What dishes did your aunt make? (We love stuffies and chowder (a.k.a. chowda) here.)

Chowda! Living way out here, I don't get see my cousins in RI much - it's been about 4 years since we were last together (they live in Portsmouth). My Mom still has a slight accent (she was raised near Fall River, MA, so dropped R's are very comforting to me!
I was too young to show much interest in what my aunt was doing in the kitchen -- I just remember the table full of platters and bowls whenever we gathered for BBQs, Thanksgiving or Easter dinner, etc. I do remember everyone loving something with quahogs that involved lots of batter (and I think was fried). Would that be stuffies? I'll have to ask my mother next time I talk to her. The other thing I remember was all the quahog shells that were in their yard (thanks to my cousin's job). Broken pieces were spread in flower beds as I recall, and we also used to paint designs on the whole shells. Upturned ones were around the porch and picnic table for ashtrays. Gee, I forgot all this until I saw your reference to quahogs! Thanks for a nice trip down memory lane. Both my aunt and uncle passed away several years ago, and it's been years since we had a gathering in that home.
Sorry for the hijack of your photo thread, Karen!
