It is so very nice not to have to use the AC in the car.

I can't believe how unusually cool it has been all week.  I haven't had to turn on a fan for three days.  It's supposed to be back up in the high 90s or maybe even 100 by Sunday.

On the weather report last night they showed a map of the U.S. and had all the states suffering a drought colored in red, and of course CA was one of them.  I thought we got plenty of rain last fall through spring, and since it usually doesn't rain in the summer here anyway, I don't know why anyone thinks we're having a drought. Now if we don't get much rain between October and April, I'll agree we're having one. Things are dry, but that's pretty much the norm for mid summer here.

The step DGS decided he wants to have a going away party at my house in August (he's going in the Navy) so I hope he lets me know what he wants in terms of food/drinks etc. and doesn't expect the food fairy to just show up with loaded trays. I see a trip to Wally and Costco in the near future. Smile

I would love the rain and wouldnt mind frizzy hair at all......   I want to drive with no A/C in the car......  I want to start making AppleButter in the kitchen without it being 110 degrees.   Storm

Rocky has been on the job lately...he is keeping the goats next door in their own yard and out of his.  He herded a cow out of the yard this morning and ran him/her back to their own pasture.   And the" I dont like that watermelon dog "  has decided that he does like watermelon when Seffie the donkey is getting watermelon at the fence. Rock was going nuts and charging the fence when I fed Seffie rinds...Seffie's human said well Rocky thinks Seffie is getting something he is not.   He said "You always share with him and Hot but when you feed Seffie you are not sharing"  I told him Rock didnt like watermelon cause we have tried to give it to him.  BTW: Shadow loved watermelon and Hot does not even like it one bit.  Well, the experiment shows that Rock is not a watermelon eater, but only the meaty slivers Ron leaves in the bag and only when we are out at the fence feedint the donkey, lol!  Confused  It is pretty funny, Rock sits by me and gets the small juicy tidbits and Seffie the donkey get the rinds with just a bit of juicy meat left on it cause Ron is a softie and he is the one that prepares the melons.  Yesterday they all had a yellow meated melon.  Very sweet and very juicy.

    Gotta run..have a great, rainy day :)

No rain tonight, lovely lower temps. A good time was had by all.

This is the chicken I made. I think I cooked 5 chicken breasts like this, since I was cooking to have leftovers. We ate 4 between 3 of us and an 18 month old. I also made some extra grilled chicken. I figured I could just eat that, or make some chicken ceasar salad. I figured I might as well make extra if I was going to be cooking. I couldn't get all the chicken on at once, so one or two skewers would come off at a time, and we'd all grab a few pieces off it. So, it didn't feel like you were eating a ton because you only at a few bits at a time.

I also grilled some corn, which was good the parts that cooked, but I was cooking on a charcoal grill, not even heat, you know how it works. We had to take it off, eat half, then flip it and put it back in. We had potatoes and onions too. Okay, my niece (the 18 month old) and I had potatoes and onions, everyone else ate just the potatoes I think. Then, we used the last bit of heat off the grill to cook some marshmallows for smores. If you're going to give an 18 month old a cooked marshmallow, make sure someone else has to clean that up.

Jen, the best way to do corn on the grill is to loosen the husk just enough to get the corn silk out, then return the husk and either tie it up with string or a piece of husk, stick it in a sink of cold water for a bit so the husks don't catch fire, and then plop them on the grill and turn them over a few times during cooking.  I do all sorts of veggies in foil packets with a tiny bit of butter or a drizzle of evoo.

    Your kabobs sound yummy.
