Update! :( My new pup - zatchbell322/Melinda

I talked to a really nice lady at the local humane society before we decided to keep her about bringing her in to their adoption program. We had a plan all worked out but then this crap happened. I am going to give her a call tomorrow and hopefully bring her in.

Just be sure you cover yourself. People are cray-cray these days and the last thing you want is a problem. Keep some city official type entity between you and them until all legal requirements for "owner surrender" are enacted. Jus' sayin'...

Ok will do. DH and I were thinking that - talking to the lady about maybe holding her for the allotted amount of time and then us adopting her from the shelter, so there would be legal paperwork involved.

That sounds like a good plan! Fingers crossed that all works out so she can come live with you.

Well after talking to the humane society welfare lady this morning , I offered to buy her from my neighbors. At first she said no, but then she just showed up at my door and said she realized that the pup likes us more and her friends dog is having puppy's and she wants one of those. I told her to use the money to buy the puppys its vaccines and she said she would. I had such a headache worrying about her all day. I hope she takes better care of the new puppy :/

I'm happy and sad.  Maybe she'll change her mind about getting another puppy.  We can only hope.

We can. I am glad I have this baby though, we missed her!

Glad this baby is getting a good home with you, and hopefully till the other puppies are ready, she will realize she doesn't really want that responsibility.

I'm with Gina on this one -- did you have her sign a Bill of Sale or something???  I can see it now -- the new puppy will ALSO be over at your house (cos they aren't gonna do a darned thing different).

I'd tell her -- "When I license her I want something written for her file, and the vet would like it as well ... mind signing this??"

That way when Puppy 2 decides also your home is better NO ONE can say "Well they stole the first dog from us, too!"

Hmm didn't really think about that. I took her into work with me on the 29th and registered her under my name and everything, the next day is when my neighbor took her. Then today when I got her back she also gave me all the paperwork. It's all under my name anyways so technically the neighbor didn't "own" her.

Awww she is so cute! So glad she is with you. :)

Maybe they don't know how to take care of her. They should have give her to the one who will take good care of her instead of letting her like that.

She is so sweet; I'm glad it all worked out.

This puppy is so lucky, to have you as her neighbor.  Clearly she knows where SHE wants to be, lol.  I am pleased it has worked out for all of you.

I pray that other person does not get a living pet again, not for a long time.   Or you could have a constant influx of newbies!  Ha ha

This is such a rollercoaster of a story. I was really excited for you as I started to read the thread and then I was really outraged that someone would treat that beautiful pup like that. I am glad she is back with you and people who obviously care about her. I do agree that you need to cover your back here which is a shame, because as far as I am concerned you are only doing the right thing. Well done to you and good luck.
