    Thursday talking

    TGIAF (almost Friday)

    That is all.

    • Gold Top Dog

Off in a bit to take Sinbad to his acupuncture vet. Then, back to grading papers and projects.

    Happy almost Friday, all!

    • Gold Top Dog

I took today off - woohoo! I wish it was Friday though.

103 forecast for today but then we'll cool down into the 90s in the next few days. It's probably as nice as it's going to be right now, so I think I'll get moving and take Shane for a walk.

Too early and not enough coffee to think of anything worthwhile to add.....Sleep

I'm going to go over to get my allergy shots after Live. I want to see who wins the Coast to Coast Cohost search. One of my favorite Youtubers (Michael Buckley) is in it, along with a woman who subs on the local radio station sometimes (Dena Blizzard). I hope they both get on. So, once I see if they're on, I'm going to get my shots, and I think I'll also go get a hair cut. I've needed it for a bit. I was going to go last week, but it was too hot. I figured I'd be sweaty right away, and my hair would just go crazy. No reason to pay and have look nice for it to go crazy right away. I think I'll go by the Farmer's Market for lunch, but I don't know what I want yet.

Why must they wait till the end to announce the winners?

Darn oops message. Hopefully it's cleared up now.

Tracy, you'll be happy to learn I bought the B&J Raspberry Chocolate Chunk Greek yogurt and I thought it was yummy. Nevermind the 25% saturated fat per serving. Indifferent

Yikes!  I figured it was bad -- I suppose the calcium and other "beneficial" things in Greek yogurt make up for that percentage.  Why do things that taste so good have to be so bad for you?  Oh well, I'm glad you liked it!

A decorating dilemma in our household:  we're finally replacing our filthy, worn out carpeting.  We've decided on a "style" (a very low pile cut and loop -- kind of a cross between a Berber and commercial carpeting), we cannot decide on a color.  We have two needs that seem to be opposed to one another.  We want something dark enough to hide dirt and pawprints (we try to wipe Ruby's paws when she comes in from the backyard, but with a climate that's wet 8-9 months a year, muddy paws are a fact of life).  However, we want something light enough so the rooms don't look dark (again, said climate means very grey skies and less natural light in the house).  We got 6 sample pieces, decided on one, but now are second-guessing it and ordered 5 more sample pieces.  We have to live with this for several years, and it's a big expense, so I'm afraid to choose the wrong thing!  I know it's not a crisis, but it's a stress for me.

Back to the pile of work on my desk.  I need some motivation.

I guess others are getting the "oops" msg too and that's why no one has been posting.

A new fire is burning less than an hour from here and the sky is grayish and the air smells like smoke. The wind is picking up too, so I hope they get a handle on this soon. DH is working, so there's a chance he'll be sent to help with this one.

In other news, Shane still has runny poop. I haven't heard from the cardiologist and am trying to just not worry about it too much. I have my hopes pinned on some probiotics I ordered. The reviews were really good, so I hope they do the trick.

I wondered what was up. I was out running around, checking from my phone, and wondering where everyone went today.

    Feel better Shane.

I'm so ready for this week to be over.  Monday the power went out about 10:30 a.m. and PG&E trucks were on the street all afternoon and well into the night.  They got it back on about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, and then turned it off yesterday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. so they could permanently fix the problem.  Yesterday it was about 106 so that was not a good day to be without power.  Poor Max is used to finding a ceiling fan or floor fan running, so he couldn't figure out what to do with himself. The real aggravation for me in a power outage is that I have the phone bundled with cable & internet, and whatever takes out the internet takes out the phone. Sad AT&T uses phone wires for their internet so peeps that have them are OK phonewise, but Comcast uses computer wires for their phones.  I keep planning to switch  the phone, but then I forget until the next outage.

Lisa, re. the Disney discussion.  Disneyland and Disneyworld are pretty much one like another.  If you've seen one you've seen 'em both. However, Universal Studios in Orlando is well worth the trip by itself and it's a short drive to Cocoa Beach so there's someplace to go on alternate days to get out of the"bustle" of a tourist attraction.  Epcot is pretty cool, too.

Going out with my BFF tonight for dinner.  Say what you will about Olive Garden, but I like their salad and I am all about that tonight.

Just started reading the series by Vince Flynn - political thrillers.  If the series is anything like the book Term Limits I am going to love it!

Worked from home most of the day today since I had meetings on the east side.  Other than that not much else going on.

I'm not sayin' anything about Olive Garden. I love those breadsticks (and I like some of the soups, and I like that salad). I go a few times every time they have the never ending pasta bowl.

Tracy, a tip on carpet, when looking at them take them outside to look at them you will be surprised in the color difference.  I was told that by a clerk in the carpet store when I bought my carpet awhile back, I did what he told me on one I had decided on and when I took it outside I did not like the color, it was a dark green and outside it had an odd tint to it.

Taking my family to Olive Garden tonight, as a matter of fact.  In this weird town, that's about as good as it gets...

Tracy - I have carpeting that is like you describe in terms of pile and love it. It's a little lighter than I might choose again but because it's got the variations of specks of color, it's been very forgiving, even with dogs. I'd say it's sort of a light oatmeal color. We had it installed when we bought the house in 2001, so it's held up really well. If I were to replace it now, I think I'd go with either tile or hardwood.

Speaking of - Jackie, did you ever get your tile?
