the start of a new week chat

Here we go again. Is everyone ready? I am covered in mosquito bites and they are soooo itchy! My legs have that good achy feeling going on. My house guest burned through 6 kcups in 2 days and didn't tell me she used the last one! Good thing I had a feeling and bought some last night or Iwould be cursing her this morning. Kcups are not the thing if you drink more than 1 cup of coffee per day imo. Way too expensive. I could totally go back to sleep for a few hours. Today is meeting hell day which makes it that much worse. I would rather be omw to the UP. Oh, my house temp is 73 degrees......let's hear the colllective sigh if pleasure. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Perfect sleeping weather and no ac needed. *happiness*

I hear you Julie!  Yeah for lower temps and no A/C.  Amazing how my headaches went away as soon as the temp dropped a little.  It's amazing how cool 87 degrees feels when you are used to 100.

Tons of meetings here too and so very tired.  I need to get to sleep before midnight on work nights!

So true! I've heard there are refillable ones, but I need a pot of coffee at a time, so I don't think even those would work for me!  I hope the mosquito bites heal quickly.

The temps are better here, too. Thank goodness! I have a ton of papers to grade today here at thome, and then it's in to the office tomorrow.

Off to get the day going.

The kcups would be nice for maybe a flavored coffee that no one but me likes, but, we have a commercial style Bunn and even that doesn't always keep up with us in the morning!  And first thing?  It takes TWO agonizing minutes to deliver that first pot!

I think I've been feeding the skeeters so long in the garden that I've become immune to noticing them.  I swear that they see me as the all-you-can-eat buffet and start clanging the dinner bell the minute I start down the hill to the garden.

It was cool enough yesterday that I got the corn weeded.  Mind, that's only a small section of the garden overall, but at least its a good start.  If the weather stays as predicted this week, I might be able to do more in the evenings and get it caught up.  Has either been too darned hot or too wet to get out there much the past few weeks and the weeds come up FAST.

Suppose I should get ready to start the week.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Well damn, I forgot to pack a regular bra in my backpack this morning so I have to wear my black sports bra all day under my work clothes. My shirt today has a very wide neck and plunges in the front (not indecent but plungy enough!) so you can clearly see my sports bra...not to mention the uniboob it creates. I hate uniboobs.

dang it they lied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They kept saying we were going to be 90* today and then drop to 80* tomorrow. Ha! 98* today (which is a significant improvement from yesterday's 106*) but still! I am still hoping that tomorrow will be the 86-88 they are predicting - that would be a lovely 20* drop.

It was social hour out in the 'hood today. So fun to see so many friends and dogs out and about - I suppose that is part of why B loves his walks

I have a variety of goals set for this week, I think they are all realistic more importantly I hope they achieve what I hope they will

I don't even know if we have a coffee machine in my house. We did have one at one point, but who knows if we do currently. That's how much coffee we drink.

The heat wave has broken here. It'll only get to 88 (and feel like 92). It's only 74 at 8:30, as opposed to the 10 hotter it has been at this time.  It's supposed to stay in the 80s for the rest of the week. Yay!

Lisa, I didn't see your offer from Friday - no computer access at home - but thanks! It really cooled down here Friday night/early Saturday and was quite manageable the rest of the weekend. I lived in Norfolk-Virginia Beach for eight years, so I'm not a total stranger to heat and humidity.

I was sad to learn yesterday that a friend's Lab who tangled with a porcupine on Saturday had to be euthanized. I didn't see the dog, but apparently its whole face and throat was so full of quills there was little chance of safely removing them all. Even anesthesia was a risk because the dog was epileptic. Crying Run free, silly Lab doggie.

I'm up to my eyeballs in Amex, so I'd best attack it.

My friend has a Keurig b/c one of her students works for them and would bring cases of k-cups.  Now she's addicted, so even though she goes through at least 2 cups a day, and I go thru the same on the weekends, she keeps the Keurig.  I think it's b/c when you make a pot you waste coffee that doesn't get consumed.  Who wants to make a 2-cup pot of coffee?

I make 1/2 of a pot every day since DH doesn't drink any. On work days, I drink one large mug here and take a travel mug with me. It works out perfectly.

Even after the meds, Shane's still got runny poop so I'm cooking some white rice and will add it to some ground turkey for a few meals. Hopefully that'll get him on track. If not, I'll have to get him a vet visit. I just had him in last month for the same thing and everything looked fine. They sold me some expensive probiotics that didn't do a thing, so I won't do that again.

I'm so not in the mood to go to work. Our mornings are so gorgeous but we getting hot later in the day. I think we'll be 100ish the rest of the week :(.

     lol Julie!

Monday... ugh. That's all I've got.

ETA: No! Wait! I've got more! Only TWO WEEKS until I leave for Belize! eeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!  *boing boing boing*

    * boings along with Jan!*

Has anyone ever ran a kcup thru twice? I have done it and the coffee turned out just fine. I ran it right after the first cup though so it wasn't like the grounds sat there for a while first. Anyway, i have thought about buying one of those refillable thingys but haven't done it yet.

This staff meeting is freaking killing me today. Seriously, I want to poke my eye out, it would be less painful. We have been in there for 1.5 hrs and are only half way thru the agenda. Then after that we have a 90 min technical session. Ugh!

Tina, sorry to hear about your friend's Lab.  :(

We won't have a cool down until around the end of September.  lol

We had a little rain shower this morning.  Not enough to do much good but every drop helps.

Three dogs are boring holes in my yogurt cup.  lol

My coworker brought the head of a barracuda he caught in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.  Huge fish that measured over 5' long and the teeth are wicked looking.  It was eating the kingfish off their hooks.  A good reminder of why you don't want to trail your hand over the side of the boat. lol

Just watched Karen's video on Facebook and made me totally ball...but thank you Karen.  Seriously, makes me stop and think about how lucky we are to have a little girl that is free from all that stuf and can run and jump and play.  It's also very motivating on Monday when you just want to lay around.

Waiting in a conference room for my 10:00 am meeting - its about 50/50 if she will show.

DH and I were talking about the whole Disney thing last night and making plans.  We talked about how there is so much pressure to take Riley there.  Not really from our family, but honestly from society.  Everyone asks - have you gone to Disney yet?  Like we are somehow subpar parents if we don't.  I know we aren't but it is annoying.  Now, out of principle he's rethinking it.  We are planning several vacation to amusement parks over the next two years (King's Island and a couple of Cedar Point trips).  But somehow we feel we are cheating her by not taking her to Disney World.  Definitely something we need to get over, but it's weird how it all works.

    Ooops, 10:00 am is here

I found mine was watery.  But I'm willing to give it another try.  lol

Feeling bad for my friend whose fiance is acting like it's no big deal that today is her birthday.  You'd think maybe he's going to surprise her with something and is deliberately acting this way.  But he's not.  She's already sad and down that her mom and sister are caught up in their own stuff so they're not really celebrating with her.  She gets married next month and I think she needs a non-wedding happy day.  If I didn't have class tonight, I'd go take her out.  I hope she has a good day.

I think all of my best friends are Cancers, oddly enough.
