    Thursday Chat

Someone stop me from running away to a tropical island for a few months.

But, I was thinking of doing the same!  You can even have all the cabana boys....I just want to relax.

Um, if you are going you better bring me with you.

    • Gold Top Dog
Clone me first so I have someone to fill in at my desk; then I'm going with you. Paradise

I'll go if I can take Twister. :)  I'll need a clone too, btw.  Deb, can you bring the booze?

I'm so happy to have my truck back.  Big Smile

We're supposed to get our first cool front in this weekend, if it makes it this far South.  66 degrees Sunday morning and only 91 for the high temp would be sweet. :)  Unfortunately ragweed season is here and that is not a good thing.

Sorry Paige, but I haven't been trained in doing restraints recently, so I can't do that. I'm waiting my required half hour after allergy shots, and them we're headed to the zoo. I sneezed a little while ago. You should have seen the people jump when I answered that I had just gotten shots. There was nothing else though. It's just cold here, and that will make me sneeze.

lol Paige you are talking to the wrong group if you want us to discourage you ;p I think we would all go with you instead

I rode my bike to work for the first time in nearly 2 months today. It felt great, however, I feel like I rode 50 miles instead of 4. Sheesh. My legs are tired. *sad face* It was also 75% humidity this morning so I am nice and drenched.

So, I am currently training Abbie to find things that people drop (we call them articles) - hats, shirts, etc. She hasn't completely put 2 and 2 together that I want her to show me where the article is yet. She will be running around sniffing out human scent then she will stop, like "WAIT! There's something here!" Until now, it has always been a live or dead person so she starts looking for that. When she puts her nose on the article where the scent is coming from I say "YES!" and she will run back to me and indicate. Well, on the "show me" she stands there like "show you what?" lol Totally not getting it. Last night, I made a stupid handler error and had the person whose (or is it whos) shirt was laying out come with me so I would know where it was (it was nearly dark and hard to see). Abbie found the shirt, then on the show me, she went to the person whose shirt it was instead of the shirt itself like "it's her shirt! Right here! Hey I found your shirt! bark bark bark!". The moral of this story is that dogs are smarter than humans.  ;p

ok I have to get my brain working because it is just not right now.

My mom just got a flat tire. She dropped me off at the office and was going to come back for me, then we were going to head to the zoo. Now I'm going to walk to STS, or at least try to get there. This could be a long walk.

So, I've been selling Pure Romance (its romance enhancement products, everything from bath and body stuff to "cook" with, wanted to put that out so no one Googles at work and gets a shock) for a few months now.... one of our "cooking utensils" is called the Cabana Boy.  Makes me laugh every time I see that term mentioned here.

    "cooking utensils"  *snorts*

Yeah Deb that was a stupid question. lol

Julie, lol at Abbie but yep, dogs are smart and they must think we're incredibly dense.  My brother taught one of his dogs to find articles and it came in handy since he was often losing his keys and wallet out in the field when dog training.  He'd go get Yella and she never failed to find whatever he'd lost.  Also lots of things he didn't know he'd lost. lol

Julie - I love your stories about your dogs!!

Count me in with the escape to a tropical island. Paradise

We actually had a little rain come through yesterday and cool things off. I think we'll be back up in the 90s but it was a nice change and seemed to clear the air.

Our Board mtg yesterday really went south and I felt terrible for my boss. They tend to come up with ideas that they can't clearly articulate. It's frustrating for all of us, especially after we put in a bunch of time trying to do what they want and find out it was for nothing. Super Angry

LOL I'm glad you appreciated my word choice Big Smile

Steph, your post was hilarious!  Not just your word choice, but the reference to someone googling Pure Romance at work and getting a shock.

Reminds me of the time I tried to look up the website of my favorite radio station while at work.  The station's call letters are KINK, believe it or not -- it's "adult alternative," somewhere between pop and rock music).  I forgot their website address ended with .FM, and I nearly had heart failure when I saw the home page of what I typed.  I was frantically trying to exit the screen before anyone walked in my office!  Indifferent

We're supposed to reach 90 today.  It's been warm all week, yet it's in the 50's at night.  We only have a light blanket on our bed, and we went to sleep with the window fan running -- I woke up freezing during the night!  Even Ruby felt it.  She was curled up in the tightest ball possible for a 55 pound dog, tucked in between our pillows, trying to get out of the draft of the fan!

I have a hair appointment after work.  My stylist wants to try some kind of treatment on my hair -- I think it's like a keratin or something.  The more common treatment is to make hair silky straight, but they have something new for curly hair that's supposed to calm the frizz without taking out all the curl.  He said he'd do the treatment on me for free if I was willing to be the guinea pig.  I told him I'm game, as long as he can promise me my hair won't fall out.  He's a friend, so I trust him.  I hope I don't regret it!

Tracy - I'm not sure but I thought I'd heard that there was some health concerns about those keratin treatments. I'm not sure how serious the risk is or if it's with all treatments but here's a link - http://www.webmd.com/healthy-beauty/features/keratin-hair-straightening-treatments
