    Just another Saturday thread

6 hrs is not enough sleep and my coffee has too much sugar in it. those are my complaints for the day. *yawn* Have a good day all

I agree, six hours is not enough sleep.  I'm glad I got more than that last night.

We're tackling sorting and purging of the walk in closet in the spare bedroom this morning.  After that we're heading to a big dog show. Big Smile I hope I can find some of my favorite crate pads at a good price.

Have fun at the dog show!

I could have gotten another half hour of sleep. My cycling partner in crime is late!

More sleep would have been nice, yes.

I told the boss I'd go to a big Church carnival today and get some pictures so need to get myself awake enough to do that.

It's really cloudy and very dreary here today, but, so far no horrible heat, so I'll take it.  Has spit a little rain, but not enough to matter.  So long as the heat doesn't pop up, I don't care today!

I'm going to work early today. I don't really want to go at all, so I suppose going early is better, so it'll be done early.

DH got up about 5 and took Shane for a walk and then came home and loaded up and just left for a bike ride down at the river. That gave me some extra time to sleep in which was nice.

Jackie - what type of crate pad do you like? Are they washable? I've just been putting a rug down in Shane's crate because when he eats his kong in there, it's pretty messy.

Today is graduation day for level 2 obedience and I'm not sure what all well be tested on, so I hope we pass. Shane does really good with heeling but we haven't practiced heeling around obstacles too much, so that might be tricky.

It's actually chilly this morning but at least it's not windy. They still haven't gotten a handle on the fire buring nearby but hopefully will this weekend.

6 hours of sleep is alot of me LOL  I usually average 4.5 to 5

Already up and back from visiting the fruit market and to see my parents.  I went upstairs for about 10 seconds and returned back to the kitchen only to find my mom dishing out choclate ice cream for Riley.  Seriously mom, its like 9:30 this morning. She gave me the stink eye which basically says, "shut up, no rules at Nana's". LMAO

Off to the outdoor mall to let Riley have a run at the fountains after lunch. Wheee

I am at the public library in the AC grading papers. I will finish these today...because another batch just came in. Sigh.

It is toooooo darned hot.  Clouds, gloom, etc, all gone and blistering sun and sultry heat.  Lots and lots of fun when one is outside taking pictures........

The garden needs picking.  Maybe I'll turn the sprinkler on to keep me cool while I pick.....

Cathy, I buy the type that has a slick material so hair doesn't stick or get woven into the fabric. The ones at the dog shows come in pretty patterns and colors.  The whole pad is washable.  They aren't very thick, only about two inches, but I usually put two or three in the big dog crates.  Luckily my dogs don't chew on their crate bedding.  Gabby finally outgrew that so she gets comfy pads too.  I'll try and find an example and post a link.  I always stock up at the dog shows as I rarely see them for sale anywhere else and they're reasonably priced.

Lisa, I think chocolate ice cream at 9:30 AM is a great idea but I'm grandma age. lol  I do understand that it's not a great idea but hey it's grandma rules. :)  Have fun at the fountains.

I cannot believe how much crap was in the walk in closet.  Seriously, it's ridiculous.  I'm exhausted and barely half done sorting.  DH has so much computer stuff pulled out to sort through it will take days.  He didn't even know he had most of it and has put quite a bit in the Goodwill pile.  The house is a wreck with piles of stuff everywhere.  I need to keep at it because I can't live with all this mess.  DH is napping. lol  I'm sure the stress of cleaning out his hoard pushed him into emotional overload or something. I should take half the boxes of computer stuff to Goodwill while he's asleep. Devil Bet he'll never miss it.  I have to confess that I had a lot of stuff hoarded too but I can easily get rid of most of it without any regrets. My excuse is that I couldn't get to it to clean it out due to DH's stuff.  lol

Didn't end up going to the fountains but stayed home and played in the pool all day.  It was wonderful!  What a great day today.  I bought a couple of mammoth T-Bone steaks at the market this morning and my mouth is watering just thinking about them.

    • Gold Top Dog
    Mmm steak.

Jackie, I laughed at the cleaning/sorting induced nap by your dh. I can fully understand! I think I know the beds you are talking about. They sell them here at the dog shows too. I have yet to buy one though, I am so cheap. Right now my crate pads are those foam pad things that you put down for kids to play on. You know those multi colored ones that link together?

I forgot sunscreen on mu bike trip today so now I am burned all to heck because the sun was scorching hot today. This will add to my beautiful farmers tan that I have going ;p

The ride went well except for the last 5 miles. Then I wanted to have a mental meltdown becuase the hills just wouldn't quit lol I felt like such a baby. It's! Good thing nobody but me could hear the whining and self pity going on in my head LOL I would have been thrown in the loony bin. That was the longest I have ridden in 5 yrs. I am feeling pretty good. I prob won't be able to walk tomorrow but thats ok. I can marathon breaking bad in preparation for the new season starting!

Jackie - Those pads sound perfect. Hoping to see a link soon :)

I laughed about the clean out too. I purged some stuff out of our office the other day and there was a computer program that I set aside to donate. I mentioned it to DH and said "it's obsolete - no one uses it anymore" and his answer was "but it was expensive". Well, yeah, 10 yrs ago it was but now it's junk.

We graduated from level 2 of obedience trng. We could take a recall class but since I don't do anything off leash with Shane, I'm not sure I will. The CGC class doesn't start again for a few weeks, so we've got a break. After that, she'll hold her therapy dog class and that's the one I'm really anxious for. Shane had a ton of energy and had fun playing with Hayley. At one point the were running and Shane was trying to dodge around her and wrapped his body around a post. We all thought he hurt himself but he just jumped up and went on with his playing *whew*. We had to do off-leash heeling as part of the test and not only did Shane do it perfectly, when Hayley and her owner were doing their test, Shane heeled on the other side. It was so funny to watch.

In case you didn't know, Oxy Clean spot treatment gel stick does not clean up well when the top breaks and it dumps all over the floor.

As if that wasn't enough, there was a piece of galvanized aluminum the size of a nail that was cut off the ductwork when my furnace was installed. Apparently it worked its way between a couple of old floorboards, and I dislodged it during the Oxy Clean gel cleanup. The bad news is I didn't realize it until I stepped on it barefoot. Who knew a small puncture in the bottom of one's foot would bleed so much? My last tetanus shot was 10 years ago. I hope it's still effective. Tongue Tied

Julie, I would have been whining and crying long before you.  I'm in awe of your grit. :)

Cathy, I didn't spend a ton of time looking for those pads but found nothing in my brief search.  I'll take a picture when and if we go to the dog show or take a pic of one of mine.  We didn't make it today but I'm really hoping tomorrow works out.  Congrats to you and Shane on graduating your obed class. :)

I spent too much time talking on the phone to two friends.  It was a nice break from the great closet purge.

It looks like it's going to storm again.  DH better mow the grass soon or he'll be sorry as it's already long and thick.  Amazing to see our grass like this in July.

Tina, nice to see you on the weekend but so sorry about your foot and the failed spill clean up. :(  I don't know how long tetanus shots are good for but I seem to remember they last a long time.

I lost a lot of time today looking through old pictures.  I culled some but most I sorted and kept.  When my brother visits it'll be fun to look through them.  I've got so many slides and no way to view them.  I'll have to get a slide viewer on ebay and maybe consider having some of them converted to digital.

I'm ready for an adult beverage. :)
