    Tuesday chatter

'Morning all. I am bummed that I am missing my normal telework day. This week is defined by meetings. The next 2 days I have to attend a writing class. I hear it is a good class and you can always improve on writing skills but 2 days....it's prob going to kill me. My brain isn't awake yet. I would love to go back to sleep Almost everyone in my office is rebelling against the parking spot ***. It is $82 a month to park at our office which is freaking crazy. Half the people that pakr there park for free (judges, congressfolks, upper level mgmt), it's only the lowly schmucks like us who have to pay. It is cheaper to park at the meters than to park in our lot and in fact, it's cheaper to park in downtown atlanta than to park in our hodunck town. So, most of us gave up our spots, there are only 3 hold outs. I wonder if this will do any good. Prob not

Parking...always an issue that creates a lot of strong and often negative emotions. I don't think I'd want to pay the fee, either, since you probably already paid it in some other form, Julie.

My eyelid is still reddish-purple looking but it doesn't itch. I think I'm going to live.

Two corporate Amex bills arrived in yesterday's mail, so I'd better get to it. They're huge and I'm sure not going to balance on the first try. And did I mention they're due right away? My favorite...Tongue Tied

    Good news, Tina.

I had to take two muscle relaxants and practically take a bath in Ben Gay last night because my back hurt so much from sleeping on this ramshackle pull-out couch all weekend.  Doesn't feel too bad today though.

Jamison is doing the head flapping thing, so I guess a trip to the vet to have his ears checked is in order.

Good morning all.  Beautiful day here so far, cool like I like it.  Miss Ava and me have had our morning walk, cat is fed so all is well.  I'm off to Hollywood Casino on a bus trip with a good friend.  Looking forward to a nice day out.  Have a wonderful day everyone.

Glad you are going to live Tina Wink  and glad your back is feeling better Deb.

I really, really, really needed my coffee this morning

cool & gray which suits me just fine. The plants I put in Sunday will have a better chance with this nice break from our normal heat

    Ick!  Bugsy just farted :(

I am going to try and watch some of the Diamond Jubilee coverage this morning. Hoping that I don't have too many phone calls LOL

Julie that parking situation is ridiculous

    Is it Friday yet?

I'm so tired, because I stayed up too late (1:30 ish) and got up too early (5:45). Once Luke is done his visit this morning, I think I'm going to grab some lunch and come home and go back to bed since I have no more work for the day.

I'm also trying to figure out my grandpa's birthday. It's either today or tomorrow. I asked my cousin on Facebook, but I can't tell if her response meant she forgot or isn't certain. He's definitely the type of person who will be offended if we're wrong, so I don't want to call him on the wrong day. I didn't send a card yet, but I'll get one before I come home I guess.

Tina, glad the eye isn't itchy this morning.

Deb, I hope Jamison's ears are ok.

Humid this morning and pretty warm temps predicted for this afternoon.  We could use some rain.  The grass has been looking great but without rain that will last another week or two and then it's back to brown and crispy. :(

    Have fun, Vivian!

I have a ton of work to do and zero motivation.  DH is still driving me nuts but I just keep telling him to be patient.  He's expecting some good news about his job but he can't stand the waiting.  When you work for a gigantic corporation nothing moves quickly.

My banana had a huge brown section which grosses me out.  The dogs enjoyed it. :)  I'm glad I brought a few peaches too so I didn't have to miss breakfast.

Hey Jackie:  I meant to ask you how your plum tart came out.  Plums are one of the few fruits that I really like because they're not too, too sweet.  Can you paraphrase your recipe ??

Julie -- parking sux anywhere -- it's not uncommon in Orlando at all for parking to cost $90 - $120 a month.  I've been 'stalked' even at 5 p.m. and if you ever have to work late, paying to park is sometimes the only safe option.  It IS a racket!!

    Vivian have fun!

Deb -- get yourself a bottle of either wintergreen or peppermint oil -- they are more powerful than Ben Gay by far, and less goopy.  fold-out sofas oughta be outlawed!!!  ugh - I feel it FOR you!

I agree on the plums - they are one of my favorite fruits.  Cept for bananas -- Callie don't do nanners -- not ever!

    back to work!!

Omg my brain is still so asleep. I just totally zoned out on a phone call. That was bad.

I'm feeling zoned out myself and also have a conf. call at 9. It doesn't help that the gardeners are all around me with their freaking grass blowers going Super Angry Shane does enjoy staring out the window at them though.

When I worked downtown, I had to pay $110 a month to park in a lot near my office and that was 8+ yrs ago. There were some cheaper spots a few blocks away but since I often had to leave after dark, I felt it was worth the extra $ to be safe but I still hated paying it.

I ordered a wrought iron bakers rack for my patio and it arrived yesterday. Since it was raining most of the day, DH didn't put it together, so I may do that when I get home. I'm excited to see how it looks.

It came out great but DH thought it was too tart!  lol  I sliced the plums, laid them in the pie crust, sprinkled with about two teaspoons of sugar (didn't measure) and just a teeny bit of cinnamon sprinkled around.  Popped it in the oven but don't remember how long.  Long enough for the crust to get light brown.  I ate most of it myself.  Big Smile  I liked that it was a tart tart.  DH wanted me to make some whipped cream but I refused. lol

Thanks - I may have to give it a whirl.

My mom used to make a traditional plum kuchen, I need to get the recipe off her. If she made it, it was simple, she didn't ever make anything complicated.  It was a fairly flat dough that wasn't sweet and the plums just sliced on top.  I bet you could make a base with Biscuit mix or similar, cover with plums and go from there.  This looks similar to me http://www.food.com/recipe/german-plum-cake-41721

Although I love the simplicity of yours Jackie - poor C with the tart too tart Wink

I have another webinar today starting in a few minutes. I feel way too sleepy to pay much attention
