Glad they got there Cathy, sorry for the lame note, I was running and needed to get them out. Hopefully you get some plants from them. I think the greener heads will need more drying but you might ask someone who knows a lot more than me

    YAY FOR KATE'S NEW JOB!!!!

Tina, I hate those screw up kind of days.  Thank doG for a new day tomorrow!

Today is my baby boy's first birthday and the day we celebrate our survival of the first year!!!!  ;)  And he is a handful!

I am celebrating by forgetting about my leftovers in the fridge and picking up a gyro and greek salad from a little whole in the wall place down the street.  I've been craving it for a few weeks and the last time I tried to get one, they were randomly closed that day.

Hope everyone has a good day!  I was really down yesterday after visiting my mom.  The inevitable is just so hard to bare.  But today is going to be a GOOD DAY!  I am just going to decide for it to be!

I just heard on House Hunters one of the home seekers refer to their dog as a Golden Labrador.  Why does that always make me want to scream?
"Chocolate Doberman" drives me just as nuts.  Although, Silver Labradors make me want to punch someone.  I have a student w/a "silver Labrador"  barf.

There's a huge air show happening this weekend and the planes have started arriving and practicing. My doctor's office is on the air force base where the show is, so I've been told to expect delays getting to their office tomorrow.  eek!  Gotta go back and read today's thread.

oye all those incorrect breed descriptions make me crazy

white labs, red labs, English labs, British labs (Outdoor magazine recommended these over American labs Hmm then incorrectly described the differences), British goldens - makes me nuts. But of course that isn't a long way off for me at any point.

I am going to say what many of you are feeling

    I AM HOT

Happy Birthday to C, Sarah!  I can't believe he's already a year old.  I hope you enjoy your treat and send you hugs as you deal with your mom.

I'm not very impressed with the new cleaning crew if you can call one person a crew.  I guess I shouldn't complain but I will anyway. If the things missed aren't corrected next time, I'll be on the hunt for a new crew.  After cleaning this place myself for years it is nice to have someone else do it but it drives me nuts that obvious things are overlooked.

Yep, Silver Labs would drive me round the bend completely.

It's not as hot here as it has been and actually seems bearable so far.  There was a sad story on the local news about a woman who lost her husband last year to heatstroke while he was working outside on a construction crew.

The wildfires in CO are just awful.

Funny on FB today after the Supreme Court ruling on the healthcare reform.  Someone posted this "Brace youselves.  Everyone on Facebook is about to become a constitutional scholar".  LOL

     Yay Julie, Abbie, and Kate!!

Jackie, the Colorado fires are making me so sad. It's so hard to comprehend the magnitude.

I have been crazy busy with both jobs lately. It's been hard to keep up!

    Happy birthday C!

My sisters BIL and his wife have already been evacuated.  The daughter, where they went is on the "be ready" list.  Scary stuff and so tragic.

    Off to mound the taters.

I remember the days when having my teeth cleaned was uneventful. Lately, I dread it more than any other medical/dental appt. There's just this one tiny area where the enamel is gone on a back molar and it feels like an exposed nerve when being scaled. They numb me up on that quadrant every visit and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. My cheek and tongue felt numb but I still wanted to cry when she touched that area. I've kidded about getting a root canal done on that tooth but today I asked seriously and she said some people do it. It's an area that I'd had bone loss and a graft done, so not scaling it isn't an option.

My hygienist is like a friend and we got to chatting about our dogs. She lost her Golden to cancer and just talking about it make her start crying and it's been 2 yrs. You could tell she loved him dearly. They have a Golden Doodle now and she said he's a complete opposite from the dog they had in terms of love and affection. I guess he's quite aloof and she's missing her kissy face boy :(. I mentioned that someone I know had paid $1200 for a Golden Doodle and she said they got a bargain. Really?? *gulp* Tongue Tied

Maybe there's a Men Are Stupid drink...

Why stop at drink?  There's probably an entire "Men Are Stupid" Menu!

Deb, excellent news about Kate finding a job in her field.  Congratulations -- to ALL of you!  Wink  It's really nice to hear such news when it seems all I hear is about new grads who can't find employment.  Heck, not just new grads -- we know 3 very experienced people struggling to find jobs right now.

Well done Jewliee and Abbie!  1st birthday wishes for your baby and good thoughts for your Mom, Sara.  Also, cooling vibes to all of you in the horribly hot zones.  I feel bad complaining about our lack of sunny, warm summery weather when I hear how people are suffering in the heat and with those devastating fires.

On a lighter note, the guy came to measure for our new carpet today.  Surprisingly, deciding on a color and style was relatively quick (DH and I never agree on anything).  Now to prepare ourselves for the sticker shock when he sends the quote. Surprise

    Happy Birthday C!

    YEAH FOR KATE!!!

OK, so my parents are on vacation and my dad sent me some pics to post for him on Facebook.  Seriously how cute are they...definitely something to strive for.  I love them so much!  People wonder why I am such a happy person, why I loved my childhood, my I want to make sure Riley does.  Well, they are the reason why!

Thanks Karen.  In all honesty they are that great.  My dad is hot headed, quick tempered, loud mouthed and pushy and the biggest softy you could ever imagine - that description sound familiar Embarrassed.  My mom ran our house (and my dad) with a such a wonderful touch - there was never any doubt who was in charge at all times but you could crawl into her lap at any moment and get all the comfort you would ever need (I still do this!!).  They were foster parents in the 60s and are admittedly baby junkies - if there is a baby in a 20 mile radius of them they are on that kid like white on rice.  There weren't our friends growing up, they were our parents no doubt about that, but they are now two of my best friends.  Yeah, I am sappy too.

    • Gold Top Dog

Lisa, you are so incredibly lucky and what's even better you know how lucky you are to have such great parents.  Let the circle continue to expand through you and through Riley.  I feel so sappy now it's not funny.  lol

Reading Lisa's post really saved my sanity this afternoon.  I've been chewed out by someone who couldn't find his you know what with two hands and a flashlight.  Unfortunately, he's someone who oversees a big contract so I can't tell him what an idiot he is and how little he knows about the subject.  I can make his life difficult in ways he won't realize but I think I'll just let it go and chalk it up to today's "dealing with idiots" and move on.
