You should have seen this! (kpwlee)

I have been wanting to take Bugsy kayaking but it wasn't looking very possible up until yesterday.

To make a long story (I'll write a blog post on it) shorter:

We went out on the lake today, I got him in the boat ON the water. He decided it was good. Then he decided he wanted to say hi to some other paddlers. This was not good.

He tried to stand up in the boat and wag his tail (<= making his whole 105lbs wiggle)

The boat got very unstable so he decided to jump off the side.

This capsized the boat sending he and I underwater. He continued to go say hi while I struggled to right the boat. (<=his lack of concern for his potentially drowning owner confirms he is not a newfie)

He did come back and check in while I was still hanging on to the boat and trying to ensure I hadn't lost any items in the water.

Anyway I got back in the boat and paddled to shore.

He was thrilled to be on land and working the audience that had gathered LOL

Just a day in the life with an oversized mutt

Oh my goodness, what a comedy team!  Glad you are fine, but the tone of your writing let me know right from the start all was well.  He heee, Mugsy is NOT a Newfi?  Ah gee, and I was thinking maybe . . . . .

I am just glad that I am silly enough to attempt these things with him. I totally knew how high the potential was that we would wind up out of the boat and was so impressed when he was sitting nicely while I paddled.

Hopefully he'll get back in the boat on the water

     Bugsy, you big goof!

I'm glad you're ok, Karen! Hopefully you were wearing a PFD.  Smile

That would be great - as it was he was sitting on my lap while I tried to navigate.

I could hardly see around him, not over him and my paddling style was mmmmm 'interesting'

I saw this one in REI - perhaps I could get him to go on there and I could tow him LOL

In all seriousness - trying to get a 105lb, 29 at the withers dog to share a kayak isn't an easy trick Stick out tongue

Other than a few moments of confusion before I figured out what "PFD" stood for, your story gave me a good laugh!  I can just imagine what that must've looked like to the other people floating nearby.  If someone caught it on video, it would be a major contender for a prize on America's Funniest Home Videos (or at least get a ton of views on YouTube).  It's just too darn funny!

You are courageous, Karen.  I'd be afraid I'd capsize by myself in a kayak -- nevermind with a 105 lb. exuberant passenger.  In case my confusion about PFD didn't give it away, I don't do any water-related activities!  Tongue Tied

Bugsy, you are my favorite 4-legged comedian!
