Mindless Thursday

    Mindless Thursday

I had a complete memory failure yesterday at work. I forgot all about a $30M project I reviewed just 2 wks ago. Stupid. Hate it when that happens. I blame lack of sleep. Last night was only 5 hrs. Totally not enough. Our weather is supposed to get much more pleasant pretty soon but right now you could cut the air with a knife. I am looking forward to turning the ac off. Is there a way to get inside a washer to clean out the nooks and crannies? I cleaned what I could get at but I dont think its enough. My washer is leaving little brown marks on my whites. Is it just time for a new one? Its prob 10 yrs old at least and was really cheap when I bought it.

There.s something called Washer Magic made by Summit that's supposed to remove scale and rust from washers.Never used it though.

I have to bring my car into the dealership this morning.I've only had it a few weeks and it's got deep scratches in the window from raising and lowering. It's going to take hours to take the door apart and replace the window so I have that to look forward to.

    Good luck Tena

Julie DH took our whole washer apart when it quit working last year.i think he found manuals on the internet It's summer alright, I got eaten alive watering the veggie garden this morning, scratch scratch

It's a super hot one here today--predictions of 99-100. Yuck. Next week does look better, so that's good. Providence decided to open the water parks today but the pools are still closed.

Tena, good luck with the car. That sounds really frustrating!

I haven't tried the Washer Magic either, but it sounds promising.

I got nuthin' else so far. I'm already melting.

And I forgot that when I take Bugsy out before breakfast he tries to hunt some down :(

Nearly got a rabbit this morning and he is harder to handle because he is in serious work-mode

Bugsy would like my yard since I've got a new family of baby bunnies coming over to eat my tasty grass/weeds (I don't put anything on my lawn). They are cute, that's for sure.

Lisa, I hope Riley's procedure goes well tomorrow.

Tena, hopefully you can get a courtesy ride somewhere so you don't have to sit at the dealership forever.

Julie, no help here on the washer.

Kate, hope you can stay cool and dry.

Not much excitement here, which isn't necessarily bad.

It is not gawd awful here yet.  Will be but for right now it's almost pleasant.  For sure a day to get my stuff done as early as possible and call it a day.  In and out of AC all day and the first blast of hot air in the car, just doesn't help much.

I should get another article written for the paper today too.  I suggested and pretty much implemented a two page spread every week for shelter pets.  We feature a dog and a cat (normally) from two shelters right now and looks like we'll be adding a rescue next week.  Big surprise that I'd be working on something like this, huh?  But, anyway, the Editor likes to have some content along with the critters and ads, so I do that too.  Thinking it'll be animal obesity for next week.........

Off to slow poach!  Have a good day everyone!

They are really really cute! We have a family as well - fortunately they made their home just outside his boundaries :)  I laughed my butt off the other day when he was out stalking one of the babies - I knew he was tired and it was really hot and that the baby wasn't in danger - when it took off it was so ridiculously fast he looked stunned and never moved.  He just stood there sort of blinking as if to say "what the heck?"  Never seen him do that before, getting old Wink

which reminds me today's near breakfast was a gray rabbit - ours around here are always brown so I wonder if it is a domestic rabbit that got loose or offspring of one. I believe he found the den so it lives outside in the fields now

That annoys me.  Not likely the little guy "got loose" but rather was LET loose.  And that's so wrong on so many levels.  One of the rescues I'm working with does the feral cat thing and the cats they have for adoption are the kittens who can be "salvaged".  They do the trap/alter/return thing and community volunteers take care of food, water, winter shelter.  It just sucks when people throw away animals.

Oh Glenda NC (and the Southeast in general) lead the nation in 'animal' production and complete carelessness. Having looked on the net only cottontails and marsh rabbits are native wild rabbits so this one was definitely domestic or related to domestic rabbits.  Certainly have never seen one in the wild before. Our SPCA always has a few for adoption though.

There are oodles of mutant domestic geese and other waterfowl at the lake too. Horrible issue with hogs in NC that started as domestic or farm raised that wind up in the wild and mutate to feral in a generation or two.

Feral cats and dogs are rampant - and I live in the big city (which it isn't and where I live is rural-suburban so plenty of natural areas) but outside of the 'cities' the sheer amount of strays is staggering

OK must stop thinking about this at this time so I can do some work

Gorgeous morning here and I'm wishing I didn't have to go in to work. I had an email from my boss that he's taking a sick day. He takes a sick day almost every time he's been up here for a meeting and always says it's allergy-related. Maybe it's me ;)

I managed to get caught up on stuff when working here at home yesterday, so I'm hoping for a stress-free day.

I seriously can't believe it's only Thursday. It feels like the longest week ever. I'm taking the week of 4th of July off and also the last week of July when my friend comes to visit, so July is going to be a very good month.

Just got off the phone with U of M to ask if Riley should take her meds today (this morning and evening).  They informed me that someone will call by 7:00 PM with details for tomorrow's surgery and could answer any questions I had at that time.  I told her to stop and think about my question and think about what she said.  Took her about 3 minutes to get it.

Someone else should be calling me back shortly.  Sorry, but this does not make a worried momma feel better.

Lisa, that's so ridiculous for that woman to give you such a stupid answer. I'd mention it to whoever calls you back so they can have a talk with her. Angry Try not to worry and stress too much.  We'll all be sending tons of good thoughts and vibes for Riley and for her worried momma.

I posted some pictures on FB of some of the tomato hornworms we got off our plants yesterday.  I forget that some people are creeped out by such things. lol  I bet you guys didn't know that they make a noise when they're disturbed.  I didn't either until I heard it myself.  Ticking type noise and I have no idea how they produce it.  I put some of them in a container to give to someone and when they had eaten all the leaves I put in there, they started making that ticking noise.

We only hit 90 yesterday which is much cooler than most of the Northeast.  We're heading into some 100 degree weather soon so I won't be gloating much.

The flooding in Duluth was insanely scary looking.  I felt so bad about the zoo animals that were killed in the flooding.

{{Hugs}}   I have always thought, due to my caregiver status at home, that they should teach employees....students....techs...nurses answers to basic questions and not dismiss the caregiver's concerns with "procedure".   I am sorry you are not having the proverbial "nice fuzzy feeling".  I could so teach this class.  Can you imagine a world where medical services put as much importance in caring as they do in medical procedure.   I have been in sales and customer service all my life, I still have to remind myself everyday that just because I know what's going on doesnt mean my customers understand it all.

    ****Jumping down from soapbox now****

It's raining in NWA wooohooo!!!!!!  Cool front will keep todays temps in the low 80's this is the first rain we have had in a while.

ETA:  From yesterday!  How the heck are you Johnny?  I have missed your humor....I was so tempted to do some kind of old joke just for you but......you are soooo much better at the Old broad commentsWink
