    manic monday

Mmmm my coffee tastes delicious today This was such a nice 3 day weekend. Every weekend should be 3 days. Yesterday all the dogs got bathed and blow dryed. Pretty much because abbie decided to take a swim in green sludge. I can't believe how much fur they are still blowing out. Lily always has the hardest time because her undercoat tangles with her outercoat near her rear. She hates it when I try to brush her out back there. One day I will get a grooming table so I don't have to kill my back working on all of them. Weight loss is a bitch btw. Best sleeping weather ever last night! 54* and all the windows open. I slept like a rock. I have a performance review today. *anxiety* i know it will be fine but still. These always make me nervous.

A friend recently acquired an Aussie after having Dobes.  She just posted a picture of the inside of her dog's crate - he'd spilled his water bowl so all the dirt and filth all over his crate was simply from the water mixing with the dirt in his coat.

Reason #100 why I have no business owning a herding breed.  Good luck on your review.

I've got to go get some coffee so my brain will function.  I really wanted to get up early to work out, but I barely got up early enough to take a shower.  Can't work out at lunch b/c I have to deposit checks, can't work out after work b/c I'm teaching class tonight.    Bummah.

Morning all! Since I worked all weekend this is my happy day.Sorry if that sounds like gloating.I finally had my mousetrap in the basement sprung.I found it twenty feet from where I set it and upon examination it was very chewed up and contained one tiny pawIck!.I NEED to find the rest of that mouse.Must consider dog breeds that catch mice for my future puppy.Jewlee I can't imagine you need to lose weight with all that biking you do.Makes me feel like a lazy bum every time I read about it.

Weight loss stinks as does getting older.

If you want a taste of the tropics, walk out of my house. The air is mostly moisture I think and its about 80*, thankfully it was overcast early on but the sun is making it extra steamy now. Bleck!   Those of you who love summer.........I always remind myself that here you tolerate summer and rejoice most of the rest of the year Big Smile

Tena I will send Bugsy - your mouse problem will be over.

We are being inundated with june bugs at the moment - gabbyG was supposed to come help but since she still hasn't gotten here B has decided he needs to step up his game. 'nuff said Ick!  Guess he isn't pleased with me for reducing his food intake

Marty solved my how to empty the fountain project - shop vac! So its now all fresh and clean water

I have a looooooooooooooooonng list of stuff to do today and later on a mountain of mulch will be delivered on my driveway.  The thought of all of it is what drives me to waste time surfing

Guess that really isn't the best plan, so off I go!

Hoping Lisa checks in to let us know how Riley is doing

DS got his nose pierced. It was pretty funny how he tried to justify it to me when I saw it, 2 days after the fact. I said, "You are 23, I really don't care what you do as long as it's legal."

Karen, you can keep the June bugs. They are icky.

Hot here today and for the rest of the week.  We're supposed to hit 102 today.  Yesterday was stifling hot with no breeze.  My plants and flowers are now in survival mode.

Nose and lip rings are so distracting.  I can't help but stare at them even when I tell myself not to. lol  I'd hate to have a nose ring and a bad head cold but I suppose they remove them in that case.

The nursing home visit on Saturday was awful.  My cousin is doing ok but she's got to speak up and quit being so passive.  I understand that she doesn't want to make enemies of the people who are caring for her but she's going to have to learn to ask for what she needs.  It's a really tough situation to be in.

    Tena, enjoy your day off.

ETA that Gabby says she's sorry she can't help with the June bugs as she's busy with grasshoppers.

Believe me, I need to lose weight. That is why I am biking! I am not just saying that either. I went into a depression a couple of years ago and gained about 100 lbs. So yeah, I'll be on the diet train for a while and it sucks! I long for my skinny days and the days where I could lose weight with no effort at all.

the tongue studs get me too, especially since no one seems to be able to talk with them in

So sorry about the nursing home Jackie - I'll be sending 'stand up for yourself' vibes to your cousin (((hugs)))

suit yourself Gabby I am sure june bugs have more nutrition LOL

since I have said how depressing rescue pages can be for me I thought I'd share that this morning there were two uplifting pics/stories. One is a dog that had to have a front leg amputated and was running around on 3 legs and wanting to play fetch 3 days post op. Wearing the goofiest, joyous smile :)  The other one is a dog that is a runner (through boredom) and is now in a foster home. The foster took him in some fields and the look on his face is just powerfully happy. Dogs are awesome!

Super tired here today too. I thought about calling in sick but didn't and then got in to find an email from a coworker who had and who does it all too often Super Angry.

Piercings make me wince too and especially the tongue piercings - ugh! I worked in dentistry and know how hard it is to pierce a tongue Ick!

My brother mentioned something called the zapper (?) that he uses for the mice and rats he has on his property and said it worked amazingly well. We haven't had any problems lately but I told DH to look into buying one.

My brain is too tired to even think of anything else to say...EmbarrassedSleep

Morning all, hot hot hot here.  Will be 100 today and we are now upgraded to serious drought here.  As of today we are 9" below average rainfall.  I know it is not near as bad as you had in Texas but we would take some of Florida's rain.   Is everyone safe from all the crazy weather?

    Has anyone heard from Lisa?

GabbyG I definately need help with grasshoppers, pack your bags.  Lets see...Bugsy and Rocky do mice/moles/rabbits/squirels and GabbyG does insects sounds like we could put together a heck of a Pest elimination business.

    Have a great day all

    Monday came far too quickly.

Boy, don't they all?!  It's crazy!

Ginger, I like your idea of the dogs teaming up to take care of rodents and insects.  They could call their business Dog Gone Pests or something like that!

I'm not one for piercing anything, other than earlobes.  With my allergies and sinus issues, having a nose piercing sounds very unpleasant!  And the tongue piercing does seem to make people speak like they have marbles in their mouths.  I know how annoying it is to have a raspberry seed stuck in my teeth and to keep feeling it with my tongue . . . having a piece of metal right through the middle of it sounds much worse!  But, I guess most of us do something less-than-comfortable for the sake of fashion or appearance -- some of us just have less pain tolerance than others!

Jackie, I'm sorry the visit to your cousin's nursing home was depressing.  We are our own best advocates, but it's hard sometimes, depending on the person's health and personality, to speak up for yourself.  I worry that someday if I end up in a hospital or care facility that I won't have anyone to look out for my best interests since we don't have kids.  I'm glad you keep in touch with your cousin, and I'm sure she's glad to see you, too.

More rain expected today.  We're over the average rainfall for June.  I wish I could send some to those of you with drought and/or fire issues.

Nasty thunderstorms came rolling through here earlier.  They let up by the time I had to drive to the bank for my lunch hour.  I'm now eating a soft pretzel and a banana.  I already ate through my stash of backup food whenever I come back after the cafeteria is closed.  Huh?
