Mumblin' on a Monday

Aww, crap.  I'm sorry Julie.  Second opinion sounds like it would at least provide a little reassurance that you've got good information going into your decision.  I wish it had been a simple answer for you.  So, can't you go swimming if you have ear plugs in?  I mean, you gotta take a shower! Your ears are going to be exposed to water.  When my niece (who has tubes in) goes swimming, she always wears ear plugs.

Good thing is at least there's a solution, right?  Imagine if you COULD NOT do the tubes?

I am getting a bit anxious for this meeting - its about that contract and I was sent info about an hour ago that the person I thought was going to be there may not be but three others will be. Good Lord these people have communication issues!!!!!!!!

Wow Karen - it sounds like they need your help badly. I hope the meeting goes well.

I'm seriously becoming a sap in my old(er) age. When DH comes to pick Shane up from the office, he always looks at me like "do I have to go?" and it makes me sad. Unfortunately, he starts to get antsy in the afternoon plus I can't go to the gym and leave him here. I sure miss not having the fluffy guy around after he leaves though :(

The forum has been really quiet lately. Maybe I should start a thread about Romney's choice for a VP and what everyone thinks Stick out tongue

Yeah Cathy that'll shake things up :)  I will pass on that one.

I wish my boys could come to work with me but they work very hard at the house keeping their human Dad safe Wink

Cathy, please don't start a political thread, no matter how boring the forum is these days.  lol  I'm so sick of politics and all the BS spread by both parties.  I'll start a thread about some imaginary or hypothetical situation if that will make you happy.  Stick out tongue

Julie, that sucks about your ears.  Hope the tubes do the trick and you don't have permanent damage.

We're finally switched over to ATT for our work cell phones.   I am not sorry to be done with Sprint.  ATT had their share of problems during the transition so I don't really expect them to be that much better as far as customer service.  We do have much better coverage than with the Sprint phones which were pretty useless most of the time.   I do miss the direct connect Nextel phones but they're going the way of the dinosaur.

Gin, glad you had a little cool spell and enjoyed the casserole.

Ohhhhh . . .  owwwww . . . I need an emoticon thing-y showing a pained face with hands over its ears to demonstrate my sympathetic pain for you, Julie!  As others said, I've known several kids who've had tubes (including my friend's two children, who had them before they were a year old), and all had good results.  I've never known an adult who has had them, but if it's any consolation, I had my tonsils out at age 26, so there's hope for us "grown-ups" who have procedures more commonly done on children.   Joking aside -- a second opinion might be worth the time, but if they concur with the advice to have the tubes, I hope you can get them done ASAP so you can get some relief.  You poor thing!

This is the brief time of year when I can be grateful that I live in this climate versus where many of you live.  Yeah, we've had some hot temps in the past few days (92 yesterday, maybe 3 digits on Thursday), but no humidity.  We've yet to leave the A/C on during the night.  Fans in the windows work by the time we go to bed (it was 63 when I got up this AM).

Carpet installation began today.  We spent yesterday moving every stick of furniture out of the living, dining and master bedrooms.  Not fun.  I didn't think I had to take things off the walls, but apparently I should have.  The guy was in the house 5 minutes and knocked a sconce off the wall, shattering the glass globes.  The store where I bought them is out of business now, so who knows if I can replace them.  Grrrrrrrrr . . . this whole project has had glitches and headaches from the start!  Hopefully I'll forget all about them when everything is back in place and we're enjoying our mini-makeover!

LOL - I'm already sick of it all too but figured it would at least make some folks smile at the thought.

I don't think the gym's AC is able to keep up with the days of high temps and not cooling off at night. It's cooler than outside but not very cool when you're working out and I hate to sweat Ick!.

Here's something political that might make people laugh at Texas politics since mostly we want to cry about them.  Seems if we can't decide who won in a runoff or two we can just have the candidates roll the dice.Stick out tongue  http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/roll-dice-decides-city-council-election-texas/story?id=16558417

We have been having commercials since April or May - one after another after another - during the news (morning and night) and all through the Olympics. On the radio too - we are a significant swing state so it can only get worse Sad

Meeting went well - very different than I expected but then again not as nothing has been what I was told it would be. Best I'll say is, who knows?

You know the humidity dropped today and I think its fairly hot (mid 90's) but it feels pretty reasonable out there :)

    eta: Jackie that is hysterical.

Ouch Julie. A year or two ago, there was brief discussion of ear tubes for me. By brief, I mean really very brief. My one ear is constantly congested, but the doctor decided that this wasn't going to help. He had some sort of thing that measured pressure,  or something, that determined this wasn't going to solve the problem. That was some very scientific info right there. I wish I could actually remember what it was, but I don't.

Luke and I are heading out for a walk in a bit. We're picking up a friend, an acquaintance, I don't know to go with us. She couldn't find the park when she tried to go. I am friends with her on Facebook, which is how she contacted me. I haven't actually seen her since High School, unless we've passed each other in town or something. She actually works at one of the grocery stores, and I do shop there sometimes. I haven't even seen her there. Anyway, she was asking about the meetup group I am in, and she used to be in the other week,  so I said I could show her where the place is. She only lives a mile away, so it's not that big a deal. However, it does mean I'm not bringing Callie tonight, since I can't fit three dogs.

Wow. I don't think I could come up with a better way to tell the people their vote doesn't count. Then again, if the town actually has 10000, and only 222 showed up to vote, I guess most people just didn't care anyway.

Politics...bah humbug.  I am mildly interested, but not passionate like some people are.  Just like Christmas, 4 yrs seems to come faster all the time!

About finding someone to mow my lawn, I called my former Schwan's delivery guy (he lost his job when Schwan's decided to ditch this area).  Mike used have a landscaping company before Schwans, and he had called me months ago when he decided to try it again.  Well, he found a part time job with Cox Cable, but still will mow lawns, etc.  But he can't come until Fri or Sat...oh well, I'll take it.  I like him and trust him, but after all the rain we have had recently, he isn't going to have an easy time of it.  I can find some other things for him to do, as money allows.  Son just doesn't have time to do too much for me, so I hope this works out, as least for a little while.

I wish someone could wave a magic wand and make my back problems disappear.  It's hard not to be able to do the things you always used to do.

    • Gold Top Dog
I would buy that magic wand if it worked on other ailments! Heck, i would sell my soul for it ;p

    Noooooo to political threads. Ugh.
