    Belize underwater

I was going to add to Janice's post but it was easier to create a new one. Here's some photos from snorkeling. Unfortunately, I don't have any from scuba diving - although I wish I did since 5 dolphins came up and interacted with us on my very first dive!! (sorry for those of you that have heard this story a million times already lol). We also saw huge spotted eagle rays, lots of sharks and many turtles.

We swam with Barracudas. You had to take all of your jewelry off so they wouldn't attack. Apparently they like shiny things.

    sad faced fish

It was like swimming in an aquarium

Our snorkeling guide joking around with a baby nurse shark

    Dori!

    A tailless ray

sharks and rays at "Mexican Rocks" snorkel spot. Our guide through chum in the water which caused a feeding frenzy of fish, sharks and rays. I did not feel comfortable at all as the rays were way too close to us. All they had to do was flip their tails and they would get us no problem. Not to mention there was a bull shark in the vicinity

    See the green Moray eel?

Here's some non-underwater photos. This is Belize City. It's quite scary

Our cave tubing tour - that was fun :)

    Inside the cave

The Mayan Ruins we visited. This is the ruin that is on their national beer

This is what the beach front looked like

    Ahhhhh!

    Our hotel garden

San Pedro, the town we stayed in on the island. Most people either walk, ride a bike or drive a golf cart around the island

    :)

Mods, feel free to merge this with Janice's thread if you want. My computer was going nuts dl'ing her photos making it difficult to post pics

Finally, I know! I've been so busy catching up with work, doing 26,984 loads of laundry, cleaning for 5 hours straight, and entertaining out-of-town guests. Whew.

View from the water taxi we had to take from Belize City to get to San Pedro, on Ambergris Caye. It wasn't really that dark, for some reason my camera was acting weird. Confused

The color of the water was amazing.

    Arriving at our hotel!

As soon as we walked into our room, a man knocked at our door saying, "welcome drink!" He had a little sheet of paper with a list of alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. We each got to pick one for free. I chose a yummy mojito.

    The view from our balcony.

The water trike that the bloody crazy blabbering Englishman from Oestin (how he pronounced Austin, TX) "stole" and picked us up in. Yeah… we've got some stories. lol (The little green thing on the seat is Flossy the Traveling Toothbrush. I took a bunch of photos of him and they'll go up on my employer's fb page {pediatric dentist}. Any employees who have gone on vacation have taken him with. Smile)

Our iguana (?) friend. He even climbed on the stucco of the side of the hotel.

I was walking on the balcony (2nd floor) heading into my room and I noticed a movement on the tile. I saw a tiny shell, not much bigger than the tile grout. I thought the wind had blown it. I picked it up and a teeny crab sucked himself inside the shell! He was so cute! I wanted to take him home with me. But I put him in a bottle cap and brought him down to the shore. I don't know how he got up there - hitched a ride on a shoe perhaps?

    :D

    :D

Shack "houses" on Caye Caulker, another island we went to visit for a day.

A cool sign on the beach at Caye Caulker.

    Shells on the beach.

A cute little doggie on the table at a beach vendor's.

    Swings at a bar.

We were sitting at a bar and suddenly all these fancy-pants women with sashes walked in. Turns out they were Miss Central America pageant contestants. lol Some drunk lady ran into the bathroom and got some toilet paper to wrap around herself like a sash.

    Aaaaahhhhh.

Our hotel - view from the beach.

We were at our favorite breakfast place, waiting for our smoothies, and this little crab crawled up from under the boards.

Candace painted our toes pretty! (Don't you love our sandal tans?)

Heather and her pretty necklace from Annie and the PapHaven Auction.

One of the many nommy drinks I consumed.

The bloody Englishman, blabbering on and on about how he was a vet and he's saved THOUSANDS!! More than anyone else in THE WOOOORLD!!!!! Yes, he was always drunk.

    Finally - a group shot!

Candace and the owner of a bar called Canuck's. She got to write her town on a map.

Shopping at one of the many beach vendor's.

They mainly use suped-up golf carts, bicycles, motorcycles, and mopeds for transportation.

Gotta keep the kids entertained while you're at the bar. Tongue Tied

Those were old buoys hanging from the ceiling. It looked really neat!

    Hotel TP. The end!

Cool pics!  Love the beer prayer!  LOL.

Did you have to ask the bartenders for the t.p. when you needed to use the bathrooms? When I was in the Navy, many bars in France, Spain, and Israel didn't put t.p. in the bathrooms - we had to ask for it. And frequently, it resembled waxed paper more than it did t.p.  Indifferent

No, the only place we had to do that was at the water taxi terminal in Belize City.  Apparently Americans "use too much tp!" so we had to grab pre-measured little stacks from outside the bathroom.

Janice, I can't believe you got pics of the crazy Englishman.  Awesome.  "Look out ladies, there's shaaahks in the watah!"

Great shots, every single one!  That was so much fun looking through these pictures.  It just tickles me that you guys made this trip.  Couldn't have been more perfect timing too...Ernesto is about to pummel Belize this week!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yay! I'm glad you posted yours too. :D

I hope your ears are feeling better. :(

Yes, I've seen enough sharks, stingrays, barracudas, and eels for a lifetime thankyouverymuch!

I loved Dori. Although I had to keep re-introducing myself...

Love the pictures!! I'd seen some on FB but I could look at them all day and never get bored. Even though I didn't go, it feels like "our family" had a great time together and that's just awesome!!

Love the underwater pics too. Did you buy a new camera Julie or use one of the disposable types? You got some good shots. I love snorkeling!!

Thanks for sharing. Just love looking at photos. Since I don't always keep up and catch everything here, wondering what this is all about....did a few of you from the board just decide on a trip and meet each other there?
