Sunday Chatting

    Sunday Chatting

DH and I went to bed waaaay too late - like 2:30 am late last night.  What were we doing you ask, watching that Pawn Shop show set in Detroit.  I had never really seen it before.  What a hoot!  It's hard to believe people that both that stupid and that insane.  It was funny to watch, but couldn't imagine watching it all the time.  My brain actually hurt when we stumbled into bed.  Also, seeing what other crap shows people watch on that channel (TRU TV)....frankly, I am embarrassed to be a human being if this is what we have resorted to for entertainment.  So sad.

So annoyed with my sister.  She asked to me to potentially take her to a party today since her and her BF's car is in the shop and not sure if she will have a ride.  So I say sure, let me know.  It's quite a ways away, but it's a going away party for her Godson who's going into the military tomorrow and I know she doesn't want to miss it.  Anyway, never hear back from her - they are late like 2:00 pm sleepers so I won't hear back for awhile - so I have no idea on time, how long, etc.  URGHHHH!  DH gets so pissed when my family does this, but what am I supposed to do, not drive her and then she misses him going into the Navy.

Other than that, not much going on!

Cathy congrats on you and shane passing! Even though you don't plan to do off leash stuff, imo off leash stuff is critical because accidents happen. Dogs get out, you accidently drop the leash etc. It is good to have those skills in place.

Not much going on here this morning except for catching up on the tdf. The ground is wet from rain last night. Finally. Hopefully some of the rain soaks in and doesn't run off due to the ground being hard as concrete.

I was so tired last night it was hard to fall asleep. My legs had that over worked tingly feeling. They feel good today though. Now the sunburn is the only thing bothering me. I have been slapping the aloe on regularly.

I am very tempted to go out for breakfast. The poor dogs really need some good off leash time. Maybe I will take them over to the play ground before it gets too hot.

I have to agree with Julie.  Both on the congrats and the off leash work.  It can really be a lifesaver.

Thankfully, it's gloomy and overcast here again.  No rain forecast until Wed even tho we really need it badly, but at least the cloud cover makes it feel cooler.  Wed is supposed to be in the 70's, but until then, we'll suffer.

Thanks you guys and you're right, so maybe I will take the class. He's the least likely of any dog I've had to bolt but still, you never know. We have to come up with a good recall word. Any suggestions?

I slept really well last night, so why am I still soooo sleepy?

God have mercy on the CVS pharmacy staff this morning.  I picked up one of Riley's meds yesterday and this morning went to do the weekly dispencer thing and realized they gave me the wrong pills.  I am beyond furious.  If I wasn't paying attention (the only difference is the printed number on the pill) I would have given my daughter heart medication.

I stormed up there at 9:30 only to find out they weren't open yet.  God help the person I see first.  I know mistakes happen, but when mistakes that could permanently do harm to my little one - this is one momma bear that is going to go nuts.

Cathy, no matter how well trained or docile they are, under it all, they are still dogs.

You go Lisa.  These people are trained NOT to make mistakes and grabbing the wrong bottle to dispense just isn't acceptable.  It could seriously hurt someone.

Oh my. Thank god you caught that!! I had rite aid do that to me. I can't remember what it was they gave me but it made me sick. When I figured it out I called up there and let them have it. The manager was like yeah, whatever. We're sorry. Like it was no big deal. I refuse to go to rite aid anymore. I think cvs is very similar. Their people are so over worked. They need to staff more pharmacists and techs for the work load that they have. I took the dogs to the playground and tossed the frisbee around. It is 80 already here and sunny so they didn't last very long. They laid in the pools when we got back and now all 3 are happy and relaxing in the ac. Hopefully the peace and quiet will last more than an hr

Cathy, I use a really loud sarcastic "BYE!" For abbies emergency recall. For calls when I just want her near me, I use "here"

Kick some butt Lisa! And write to CVS via email and to the pharm & store manager. It's unlikely the person there on Sunday morning is going to able to do much other than apologize and give you the right meds.

Cathy it's totally boring but 'here' has been our most successful recall word

I know I've mentioned it before but the driving here is just horrific! Yet another person driving the wrong way on a highway exit ramp leaves two dead. This seems to be occurring weekly, throw in the young drivers wrapping themselves around trees, bicyclists being killed, it is insane. Every day the paper highlights several horrific accidents, I really have never lived anywhere else that had so many careless fatal accidents.

I've been very lazy this morning, I am not motivated to clean or do exercise but I need to do both.

Today's Bugsy funny..... He was ultra devilish this morning and driving us nuts. He'd had a couple of timeouts (on his bed for a few minutes) but was still looking for trouble. Then he spotted a rabbit, went on point and just stayed there for nearly 20 minutes. That effort seemed to take the wind out of his mischief-filled sails :)

oh my gosh Lisa, I'd be raging mad too and agree about bumping it up to a higher level. I'm so glad you caught it before any harm was done.

Karen - that's funny about Bugsy tiring out from holding his stalking pose for so long. As for bad drivers and deadly accidents, we sure seem to have quite a few here too. When I'm on the road and see how people drive, I'm surprised there aren't way more though.

I guess I should workout now too. I'm really not in the mood but I'll beat myself up about it all day if I skip it.

Cathy,I use their name followed by come 99.9% of the time but my emergency recall is TREATS!, it never fails.Lisa I would be filing some sort of complaint. There must be an outside organization that oversees that. It's going to be a hot humid one again.I'm going to make a big cucumber salad today, that's all I feel like eating.I also need to go shopping for athletic shoes mine are all falling apart. It's always tough to find wide shoes with good arch support that don't look hideous or cost $140.00 so it's going to take awhile.Have a great day everyone!

Well, I got back a little bit ago.  I will say they were as horrified as I was.  When I picked it up yesterday, none of the regular people were working - I didn't recognize anyone.  I am pretty familiar with them since they do some fancy insurance magic for her one set of meds and they all know us.  When I inquired with "hey where is everyone" they said they were all on vacation and they had a replacement crew in.

Well, the pharmacist had me fill out a store/pharmacy complaint and highly encouraged me to file a corporate and state complaint.  Like you said Glenda, he said its their job to not make mistakes - ever!  He was pissed - probably especially since it happened in his store and with a visiting crew.

Kate (Frisby) sent me the corporate stuff and I took a zillion pics for "proof" - thanks so much Kate!. Getting all my documentation together today.

My recall word for Callie, and I scream this in a panicked tone, "Get your ass over here." It works very well. She once jumped out to the ring at a Flyball demo. I screamed that, and she came right back into the ring. I never thought she'd be one to go, and I think if she did, she'd just go to the car, or to a crate if it's out (and I think that's where she was heading) but if I yell that, she turns right around and comes barreling back (and usually bouncing into my face). For Luke, I just shout his name, and sometimes "get yer ball" if I have one for him. He's actually not as good. But, he is used to me screaming his name in the same sort of tone that I yell for Callie. It honestly sounds like they're in big trouble, but, when you're a Flyball tournament/Barkfest, that's how you have to yell for them to hear you.

I went out to the deck to help my mom power wash it, but didn't get too far. I got out there, saw bees, and turned right back around.

We've trained come and Shane is really good with it too. This is truly the emergency recall training (omg - I must chase that squirrel!!!), so I need a special word. "Here" might be what I choose. It's easy enough to remember and something I wouldn't be embarrassed to have the neighbors hear me yell. Treats would be good but I use the word too often in other contexts. We're supposed to bring somethig like roast beef or the like for this training. I read early on that when training "come" always, always, always have a treat ready when you use the cue and I have done just that. I think that's why he's done so well with it. Shane will be in heaven to find that coming when called gets him something even yummier.

I got the probiotics in the mail yesterday, so fingers and toes are crossed that this well help with the loose stools.

Lisa, I'm so glad you noticed the mistake with the meds.  There's no excuse for that.

I've always used the word 'here'.  It sounds a lot like 'heel' and the physical position you're asking for is pretty much the same.  It also makes it no big deal if I say heel instead of here or the other way around.

We havent made it to the dog show and probably won't at this point.  A friend wanted to go this morning but I had other things I needed to do and now I just don't feel like going.  Weird because I rarely miss a dog show.  I'm in cleaning mode and don't want to quit.  Just taking a break for something to eat.
