    chatting on tuesday

I kind of went to bed at 7:30 last night. I woke up every now and then but mostly slept like the dead. I totally needed that! It is going to be a hot one today. I will be in the field this afternoon too. I need to get something lighter weight than jeans for my field days. Jeans in 95+ heat and humidity are a bit icky. I might ride my bike to work too so todays theme will be sweat. Does anyone really enjoy going to a toddlers bday party?

Just the toddlerStick out tongue Hot and sticky here too.Why oh why did I put off laundry till today?I found a downed nest with three dead baby birds yesterday. The storm must have blown it out of the tree. This sort of thing always bumms me out.I made taco salads for supper last night and now I'm trying to figure out how to get my guys to eat salads tonight too.Maybe something with grilled chicken.I got a new outdoor grill last month and it's one of those infared ones.It makes chicken much better than my old grill.

I'm not so sure that even toddlers enjoy those parties....too much comotion, too much expectation, blah, blah, blah, and the suger overload from hades.....

Supposed to be 80's and humid here today.  No rain forecast until Thursday, but, I can always hope.  Extremely overcast so maybe that will keep the heat down and give us a chance of rain.  Of course, I watered the garden last night (for over 2 hours since I forgot the hose was on...opps) so quite likely it'll rain today just because the garden doesn't need water......I'm sure it wouldn't turn down more tho.  Either would I since it might keep things cooler.  I might have mentioned a time or two (million) that I hate heat and humidity.......

Julie, maybe some dark colored cargo type pants?  Those would be cooler than denim at least.

I need to get dressed and ready for work.  I'd rather take a nap......

    Have a good day all.

I didn't have a step-in-cat-poop incident this morning, so despite the 3-H weather, it's going to be a decent day. Repeat as needed. Or mix up a tall cool beverage and chill. It must be 5 o'clock somewhere.Drinks

Smoky here at the office from a smoldering compost fire down the road.  My eyes are burning and my throat hurts.  Makes me really appreciate the firefighters who are trying to knock down the fires in NM, AZ and CO.  I can't imagine how they do that day after day after day.

The kitten spent the night here at the office in Twister's crate.  The shelter volunteer didn't make it yesterday.  I'll take him up there in a little while when work gives me a break.

DH was wound up yesterday after his first day at his new position.  He couldn't settle down for hours.

Tena, I love to eat salads this time of year.  Poor baby birds. :(

Salad weather has arrived here too

    I share your sadness Tena

They did a 'contained' burn in the Croatan National Forest (near the beach due east of here) last week that has turned into an unconstrained forest fire, oops. Cough cough

Sorry DH was wound up after his first day - change can be unsettling, good and bad

A friend came over with here nearly 1 yr old lab mix pup and we all went to the lake early this morning. Poor Bugsy works so hard to swim and these darn labs and goldens hit the water like an otter and blow right by him LOL Very funny to watch.

    Can't remember anything else

Have a good one - even if its sweaty

     Do tell Deb.

Just popping in for a second. Busy day with Board mtg at noon and then will probably have to leave early to finalize the sell of my car. I know why people avoid the hassle and just trade their car in. What a hassle!!

I can't believe how busy I've been lately and how tired I am every day. I'll be glad when the pace slows down in the next few weeks. I've forgotten what it's like to have a boring day.

I think toddler/kid b-day parties are kind of fun. Geeked I'm bringing W&S to a little friend's 3rd b-day this weekend. I'm sure it will be overwhelming... there's supposed to be a bounce house. At least they'll nap good!

Julie, you should get some ripstop/wind pants. They'd provide protection from getting scratched but would be somewhat lightweight.

Sorry about the baby birds. :,(

At first I read this as doings, pronounced like boings, and I thought WTH does that mean?  I seriously need to get my eyes checked.

I've been to parties for toddlers of family members and good friends, where I know many of the guests and enjoy seeing everyone there.  Those are fun (especially if the snacks are good!).  But I've also gone to parties for neighbor kids where I know only a couple people (besides the child and the parents), and those aren't much fun.  I guess I'm not one for small talk with strangers while holding a Dora the Explorer paper cup of fruit punch!  Stick out tongue

Deb, you have peaked my curiosity.  Surely you can't leave us all hanging with that teaser post!!

I'm sad for the baby birds, too, Tena.  Last year DH found a nest of dead baby birds when he cleaned out our birdhouse.  I didn't even see them, and I was really sad.  I know things happen in nature, but I hate the idea of an animal suffering due to starvation, illness, injury, etc.

I'm glad the little kitten did okay in the crate overnight.  I hope he's on his way to a new home soon!

I had a meeting with one of my bosses and our tax accountant this morning for over an hour - talk about head spinning.  I've got to follow up on some tasks now before I forget everything we talked about!

Im laughing hysterically at "doings like boings".At least you saw the i Tina. I feel bad for those folks near the fires too.Must be scary.I tried for an hour to get a signature up,just couldn't get it sized right. Then my 14 year old rolls out of bed and does it in 30 seconds.....smarty pants!Well now people will see my dogs at least.

Tena, thanks for posting your lovely dogs in your siggy. :)  Now I won't get so confused or at least I can't use the no pictures excuse again. lol  Figures a 14 year old figured it out in 30 seconds.  Smarty pants. :)

I like toddler parties if there held outdoors.  That way the high pictched screeches, wild yelling and assorted other toddler antics doesn't bounce off the walls destroying my crystal.  Just kidding.  I don't have any crystal. lol   Seriously, all toddler parties should be held outdoors or at a place designed for small children, like one of those pizza chains.  That way the kids can enjoy themselves without any adults worrying about what's getting destroyed.  :)   I haven't been to or "hosted" a toddler party in years but remember them well.  Cupcakes under the sofa cushions and punch in the dog bowls.  I don't know how many cupcake papers my various dogs have eaten over the years but it must number in the multiple dozens.

lots of typos to edit.  I must have gotten all shook up thinking of toddler parties. :)   Oh and the kitten is at the shelter and will hopefully find a home soon.  He's at the perfect age for adoption.

I don't mind toddler parties, but i've only really been to one, which was my niece's, when she turned 1. My friend's son's party is in a few weeks, also his first. Maybe I'll feel different after that.

Could probably ring the water out of the air if I had big enough hands....it's THAT humid.  Blech.
