to see it.  It's not nearly as dark as it looks on the web site.  It's sort of light beige with darker colors threaded throughout.  I hope we love it because there's no going back now. lol

Lovely cool morning here and our highs are supposed to remain in the low 90's.  That's cool for us this time of year.  :)

I got the worker's comp report done first thing and love having that out of the way.

Karen, I'm still so jealous but thrilled for you getting to release those baby turtles.  I was watching a NatGeo show last night about nesting Green turtles but had to change the channel when they were showing the mama turtles getting stranded in the rocks near shore at low tide. Crying  Nature is cruel sometimes and though I understand it and usually don't let it bother me much, this was just too sad to watch.

Jackie - I looked up that tile and it looks exactly like what we have in our kitchen/dining area and entryway. We laid it when we bought the house and I love it!! It's super forgiving in terms of hiding dirt and has been easy to maintain. I just know you're going to be really happy with it and hopefully won't have any of the problems we've had with the cracks.

I stayed in bed pretty late this morning, cause I took a bunch of allergy crap last night. I'd maybe not work today, but I haven't seen this kid in two weeks, and I need to bring her a birthday present,  as it was her birthday yesterday. I hope I have tape and wrapping paper, or I'll have to stop in somewhere and get a gift bag on my way to go see her. Or maybe I will do that anyway, because I'm feeling too lazy for wrapping paper.

I just hung up from a two hour conference call.  My head is going to explode.

OMG why do they get stranded??? I take it they can't move well on rocks?  No way I could watch that, those little babies are etched in my soul. The one person that was digging the babies up said that 1 in 10,000 survive (I have also heard 1 in 1,000 so unsure of the real numbers) The resort we were at sets about 50,000 free each season. I was disappointed to learn that programs like the one they run only increases the survival rate by 5%. I assumed it would be greater since the nests are protected from being raided and all the babies make it to sea.

Cathy don't go anywhere...............hope the insurance is sorted out today!

Great pics Lisa! Giddy-up! Nice weekend here. Spending the first bit of today looking thru the MANY possibilities for the hubs and I's Halloween costumes. I got a start on mine last month but he's just now starting to give me some input on what he wants to do. I love Halloween and I flew my Mom in from California to ensure that we'd have a sitter to do something...THAT is how serious I am about it HAHA! Hoping everyone has a decent Monday!

    Woke up with a headache

Check engine light came on in the truck and stayed on

Washing machine was $135 to repair

Corporate Amex bill came Friday and is due Wednesday

    Yep, it's Monday...

Riley's pic on the horse got me to smile depite the other stuff.

Lisa, that photo of Riley on the horse is absolutely adorable!  She looks so tiny up there.

It was drizzling this morning at 5:30.  It's supposed to be in the high 60's today, overcast, and chance of showers.  They're saying near 90 by the end of the week, so I'm not going to put my sandals away yet!

I think we have a sign on our door that says "mini dog shelter."  Yet again, we housed a stray dog overnight on Saturday.  A guy found a pitbull mix wandering in a park down the street, and while walking him through streets nearby looking for the owner, he ran into our neighbor walking her dog.  She gave him our name/address since we'd "know what to do."  This guy lived in an apartment and couldn't take the dog home, but he didn't want to leave him lose in the park. This was about 8:30pm.

The dog's ID tag had a disconnected cell phone number on it, but no other names/addresses.  The dog was very sweet, happy to eat a late dinner, have a walk around the block, then sleep quietly in a crate in the garage.  We posted a notice on the county's dog control website, and the guy who found him posted on Craig's List.  Someone called us yesterday morning, and after giving us some very specific info about the dog's appearance so we'd know she was legit, we arranged for her to pick him up.  Apparently, they had a bunch of people over for a BBQ/football game party, and people wandered in and out of the unfenced yard all evening.  He was out there unsupervised, got away, and no one missed him until late that night.  Anyway, he was happy to see his owner, and we were glad we didn't have to keep him again last night until the county shelter opened this morning.  He was unneutered, so I thought about giving her a brochure about the low-cost spay/neuter clinic here, but I refrained.  DH did tell her she had to get an updated ID tag with an accurate phone number on it.

    It's a Monday!  First full week I've worked in a while . . . ugh.

Oh no! We did talk to the installer about the thinset that's made for soil that shifts (very common here) and that's the type he always uses.  I hope we don't have a lot of cracks because that will completely freak out DH.

The turtle mamas weren't able to maneuver well on the rocky shore.  It wasn't an issue at high tide but some didn't make their journey back to the sea in time to avoid the low tide.  Some were able to find shallow pools among the rocks and stayed cool enough to survive until the tide rose again and they could swim out to sea.  Survival of the fittest be damned, it was too sad to watch.

Gina have you checked out this site for Halloween costumes?  http://www.chasing-fireflies.com/costumes/departments/46/

They are over the moon expensive, but they had some cool ideas for adults (its not just kiddos).

I love the tile Jackie!  We have got to start thinking about getting new carpet for our place.  The only problem is the whole thing needs to be replaced and since it's the same throughout and we have a ranch it's going to be one big expense at one time.

I am so underprepared for this trip on Thursday.  I have about 90% of the packing done, but I haven't made any of my usual lists, etc.  Plus the Riley clothes thing is stressing me out.  The weather is so unpredictible this time of the year, in the am it is down right chilly, but by noon when she leaves for school it could 80 degrees.  I like to put all her outfits with undies, socks, shoes, and hair stuff together for each day so my mom doesn't have to try and match stuff up (plus I am OCD about it).  I need to stop being obsessive about it.

yeah they sent us a catalog Lisa :) Hubs and I are going steampunk this year so we have some pretty specific needs. Lily liked a couple of the accessories in there since she wants to be a dragon this year. That kid is so weird. Elias as usual has no ideas, only that he hates everything we suggest HAHA! I keep telling him we'll be shopping on October 30th in the store and he'll get stuck being a banana cuz thats all that is left!
