So far, my plans for the long weekend involve cleaning the house and doing laundry after about 10 days of houseguests. I'm on my second load of sheets now, have already done the towels, but will then have to do the linens from our own bedroom and bathroom. I won't be doing any water conservation this weekend!
DH is spending the night at a friend's cabin near Mt. Hood, so it'll be me and Ruby on our own until he gets back tomorrow. Poor Ruby. She hates being away from her Dad, and I can't even come close to filling his shoes as far as she's concerned. She'll mope around while he's gone and/or climb the walls looking for attention while I'm doing housework. My friend and I are going to take her on a 2 mile walk in a little while.
Doug, it sounds like you have an amazing bounty from your garden. Do you grow heirloom tomatoes? We can get them here at the local farmer's market. Their flavor just about knocks you over compared to the usual store tomatoes. Their shapes and colors are incredible, too.
You gotta watch out for those "simple" home projects like removing carpet or adding tile. Next thing you know, you've decided the walls need painting, the old furniture doesn't match, etc. My friend's aunt described their full kitchen remodel in a Christmas letter by saying, "It all started because we needed to replace the microwave . . . "
Jackie, I love your new signature photo! So sweet!
