Overcast and gloomy here as well.  Rained most of yesterday, but did it take the humidity away?  Nooooo, it continues to act like we live in the deep South.

But, we'll be leaving in a few hours for Christophers premiere and I'm as excited as I can be about that.  He's not "mine" but I felt like we really got to know him and Jon when Mike died.  For many years the jerk worked very hard to keep the two families apart, to NOT let the second wife ever find out that I'm not the horrible fire breathing witch that he told her I was, and that she wasn't the bitter and hostile "new" wife who resented me, that I'd been told that she was.  It's a shame that we missed all those years of being a somewhat happy extended family and support system because of one idiotic jerk.  But, at least now we're able to know one another and start to grow as an extended family.  And, I'm really touched that we're invited to share in today.

I suppose I should probably pick the garden and get some stuff done so I can really enjoy today without niggling little "I should have done" thots in my mind.

Marty....(((((((hugs))))))) for yesterday and continued thots and prayers for a full and very speedy recovery.

    Have a great day all!

Heading to a magic show in a few minutes, then off to my sister's house.  She called yesterday and invited me to come pick up some books she found in the basement from my nieces.  She informed me she found 20 copy paper size boxes of easy reader and such books that I am more than welcome to.  Surprise  Ummm, how do you acquire that much stuff and not realize it.  I am shocked, but not because this isn't the first time with her.  I plan on keeping maybe a box and donating the rest to the library and/or school.

Shopping with my DH is like a slow form of torture so I feel your pain Karen. I'm sorry Bugsy isn't better and hope it's nothing serious.  Have fun Glenda and Lisa.

Hot and dry here.  We had a chance for a storm yesterday but it never got to our side of town and where it did hit there was no rain, just high winds.  A friend of mine in TN has had so much storm damage at her house that she's ready to move back to Texas.  I wish she would as I miss her a lot.

DH is steam cleaning the floor of his shower.  I'm off in a little while to see my cousin.

Twister is still having bowel incontinence from the surgery (if they are correct about the cause) and I'm just so discouraged that he's not over this yet.  He is peeing good and that's a good thing.   We see the oncologist again on Tuesday.  He feels good which makes the bowel problem even harder since he has to spend so much time in his crate that it's breaking my heart and his too.

It is rainy here too. And cold! I am ready to turn the heat on, it is so chilly. Odd to be wearing socks pants and sweatshirts in early august. The weather is fine for me today though as I don't plan on doing much. I think my ears are starting to drain a little less which makes me happy. Healing must be going on which means maybe I will get some hearing back soon.

It was such a relief to telework yesterday. I started using our network instant messenger to talk to people in the office which helps

I am dog sitting my brothers corgi. Now I remember why I said I would never dog sit this dog again. She barks non stop. No exaggeration. Non. Stop. This is the last time.

Thinking good thoughts for Marty's son and the rest of the family.

Jackie - I'm so sorry that Twister is still have poo problems. I know that must be miserable for you both. Hopefully the oncologist can shed some light on the reason and maybe offer a way to treat it.

Julie - ugh to barking dogs! Shane is the most barky dog I've ever had and sometimes it's hard to take. Fortunately, his bark fests don't last very long.

It's so freaking hot here. Even at 8:30 it felt too hot take Shane for a walk but I knew he needed some exercise, so I packed him up and we drove the a huge business park that's always shady. It's large enough to get a nice walk in and mostly shady. It also has a big water feature that gives off a cooling feeling. I was tempted to jump in Big Smile.

I stopped at the vet's office to get a weight on Shane and was pleasantly surprised that he's a couple lbs heavier than when we brought him home. I was worried that he'd lost weight.

I'm feeling envious of those who are having chilly weather this weekend. We have a few more days of 100+ temps :(

This is truly a beautiful day. Started at 50º F at 7am, now at noon is up to 70ºF. Sunny, with a gentle breeze. Wife just finished canning peaches and a peach/apple jelly that is fantastic. We will probably have to pick grapes tomorrow and make the worlds best tasting grape jam. Old Concord style grapes that came with the house. The are deep purple and sweet. I may have to tie Piper to the arbor to keep the birds away, though.

Piper continues to age gracefully. The drive to run she had when young has really slowed down. She enjoys her walks and runs in the field, but is content to walk at heel as long as there are no pheasants around. While it makes her easier to live with, it is sad to watch.

I know what you mean Doug :(.

I'm watching rythmic gymnastics - wow!! I don't have a fraction of the grace, flexibility and coordination these young ladies have. Also watched the women's mountain bike racing and again - wow!!

What is this "soggy" you speak of?  I think I vaguely remember soggy.  It's freakin' 104 today.  Stepping outside feels like sitting too close to a roaring fire. Max is even tired today.  When my friend came yesterday with her family, she brought her little JRT - cute little bugger, but very hyper and very, very barky. Max was so excited about having the pool full of people who would splash him (his most favorite thing) that he literally did not notice there was another dog in his yard, barking her little head off. When the day wound down and everyone (including dogs) were back inside, he was too tired to care.  He just plopped himself in front of the floor fan and went to sleep.

I have guacamole left over and need to think of something wonderful to do with it, besides just eating it out of the carton with a big spoon. Tongue Tied

I was feeling rather soggy today from the humidity, and then it rained.

I took Luke to the Loreal plant this morning to pick up our Your Dog is Worth it Too Day bag. We played Rescue Bingo. You get a card, and you have to go around to the rescue tents and collect stickers. You get a sticker for donating a dollar, then you redeem it for a prize. I got Luke a raised dish thing. I didn't really need any of the Loreal stuff you could redeem that for. My bag was a bit disappointing this year. I usually never buy shampoo, because I always get it in the bag. No shampoo this year, but I did get some anti-humidity hair spray, and I got kids' goggles in the bag for my niece. Other than that, nothing too exciting, but it is a nice bag. Luke had a good time.  He got lots of petting, and we saw his teacher from his CGC class. He loves (which might not even be a strong enough word) Amy. We may not make it to the big day next week, because Luke is going for heart and eye exams at the Cavalier show.

The house I worked at today, they had the thermostat set at 85. You may be from India, but this girl lives in a house where people get mad if she bumps it up to 75.

Tomorrow is Flyball practice, and one of my best friends is coming to check it out. I hope they like it, because it would be fun to have a friend to travel with when her dog is ready to compete.

I'm going to get Luke a weight pull harness, but I don't know what color to get him. His flyball harness is green/black, but I don't know about getting him the same color for his weight pull harness. I don't want it to look like I like the Eagles or anything. He'd probably look fine in any color, since he is mostly black. I don't usually do reds or oranges on him. I usually go with a green or blue (Luke Skywalker's lightsaber colors). His stuff collar and leash for therapy is black though, because I want it to be hard to find and blend in a lot so that people who might grab and hang on to anything will have trouble finding it. No solid black on this, I want it to look flashy. I think he's too small to really get fabric accents, though I do like a blue flame one on the website I'll probably get it from. Luke is going to be so very thrilled with this (thrilled to stand around in it looking cute, not thrilled to work in it).
